Holidays Lil Mama Me mommy

Holiday Recap and Randomness

Hope everyone’s holiday was great. Ours went well and I can honestly say I am glad it is over and I am looking forward to making some big things happen in 2011. I stuck to my guns and kept the gifts for the children minimal and who would know they didn’t even notice the difference, and our pockets are all the more thankful for it.

In true “me” fashion, I waited until Christmas Eve to do the majority of my shopping. Foolish yes, but I got some great deals and managed to get my husband and mother in law taken care of at about oh 5:30 or so (mall closed at 6). The adrenaline, the rush…can’t beat it, I work best under pressure. While wrapping presents, I had a mini meltdown. I knew the tears would come for my mother, I just didn’t know when. They came, I cried, I wiped my tears and kept going. She’s proud..I have to believe that.

Lil Mama enjoyed her first Christmas and who would’ve known that her very first one would be historic . For those not aware, the monster northeastern winter storm started down here in the good ‘ole south and Atlanta got a sizable dusting of snow giving us a White Christmas.

Interest was short lived..shortly after this was taken I found her playing with the scrap pieces of wrapping paper

I think I fought with the kids over the Wii more than they fought with each other and I feel like I’ve been in a physical fight. Sore is the operative word! We spent the evening at my uncle’s house and we all played the Just Dance game. OMG, halfway through Proud Mary, I thought I was going to collapse. I promise to entertain you with a video of me doing it once I get my own copy of the game..somebody remind me!

Moving on…

So basically we went from Christmas to Valentines Day. Retailers sure know they can overkill. You would  think we could at least get our Christmas trees down, ornaments packed away, and pay a credit card bill from Christmas before seeing a sea of red hearts and Cupids. Seriously. I guess the name of the game is while everyone is still in the buying mood might as well push that box of chocolates that will hang out in the closet for the next month and a half. Sheesh!!

Speaking of moving on…

So sad, the R&B world lost a phenomenal singer. Teena Marie was an extraordinary singer who crossed color lines with her soulful voice. I never saw her as a “white”singer, I saw her as a woman that was one of the best that ever did it. My mother was a huge fan of hers and hearing of her untimely death brought back memories of me as a child sitting around watching my mother put the needle to Teena’s records..yes, I said records! I know if my mother was here she would be saddened to hear of her death. So in memory of Teena and my mother, here is Portugese Lover..My Mama’s favorite “cut”!!

How was your holidays?

Have a great week!!

Family Holidays Lil Mama

Impromptu Thanksgiving

I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving went well. The family and I were set to head to my hometown Washington D.C. for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, after I picked Lil Mama up from spending the weekend with her godmother she was really sick. Once we got back home, I realized she was running a fever and had an extremely nasty cough and a ton of congestion. Called the Dr. to see if I could give her anything, he heard her couging through the phone and told me to take her to the Urgent Care.

Off we go, it was like a club up in there, poor sick babies were everywhere. After two hours of waiting we were seen, and Lil Mama was diagnosed with two ear infections, bronchialitis and NO TRAVEL! Oh well, Lil Mama is more important so I called the Mr. and told him our travel plans were grounded and I was going to drop her home and head to the store to get food for Thanksgiving.

Bwahahaha..he shut that idea down. Y’all know I don’t cook, I was willing to try but he stated Thanksgiving is not the time to experiment. I got on the phone, made some calls and found us a spot to crash for Thanksgiving. The food, and company was awesome. I wasn’t required to cook anything, but I volunteered to do all of the cleaning, that was the least I could do!

Lil Mama enjoying a turkey bone on her first Thanksgiving…excuse her hair she doesn’t like bows

Black Friday we headed to the outlets not far from my house..you know you live deep in the burbs when the outlet is 20 minutes from your house. I got some good deals on clothes for the babies, but me not so much. The Mr. stood in line for 1 hour and 30 minutes for ONE Polo sweatsuit that turned out to be too small #men. We left about 3a and I thought I would be heading to Target or Walmart and instead opted for my bed, too much. I don’t think I will be participating next year, just a bunch of hype, too many people and aggravation.

I started on my Christmas mantle, just need to grab some garland with the lights in it and a few finishing touches from Ikea to finish it off and I will show you all the finished product some time this week.

Enough about me..how was your Thanksgiving and Black Friday adventures? How are your Christmas decorations if any coming along?

Sugar and Spice and Little Pink Dresses

….that’s what little girls are made of! Soooo from reading my posts the past few days you see that my life has been full o’ drama..I’m over it now and on to getting ready for the holidays. That means plotting on things to buy. Lil Mama has to be extra smoochalicious on her first Christmas.

When I found out I was pregnant with Lil Mama, after thanking God for answering my prayers and blessing me with a baby girl, my mind went immediately to images of her wearing Tutu’s, frilly girly girl dresses, hairbows..you know all the things that make having a girl so awesome. I have probably visited a million websites looking at these things and recently came across mylittlepinkdress.com
This site has everything from clothing, to decor, to accessories for the baby diva to the pickiest tweenager. Great site for easy Christmas shopping, what’s not to love when a site offers Gift Certificates. I’m sure you’ll find something at Little Pink Dress that your daughter, niece, god child, cousin, besties child, or even Lil Mama would like to receive as a gift! Shop during the month of November and you can use the code littlepink to get 15% off of your total purchase.
Check out these fab finds that I have added to Lil Mama’s Favorite Things List. If Oprah’s good enough to have one, so is my baby girl!! You know I’m the baby whisperer so when I pointed to these items she either laughed or drooled..that’s a sign of approval. I sure hope the packages come on a day when the Mr. is not working from home..

I love hot pink, black and white…Can’t you tell!

Lil Mama Milestones My Babies

Five Fabulous Months!

Addison,
You turned five months on October 12. At your four month doctors appointment you weighed 13lbs. 8oz. and you don’t return to the Dr. until you are six months.During this month you got your ears pierced, tasted a little cereal for the first time. You are still breastfed and are NOT sleeping through the night on a consistent basis. When nursing you like to grab my lips or swing your little arms and hit me in the face. You are smiling and laughing alot. You still cannot sit up by yourself, although you are trying. You blow a ton of spit bubbles and can wet up a bib and shirt like nobody’s business. You are now rolling over big time, and we can’t take our eyes off of you for one second, lest you hit the floor.
You can surely turn into a Diva at a moments notice..just like your mama!!
You are reaching for everything and refuse to stay in the swing or your bouncy seat.
You and your brother are interacting more, and it warms my heart
We don’t particularly like for you to fall asleep in this thing, but you seem to like it more than the bed
When sleeping in the bed most of the time your little butt butt is in the air and other times…
you find it hard to keep your little hands and feet inside
You found your toes and….
it is not uncommon for your bib to turn into a cape
You are the princess of this house and are waited on hand and foot. Thus this photo of you in chill mode enjoying one of your favorite past times…sucking on your socks.
