Making a Dollhouse a Home

About that dollhouse that just missed a drop kicking on Christmas Eve.

As the year started coming to a close and all reminders of Christmas were being removed the first thing on my list was to transfer the dollhouse into Addison’s room. I finally got to it this weekend and I realized there were only a few viable spots in her room for it to go without blocking a vent.

After a little moving and rearranging we decided the best place for it would be against the wall so that she would have a good amount of room to play

Dolls and dollhouses come with more accessories than the average woman. Seeing that I am on a mission to make sure everything in our home has a space to reduce clutter, I decided to deal with the million pieces of plastic nonsense right then.

I dug out some mason jars I purchased from the Dollar Tree and decided to use them to house some of the smaller items and clothing.

She’s happy. That’s all that matters!

While I was in there making a few changes I went ahead and added a little something to the corner where I spray painted her name sign.

I found this arrow at Hobby Lobby for about $5 on clearance. I like it, added a little something to that blank space. I think that corner may be the only place in the house I consider finished.

Did you accomplish anything around the house this weekend?

Let me tell you, I filmed my entire weekend to kick off a new series where I upload a vlog of our entire weekend on Mondays. Well went to edit and all of my footage got lost. I guess I’ll try again next weekend 🙁

Aww love the dollhouse and Addison’s room is looking adorable. I use plastic bins (shoebox size) to house all of the little accessories but love the mason jars idea. I’m trying to tackle a few spaces and hopefully they make it up on the blog! Happy New Year!

Such sweet pictures of Addison. I can only imagine how you felt on Christmas Eve with that thing, but it’s worth it, right?! LOL.

One of my goals for the year is to declutter my house. So I will be putting your Mason Jar tip to use.

Mason jars are amazing. I have an obsession with them. The ones at the Dollar Tree aren’t as decorative as some of the other but with a label you won’t be able to tell the difference.

The mason jar tip is a good idea. I had all of Savannah’s bows and ponytail holders in these tiny tupperware containers. She got a hold of them and I haven’t seen a container or bow since. That was a lesson to me to keep those kind of items out of her room. This past weekend we went thru the house and got rid of “stuff”. I finally got up the nerve to giveaway some of those club dresses from my college days. Why was I holding on to them anyway? It was fun trying them on again before bagging them up and taking them to Goodwill.

We possess four children, two in diapers. Immediately my better half just conveys two or three diapers, a insufficient wipes, a couple of emptiness baggies and a pacifier exactly in her tote. We stay some additional garments in the rear of the minivan. Everything else is sauce.
