Beauty Me

Face Time

I’m 32. I would like to think I will forever have my youthful looks…you know Benjamin Button style, some of that Tuck Everlasting magic fountain action. Unfortunately, I know that’s highly unlikely so I have lately been giving thought to finding a skin care system that I can start using now to reduce the signs of aging.

I have given little to NO attention to my skin up until this point. My skin isn’t flawless and I’m sure it could be much better if I gave it a inkling of attention but who has the time. Anywho, the other day I was in Walmart and was perplexed at all of the choices for skin care. It was all kinds of overload to the extent that I just left and didn’t buy anything. I know my skin type is combination thanks to the nice Mary Kay lady at a party I attended. I have heard great things about their Time Wise collection but me being me..it costs too d*%n much. However, the more I keep asking around it looks like I am looking to spend a mini fortune on a good skin care regimen. I just don’t want to.

I have heard good ‘ole soap and water will get the job done..to sticking my head over steaming water in a pot once a week..I could go on and on with these home remedies but I’m just not sure if they actually work. I am suddenly obsessed with finding something that will work for me.I think I am in a thirties, third life, crisis. Get it..30’s, I’m almost 33. No?

Here’s where you come in. What do you wash your face with. Does the washrag and water get it for you. Are you team Neutrogena, Olay, Mary Kay, Avon, Estee Lauder, Noxema, etc…. I need your help. I’m going to do it by popular vote…that’s the only place I know  to start. I need to look like Iman when I’m 55, and the way these pores and dark spots are looking I just might need the next 23 yrs to get there!

This is a great question and one that I am sure many women ponder. Honestly, there are a lot of great products out there, it just depends on your needs and budget. I use the MK Time Wise cleanser and moisturizer (mostly in the winter), I know there are several components to it but these are the two that I use. However, some days I just use plain water to get the job done because products do cost $$$ so I try to ration it out. lol Neutrogena does have a good line of skin care too, so I have heard. Yes, I am in the fabulous 30+ club too and want to ensure I am able to get into the fabulous 50’s club when that time comes.

I have used MK a lot, plain soap and water, Philosophy, and now I’m using Clinique’s 3 step stuff. But I will say through all my skin care products what really works for me is drinking a ton of water and moisturising with a heavy body cream made of shea butter. My skin is combo in the face and dry everywhere else.

If you drink water a lot. That is the key right there.

Team Aveeno! If I stick with my routine (when I remember) my skin is always fresh and glowing.

I have heard water does wonders. But I use regular soap and water on my face (dove). There are so many products out there I have no idea which one would be good. I have heard mary kay has a great product but I think every skin type is different.

I am Team Neutrogena. That is what my dermatologist recommends for me. I use their Visibly Even line.

I do have problem skin and I used Olay and immediately saw results. I’m still looking for the perfect skin care treatment (if there is one). And thanks for telling me about Etsy! I found so many great things that will make their birthday fabulous!

I use a little bit of everything
    Philosophy for make up removal
Proactive when I get a little break out
Origins for moisturizing and wrinkle control
Meaningful beauty for ongoing aging control
I am big believer if you were make up you must remove it first then clean the skin so that a two step process for me.

    Hope that helps!

Does Iman have a skin care line? I could be mistaken but I think she does.

I use dove soap and water on mine. I also do a facial scrub once or twice a week. ( st.ives aprocot)

I am Team Oil of Olay.. I have used it for 10 years and I do not get pimples and my skin is uber smooth… I sometimes do a chemical peel (once every couple of months) but that is to refresh my skin…

Olay cleanser and moisturizer is all I use. I went through a very bad skin period and was using so many different products. The breakouts kept getting worse. Now that I stick to those 2 products my I rarely get breakouts. Love it and it’s simple.

    My two cents:
I’ve always had oily, acne-prone skin and I’ve tried lots of products. As I get older, less is more. My dermatologists have always recommended a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or Purpose and moisturizer is key for maturing skin. I prefer something oil-free – I love Origins moisturizers. However, I love pure grapeseed oil as a moisturizer and makeup remover and this is what I’m using currently. Believe it or not, it’s superlight and feels amazing if you use it very lightly. The Body Shop also has an awesome vitamin E spray moisturizer that is awesome for summer (it’s very light, more hydrating than moisturizing). I invested in a clarisonic which has been a game changer for me. For me, weekly exfoliating helps my skin to look fresher…gets rid of that dull look that skin can get sometimes ya know? I also use a Yes to Tomatoes pore tightening mask occasionally when my pores start looking huge. When I have a breakout, I use the drying lotion by Mario Badescu.

First – you do have flawless skin! I sent you : )

I love Mary Kay, I think its a great start. I know use bobby brown skin care but sometimes go back to Mary Kay if I am out. Moisturizer is a must!!! Invest in a good one.

Before I got pregnant I took meds prescribed by my dermatologist for my problem skin. I stopped a few months before we began TTC. My skin was fine at the beginning of my pregnancy but near the end, I face was a wreck. It has cleared a little in the the past 8 months but I don’t want to go back on the meds. Right now, I’m using LUSH’s Angels on Bare Skin and Herbalism facial cleansers. They are all natural products, which I like. However, I’m still not sure I’ve locked in the best regimen for me.

I understand, totally! I subscribe to the good black don’t crack motto!!!! However, I moisturize and use sunscreen daily. I Like the following products: Cetaphil soap and lotion, African black soap and vitamin E, ponds to remove makeup, and apricot scrub once a week as needed!!!!
I have very sensitive skin and this is my tried and true regimen. Not for nothing, you look great and should not worry about aging!! Don’t forget to wear sunscreen while your training for your marathon. Good luck.
