What’s Really Going On

Weekend Wrap Up is being replaced this week because the majority of my weekend was spent nursing a very sick baby, entertaining my dad and getting this house ready for pictures.

Friday the baby had a very high fever so we rushed her to the emergency room at 2a, got no diagnosis and ended up having to take her to Urgent Care Sunday morning where she was diagnosed with Strep. So I functioned this weekend off of about 4 hours of sleep, some Ginger Ale and a prayer.

Other than that I feel like I haven’t been around these parts much. To be honest last week I seriously contemplated shutting this little blog down. Not because I don’t love you all, because I do but rather because I thought I was at a loss of words and things to talk about. After my bloggy BFF Trina talked me down off the cliff out of my slump I have decided to continue to blog here.

I think I was starting to pressure myself to be THAT blog. While I know I have the capabilities to make it happen I have decided that I don’t want blogging to become a chore. I want it to remain something that I enjoy without being work. With that being said moving forward there will likely be a lot of silence in these parts in the coming months. Then there will likely be times of excessive chatter, it will all depend on my mood and where I am.

Right now I’m in a space where I don’t have much to say, I’m filtering through some things personally and I just haven’t felt like it. I hope y’all will still love me for it and hopefully I can continue growing this blog without being guilted into it.

I know I haven’t been commenting much on your blogs but I’ve been reading. Give me another week to get on the good foot and I’ll be back to normal!

Enough of that.

Hope all is well with you all. What’s been going on lately in your neck of the woods?

  1. I completely understand! I’m at the same place. Sometimes I have a lot to say, sometimes not. I think what is helping me is that I am taking pictures everyday and that gives me something to post. Because I don’t always have the time or the words. I had to stop and realize that i won’t be THAT blog. that doesn’t mean I don’t want to do things or have grand plans, but putting it in perspective, there are more important things going on in my life right now that I need to focus on. One day at a time. One foot in front of the other.
Pookah was at the hospital this weekend too. Another allergic reaction. bad one this time. That’s all I can muster up the energy to say.
Good luck on the house. Hope everything works out there.
Don’t worry about us, we’ll be around.
    Take care of you.

  3. I’m VERY glad to hear that lil mama’s diagnosis is something that can be easily treated! I hope that you both feel better soon!

I’ve been so busy working in my business and taking care of babies that I don’t really have time to blog like I want to, which led me to discover that I actually much prefer vlogging! It’s so much simpler to just whip out the camera and SAY what I’m trying to say. If I could figure out how to make the videos upload faster though….

My weekend was spent working, braiding, going on a “mommy date” and going to church, then cooking for friends!

  4. I completely understand. I went through that the last 2-3 months of last year. I stopped forcing myself to blog weekly and just did posts when I had something I really wanted to say. It gave me time to do other things that I enjoy and I think the semi-vacation from blogging helped me refocus what I want to blog about and helped me come up with new content. Now, I feel like I’m out of my slump (and like you, I no longer feel any sort of pressure on myself to be THAT blog). Don’t rush yourself or force yourself to pump out blog posts. Take as much time as you need. Your blog will be that much better for it!

  5. Oh honey! We’ve all been there. I’m glad that your BFF talked you out of shutting down your blog. Hiatuses are definitely okay, though. Your blog should be a positive outlet and definitely not a chore. it’s good to take a break and come back refreshed.

My babies have all been hit with something or other over the past few weeks, so I empathize! I’m glad that baby girl is feeling better. Fevers are scary 🙁

  6. I hope she is feeling better! I think a hiatus is good every once in awhile! Definitely gives u a chance to reflect and focus on the people around u vs what is going on online. completely understandable!!!!

  7. I am glad she is a little better saw her getting into stuff on facebook. I think you should take one day at a time and do what feels right. Taking a break is good and I try to do that especially when the kids are on break. Focus on you blogging will be around forever.

  8. I’ve been there, just recently so I know exactly how you feel. I think every blogger has felt the way that you have and the way that you feel. And that’s ok. I thought about shutting down my blog because there were times where I didn’t know what to say after been gone for so long and other times, I just had so much going on with my life I really didn’t have the desire to blog. And when I did regularly, it felt like an obligation. But now it doesn’t. I take the time that I need and whoever remains, remains. I’ve met some wonderful people through blogging, you included, and it’s because of the connections that I made that I want to continue blogging.

  9. Girl! You know I totally understand how you feel. I went through the same thing. Take some time away whenever you need to. Blogging shoud be fun and not a chore. When I started my blog it grew so fast that it threw me for a loop, plus I was dealing with infertility issues so I just went away and took some time off. I updated every now an again but it was the solace that I needed as I got my life in order. If you ever need to chat, just shoot me an email. I’m here for my sister..always.

  10. Totally understood. I believe all of us bloggers get to a point like that. Wanting to be THAT blog but then fall short or believe we are falling short for whatever reason. Take time for you and rest, and blog when you can! Girl you are in my blogLovin’ so when you write, I will see ya! !LOL!!!

When I have the baby, who knows what I will feel like so I HEAR YA!

  12. I can understand exactly what you’re saying– if you check my last post–it’s dated November 28th 🙂 I’ve been dealing with A LOT of personal issues and just haven’t had the energy nor drive to commit to the bloggy BUT life goes on and I feel that blogging helps me in some weird way so I will be returning back and I hope to see you back as well! You’re one of the first blogs that I started to read daily and even if I haven’t blogged in almost 2 months I still check your blog for a daily dose of realness 🙂 Thanks to Trina for bringing you back to us–lol 🙂

  13. im glad little boo boo is getting better. I feel the same way about my blog right now. I don’t have much to say but I also don’t feel any pressure. We’ll be here when you feel like writing. Don’t worry about that part at all.

  14. It’s okay to take breaks. My first year blogging, I was barely cranking out 5 posts for the first couple of months. We all understand that life happens and sometimes you have to focus other issues outside of blogging. I can’t speak for anybody else but I’m not going anywhere. So take all the time you need.

  15. Blogging should be fun, Mimi. Period.

And I know that’s easy to say coming from someone who doesn’t have a blog like yours, but don’t feel obligated to crank out anything for US. This is YOUR spot. And people who truly enjoy your blog will be back if you post tomorrow or six months from now.

Take a break if you need it. We’ll be back regardless.
