Health Mimi

Weight a D@*n Minute

I’m just going to jump right into this post.

I can’t fit any of my clothes and I’ve been feeling really horrible and sluggish lately and I’m certain it has everything to do with the fact that I’ve been sedentary for the past few months.

I’ve gained some weight and I’m totally fine with that, except I can’t sit down without unbuttoning my pants and I’m not in the mood to go on a new jeans shopping spree so I’m setting out on a fitness journey that will hopefully become more of a lifestyle for me this time around than a quest to stay in my current size.

Truthfully speaking in my head I’m still in my late twenties. I know.

REALITY speaking says I am 5 short years from 40 and I need to get serious about my health. I’ve been having chest pains sporadically and my joints hurt and yeah…I just. I don’t know. I can’t.

I can’t sit around and continue to think that my body isn’t getting older and needs a little help to be at it’s best. It’s showing me that daily and I would be a fool to ignore it.  I’ve been managing my blood pressure and cholesterol well but I need to get my arse up and move. I suppose the metabolism that “I was blessed” with as people say has had it’s run and is throwing me the deuces. I “ain’t got no worries” on that. I been dying for some boot- tay but not at the cost of being unhealthy.

I’m not planning to obsess cause when I push myself too hard I don’t stay with it. I’m taking this at my own pace and setting a goal to run a 5K sometime by the end of the year with a 10 minute mile. However long it takes me to get there is how long it will take.

If I fall off…I’m sure I will. I’ll just get up and start again. I’m promising myself it won’t be months again.

I just want to be well, strong, and healthy and look well in my clothes. That’s it.

I’m hoping this encourages some of you to get moving.

Are you on a fitness journey? How are you staying motivated? Do you need to get moving? What’s stopping you?

I just delivered my baby three weeks ago. I was already overweight when I got pregnant so needless to say, I’ve got quite a bit of weight to lose. I love how you said you’re not going to pressure yourself. I don’t blame you. I’m going to pace myself as well. Just going to drink lots of water, take my whole food capsules and try to get in lots of walking! We’re strong mid – thirties women!! We can do this!

i am 3 weeks shy of 35 and actually in progress of writing a similar post. I’ve been slacking and it’s shorts weather out here on the west and none of mine fit. At least not comfortably. the superfit mom I became post baby #2 has since given way to a tired toddler mama who just wants to sleep. But I’ve started back on my workout routine and did a squat challenge last month. This month I’m (semi) doing a beach body challenge along with my favorite DVD’s and this week I’ve challenged myself to commit to 5 workouts. I’m on Day 2 and let me tell you it was HARD to get up this morning and get it in but once it’s done…..I’m always so glad I did! I’ve been sleeping better and having more energy throughout the day as well. so I’m hoping I stick with it and not just until I can fit back into my shorts. Because I have no budget to be buying all new everythang.

So about a week ago, I was getting dressed for work and realized that none of my pants fit. Now I had been avoiding the scale for Weeks! And stress eating. I stepped on the scale and lost my religion. See, my metabolism has come to a complete stop. And forty is TWO years away. Ain’t nobody got time to be unhealthy with a 4 year old! And then, the past weekend, I visited my dad and saw first hand the damage that not getting myself back into shape can do. So Monday, I worked out. This morning, I ran. I actually logged every last single thing I are in my fitness pal. And was appalled yesterday. I’ve got a goal.im not quite ready to share because I’m not sure I’m going to do it, but I’m on this journey with you! We can do this!!

You are 5 years from 40 and I am 5 months…my biggest advice? Find something you LOVE! That will help you stick with things. I hate running and as much as I want to love it, I just don’t. I do okay at the gym but can find a way to half ass it and not see the result I should. Enter Pure Barre…when they opened even closer to our home? I figured it had to be a sign and so now 4 months later I am still going religiously. Summer is about to throw me for a loop (no school) but I have already prepaid for 6 months, so hell or high water I am finding a way to keep going!

I’m not a big fan of working out and I too gained some unwanted pounds I’m blaming it on the long winter!! I try to walk as much as possible and I’ve been cutting back on the sweets which is my problem. I also use the fitnesspal app to help keep track of how many calories I’m eating and how exercise (my walking) impacts my daily intake. I’ve lost about 2lbs in the 4 weeks but I’m ok with that slow progress is better than no progress. I just want to lose my muffin top…that is al!! Good luck with your journey.

I lose most of my weight in the summer because it’s to hot to eat and to hot to cook so I drink a lot which causes m to lose a few lbs. I hate exercising but I can eat right so I will stick with that for now.

Good luck on your fitness journey. Getting healthy is definitely a lifestyle change. I’m glad our new apartment has a community gym because I won’t have so far to go if I want to go to the gym instead of working out at home. And don’t forget to get the family involved or find a workout partner. My sister and a blogging friend are my fitness partners and we’ve been keeping each other motivated to eat right and get some kind of physical activity. So far, so good.

Yeah I need to move my booty. I have been putting it off and keeping myself busy with a million other things. I used to be so on point when it came to working out. I’ve fallen off.

I’ve been on this journey for years. Actually I don’t think I’ll ever get off of it hahaha. It’s hard to find the time to do something, but I find that I just have to take it slow. Never mind what other people are doing, just take it slow, close your eyes, and focus on your journey. That’s all you can do.

Good luck on your fitness journey. I’ve been trying to get back into the habit of running but my lethargy wins every morning, noon, and night. -_- I have started making it a habit to ride my bike more often and most of the time, my daughter joins me. I really want to work on toning but time is not on my side. I’ll have to sit down and really come up with a schedule and actually STICK to it.
