{#OurProject52} Silhouette

I had every good, great and epic intention to grab a sihouette photo of my kids this week and then life. I have one still in school and other obligations and yeah. So as usual I went scrolling through all of the million pictures stored in my phone sure that I would come across one suitable for this weeks challenge and found a few I suppose could roll as “silhouette”

they said dinner could wait, and are now upset because an extension cord is missing and the reindeer can't go out until tomorrow. To be a kid again at Christmas

Tip:When I think of silhouette I think of a dark outline against a light background but for this post’s purpose I’m looking at a silhouette as an outline showing the shape of something. Easily turn something to its side or shoot it against a very light background to get a more traditional sense of a silhouette.

Be sure to go and see what take Lashawn has on “silhouette” this week. Looking forward to stopping by! Thank you for continuing to stop by and link up!

{#OurProject52} Framed

Photography is a great way to not only capture the moment but to also capture exactly what was going on in the background to really tell a story. Every photo won’t be like that but if you are taking a photo of your child’s expression, try to capture exactly what it was that caused the reaction. It makes for a more compelling photo.

On this particular day, Lil Mama was really having a hard time listening. It was a Sunday, and it was  before her bedtime. Although it wasn’t time to eat, I decided to let her eat her dinner early so she could go to bed.

I captured the whole kitchen along with the sun shining through the window to make the point that she seemed so #unbothered to be eating dinner alone, knowing she was headed to bed a little early. I could’ve just captured her expression but I don’t feel like I would remember the story as to why she was eating alone with a dusk glow from the window.

Tip: Before you snap a photo, look around to see if there are other objects that can help tell the story

Thank you for participating in the link up last week. Don’t forget to jump in when ever the spirit moves you. We’ll be glad to have you. Be sure to visit Lashawn to see what she is “framing” this week.

{#OurProject52} Motherhood

Becoming a mother has been my greatest accomplishment two times over. To be honest, these past few months motherhood has really been testing my patience. My son is easing his way toward preteen foolery and my 5 year old thinks she’s 20 on a good day so I’m being tested in these new waters as my children stretch and grow…..and work my nerves.

I enjoy taking photos of them together because as an only child that always wondered what it would be like to have a sibling I enjoy watching them grow, fight and care for each other. These are memories that they will look back upon as they grow older. Here are a few of my favorite photos that I’ve taken of these little personalities that call me Mom.

{#OurProject52} Black and White Photography

I love Baseball season, and that’s a good thing because it has been consuming our evenings as we try to make up all of the games we missed during the April monsoon last month. I can’t say I feel like my son is giving it all of his effort but he is having fun.

This is where my husband and I differ because he believes at this age he should really be trying harder than he is, but I figure my son is very academically inclined and maybe sports…or this sport is not his thing. We’ll be trying tennis in the Summer. I suppose we’ll keep trying sports out until we find the one that he seems very passionate about.

…or maybe it’s the fact that we allow them to spend more time indoors on electronics than playing outside with friends like we did as children. Playing or not, I’m convinced our athletic skills were sharpened as we played fun games of kickball and double dutch in the neighborhood.

Tip: If you took a great photo but the color or the exposure seems off, turning the photo black and white won’t fix all of your problems but it may help save the photo. Trying darkening the blacks and playing with the saturation to get a look you desire.
