I have an obsession with barn doors. I think they put the most eclectic touch to living spaces. When we were looking for houses I was always on the lookout for a space that could accommodate an interior barn door. I wasn’t even sure where to look to get barn doors, but I knew when the time came I would find someone and I am glad to know that Specialty Doors will be the place we go when it’s time to get ours done.
As much as I would like to see a barn door on the main level of our home the space is not feasible, so the next best thing is the basement. Our basement currently houses a wine cellar/room. While a cute novelty it serves no purpose for us and I would rather re purpose the space with shelving from floor to ceiling for books, games, pictures and other knick knacks. A space that would be perfectly flanked by a barn door.
I can’t wait to get to the basement and start renovating down there. The Halloween decor is played out. I have big plans for this space and my barn door is going to be amazing…eventually.
In addition to barn doors, Specialty Doors also offers hardware, accordion doors and other solutions to transform living areas into fashionable and functional spaces. If you ever walked into a house that has brass door knobs you know that a detail as small as a door knob can date a house and Specialty Doors can help with these minor details that make a large impact when updating a living space.
I am looking forward to sharing the transformation of our living spaces with you and hopefully they will inspire you to make some changes to your areas. I promise the smallest changes have the biggest impact.
Do you love barn doors?

January 27, 2014 at 4:02 pmI love the look of the barn door. If you want to block off a space you may be able to use it there. B/w kitchen and dinning.

January 27, 2014 at 6:04 pmA barn door in the right spot is beautiful. I also like barn wood that they use when they tear down an old barn. That wood is weathered just perfect.

January 27, 2014 at 11:29 pmI love barn doors as well, I’m going to try to talk my husband into putting some on our bedroom now. They wouldn’t look great but who cares lol. But the doors you currently have in that area are gorgeous until you can get your barn doors!

January 28, 2014 at 12:04 amIt would be really awesome to have a barn door somewhere in lieu of a sliding door. My sister in law kept wanting to put one to block off their master bathroom. They never got around to it before they moved, though.

January 28, 2014 at 7:04 amBarn doors are very cool, but I’m not sure if I would have a place for one in my home. I love the look of them, though.

January 28, 2014 at 8:16 amI love the look of barn doors too. My mom was a waitress when I was young and the restaurant had the coolest swinging doors that I loved going in and out of. I think that specialty doors can really give your home a unique look.

January 29, 2014 at 9:20 amWe don’t have any spaces that would ‘work’ for a barn door but I LOVE them. Especially that first one.

January 29, 2014 at 4:27 pmI love the look of barn doors, too. My husband would never let me use one for decor, though, as he’s more minimalist and modern. Sigh.
