Children Lil Man Weekend

Fun Friday

I did it. I survived the summer. It’s over.

This has been one loooong summer. At times it feels like it slow poked and at others it flew by. But I’m going to say the general consensus is with no less than four children in my care at least a week at a time with breaks here and there when they switched and went to my inlaws, this was the summer that I thought would never end.

Last night my stepdaughter went home and I went to Lil Man’s Kindergarten orientation..it’s official! Monday, school bells ringing.

Soo, I’ve decided not to let Lil Man ride the school bus. After I spoke with his teacher, who I loooove by the way she confirmed my thoughts that the bus is super rowdy and if I am able to drop and pick up to do that. I’ve also decided on packing lunch..saw the menu..say no more.

Now things can go back to normal. I can start blogging, taking photos and grocery shopping once a week instead of everyday trying to feed these kids. I feel like August 1 is a new beginning and I am treating it as such. Time to get back to work on my endeavors..I’m planning a mom’s night out event here in Atlanta…deets coming soon!

The fall for me is action packed. Time for shuffling Lil Man to piano, football practice and the newly added Tae Kwon Do two days a week along with my marathon training and I am going to be busy. We will be doing quite a bit of traveling. I am looking forward to fall my favorite time of the year. The living room is going to get a makeover and I want to do a few decorative things around the house via thrifting and DIY projects..Lawd. It will all be blogged. Promise.

Welp, tomorrow its going down. I’m doing a flash mob. Yasssss….Meeeeee.  Just one of those things to say you’ve done. Cross y’alls fingers that the Mr. comes out and tapes it so I can post here for your viewing and laughing pleasure.

Have a great weekend…What’s on your agenda?

In other news:

The summer is wrapping up for us and I am looking forward to everything going back to normal. School here starts on August 1, so I am in the process of getting Lil Man ready for Kindergarten *sniffles*  I can’t believe it. He is really pressing the issue about riding the school bus and I’m just not sure. Furthermore I’m stressing because I want to pack him lunches and send him with a lunchbox and smiley face notes. His dad says that’s lame. Is it?

Lil Mama left on Saturday morning to spend some time with her godmother in Fl. I miss her, but I was becoming a little unraveled. I needed a few days to myself. She’ll be back tomorrow. I will be refreshed by then.  Lil Mama is growing so fast, and has turned into quite the bully. Slapping and biting are her weapons of choice.

Well, after completing the 10K I have decided in an effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle I am going to start training for a half marathon. YES 13.1 miles. Me. <–. The plan is to do two. One in Savannah in November and the Disney Princess in February. I’m going to really keep track of my progress on the blog through a new app I found for my phone..you know accountability. With you all watching me, I will feel like a failure if I slack off and don’t go through with it. Don’t let me fall off. Okay?

I haven’t been taking as many photos as I would like trying to keep peace in the house with the kids. I did order some business cards from this site called Moo. If you need cards you have to go there. The quality is awesome and they are very reasonable.

Welp, that’s enough of my ramblings. How was your weekend?

Manners Stink

Hey Everybody!! Hope your weekend was well.

I haven’t done much in the area of reviews but I am starting to get some pitches so I am very anxious to give you my opinions on some products and the such. *Don’t freak out* this will not turn into a review only blog! I only plan to review items I think will be beneficial to you in some form or fashion.

I was recently sent a copy of a children’s book entitled “Manners Stink” by Demika Caldwell. When I pulled it out of the mailbox I was floored at how awesome the illustrations were before I read a word of the story.

The story is based on the author’s own daughter Kennedy, and her trip to an etiquette class or ed-a-kit as stated by Kennedy in the book! I enjoyed the book for a number of reasons. In being truly honest, there are few children’s books that I have come across that I feel my children can relate to when it comes to diversity. I loved that Demika made it a point to include all races of children through out the story’s plot and illustrations.

The prose in which the book was written made me feel as if Kennedy wrote it. That’s a great thing seeing that this is a children’s book. My son loved the story and even learned a thing or two about manners. I am looking forward to her follow up “Stinky Boys”! Please make sure to support Demika and her growing collection of children’s books. We often get caught up in providing clothing and other necessities for our children forgetting that books/reading are integral components to our children’s educational growth.

Demika Caldwell lives in Chicago, IL with her husband and two daughters Kennedy and Kaitlyn. You can connect with Demika via Twitter, Facebook, and her Blog

I’ll leave you with my son’s favorite illustration from the book! Dueces or Peace…you choose!
