Making the Brand

Things are still moving along. With Christmas in the picture, I decided to take a few days off to enjoy my children. Now that 2012 is here, there will be little time for R&R. Yet I still was dealing with a few issues.

The shirts are at the printer and will be back the week of January 9th. I am beyond anxious to see how they will turn out. I hope they look okay.

Someone once told me that you can’t do everything. I took that advice, contributing a ton of my failures in the past with this business venture to trying to do it all and be a Jill of all trades and a master of none. I decided to relinquish some control and solicit a partner. The part I forgot to do was be a good communicator. There was a bit of a hiccup between her and I regarding expectations and the like. Being that we are friends, I contemplated foregoing the partnership and getting an intern but after much prayer and thought I decided I do need some help. Everything has been ironed out but I will say this to YOU. If you decide to have a business partner please make sure to outline ALL expectations up front. No room for error or lost friendships. I am a very forgiving person so these things are nothing but water under a bridge, but if you are one to hold on to things I say don’t partner with a friend. I hope all is well from this point now that everything is out in the open and we can move forward.

I haven’t had an opportunity to look into changing the name of the LLC. Well I have had time, I just didn’t feel like looking into it. It’s these lazy ways that must cease to exist in 2012!

I am getting a bit scared as I get closer to launch. There are still alot of moving parts that are going into this photoshoot..Models, MUA, etc. But this promotional piece was put out. Can you say excited!

Pray for me. At this point I want to quit. I wonder if this is all even worth it. I have put so much money into this. I’m not really expecting to see a profit for some time but I am trying to psych myself up to be proud of myself for taking a serious stab at this whether it takes me months to sell the first shirt or not. I’m scared. I won’t lie.

Where are you in your process of living your dreams? You scurred to?

Well, my dream since 2011 was to become a published author. Well, I did that sorta. I became a published co-author (same difference). But now the task is to put out a solo project & like you I am a bit scared at what the response maybe. However, I have resolved to move forward.

As you get closer to your launch don’t sike yourself out. You can do this! Don’t let your dream be deterred. You have so many people in your corner cheering you on! Divinitee will be a smashing success!

I’m so proud of you! I haven’t had a chance to get it but I will by the weekend. The fact that you did this with two children is just setting the stage for great things. I support you.

I got your email. I will respond by the weekend!!

I thought my dream was to be an attorney and now that I am one I still feel like there are other unfulfilled dreams that I’ve been too scared (or lazy) to bring into fruition. Stay positive, but nerves are normal especially on the brink of a breakthrough! I’m definitely rooting on u!!!!!!

Most people I know that are attorneys say the same thing. I can see something like that being hard to walk away from. So much time, dedication and money goes into law. If I can take my unorganized, lazy self to the next level anybody can. Get to it Ma’am!!

My dream is to own something some day. Everyone tells me how creative I am but I don’t think that I believe it so I quit before I even get started.. I plan to put an end to that this year– so wish m luck. I hope you continue with your dream because I’m dying to purchase one of those shirts!!

With God and your family by your side you can do ANYTHING! You are on the right track, you have made moves and the plans are in motion! You are lifting up the name of Christ through fashion how can you lose? Your business will succeed in the name of Jesus! I can’t wait till it launches count me in as one of your first customers!

To answer your question, yes I am scared to live my dreams freelance writing and no longer rely on Corporate America for a paycheck. Change isn’t change if its comfortable, I’m getting ready to be uncomfortable as heck!!

Have a great day Mimi 😉

Girl. So I was over at your blog looking at your running shot. Hangs my head in shame. I was training for a half and let everything get in the way but I may need a good run. Change is definitely uncomfortable. I’m proud of myself for holding on, back in the day I would’ve thrown in the towel by now. The kitchen is getting real hot…I’mma grab a bottle of water and chill tho!

You are making it happen and I’m so proud of you. I agree with all of the other ladies. Change isn’t comfortable – that’s why so many people never change. Keep it up we’ve got your back! Love the promo by the way!

I love these shirts! I think the most important thing is to remember to let God lead! I often become so flushed with ideas that I find myself spinning in circles and not getting anything done! lol So now that I’ve pin pointed my ultimate goal (stylist for Plus sized women/bouitique owner) I now have FOCUS!! =) And things seem to be falling in place! Just preparing for the hicups, but more importantly how to handle them! Good Luck!
