Beauty Makeup Weekend

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was slightly busy and I am actually gearing up for my busy season. Pretty much I am booked out on the weekends up until about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. In the midst of all of that Divinitee’s fall line will be coming out and I have to start purging this house of all JUNK. Truth be told half of this stuff “might don’t make it” to the new house. We’ll probably hear our voices echoing off the walls because other than most of our clothes we’ll be starting over from scratch.

Anywho. That’s another post for another day.

This weekend the weather here was rather glorious. Friday my husband worked from home so we all just hung out running errands and such.

Saturday, we got up and headed to my nephew’s football season opener.

Makari Skin Care Product Review

My quest to find a tried and true skin care regimen is not news to y’all.

If you need a refresher, my post here…the one where I was soliciting skin care product recommendations from you never really materialized into anything as I failed to follow through on many of your recommendations *shrugs*

The fact that I have continued to take my skincare for a joke is coming to an end as I am starting to see more dark spots appear and after a visit to the esthetician I have been told that it is imperative that I start AND maintain a regimen if I want to see healthy skin as I get older.

My skin in its current state is combination. I have some oily areas and I am acne prone on my cheeks and lower chin area. There are very small pimples, dark spots and large pores that are really starting to become noticeable.

In a perfect world I would love to see my skin have

  • Even skin tone
  • No acne
  •  A radiant glow and firmness

I was recently provided three Makari products to review.

I was anxious to give these products a whirl. Partly because they were provided to me at no charge and they would force me to start taking care of my skin. Prior to starting the regimen this is what my face looked like. It had only been washed for the past week with a washcloth…I’m not ashamed!!

Face prior to using Makari soap

The soap felt awesome. It was lightly scented and had very fine granules that gently exfoliate the skin. I could barely feel them

Makari Soap

It lathered very well and went on my face with ease. Once on my skin it turned into a cream and was very easy to wash off. Upon removal my skin felt tight but not dry…if that makes any sense. After I washed I applied the serum. This serum is dedicated to repairing the skin and helping to even the skin tone

Makari Skin Repairing Serum

The serum required just one squirt. This bottle will likely last forever!! Major cost benefit. After applying the serum my face felt even tighter but again not in a drying way, more in a firm skin kind of way.

Post Makari Skin Repairing Serum application

The last step involved the moisturizer. I will say the smell on this was a bit strong initially but it died off quickly. It was smooth and “velvety” to the touch. Again a little went an extremely long way. We like that!

Makari Body Beautifying Milk

I have only been using the product twice a day for the past week. I’m not sure if I can truly say I see a huge difference in some of my problem areas but I do feel like I have seen a bit of skin brightening.

Prior to being contacted to do this post I had never heard of Makari before. I have further detailed my use of the product via Google +. You will find more photos and additional commentary regarding my use of the product there…and while you are over there please make sure I am in your circle!

For the short time that I have utilized the products I feel they are high quality and will most likely deliver on their promise of providing healthy skin. They offer a range of products from brightening creams to baby products. They are confident that their product will work on African American skin in helping to even out skin tone, and assist with problem areas such as acne, dryness, and discoloration.

Pros include:

  • Small amount of product needed
  • Cost effective
  • Saw some improvement after only using 5 days

Cons:

  • Smell could be overpowering

If you would like to learn more about the company and try their products for yourself they can be found on Twitter, Facebook, and the web. Feel free to join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #Makari

Have you used Makari products before? If so, what was your experience? If not, based on this information do you think you will give it a whirl? What are some of your major skin care concerns?

Beauty Children Family Hair Random Summer

She So Random

The past few weeks around here have been extra chill. For a New York minute I was starting to feel bad about not really being productive then I got over it.  We’ve been going to bed late at night and sleeping late in the morning. We have the next 9 months to be on a schedule. I think we’ll enjoy these last two weeks going with the flow.

Speaking of New York I am ramping up my preparations to head to the Big Apple for BlogHer in a couple of weeks. I have childcare lined up and the majority of my outfits have been planned out via Evernote in this manner.

I do need to pick up a few things and I plan on grabbing those sometime this weekend. My sense of urgency is real because my son goes back to school on Monday the 6th and I get back on the 5th so everything needs to be in order.

I can’t wait to meet some of my bloggy friends and just have a good time. I have been invited to a few private parties and I do plan to attend. For the amount of money that has been dished out I need to get the most of the weekend.

I am thankful for BlogHer this year because it is keeping my mind off the impending anniversary of my mother’s death which is on July 27, and her birthday is on August 4th. With so much to do I won’t really have time to sit and mope. I suppose this is a good thing.

Lil Mama is now fully potty trained. No diapers or wipes to be found around these parts. She is even starting to go on her own…but if the light is out in the bathroom no haps. I “stared” she says, and “stared” means scared.

I have been on a mission to take better care of Lil Mama’s hair. Y’all know how much of a hair person I am not. I can cornrow really well and I’ve been known to sew in a weave or three. Yes, me. That’s how I made money in college.  I tried out a coconut oil and honey prepoo on her hair and I am a believer. I was putting ponytails in it and her edges were starting to be affected so I have been two strand twisting or cornrowing it. I have seen an improvement over the past few weeks. Now to be consistent.

.

My son took his first flight alone from Las Vegas to here on July 5th. I was a nervous wreck. He did fine. He was such a big boy. My dad bribed him with an iPod. I really didn’t want him to have one then my dad had to remind me that he bought me a Gameboy when I was his age…Wellllllllllllll…..moving on. Could I be a hater?

.

My son is taking up soccer for the fall. I am looking forward to seeing how he enjoys it. Truth be told I never really thought he liked football much. He requested soccer and luckily we didn’t miss registration so I guess I’m now a soccer mom.

I’ll start doing house updates sometime next week.

Enough about our goings on. How are you? What’s been going on in your world?
