Just Another MANICure Monday

Ahhhh yes, it’s me again. My lovely co hostess with the mostess is having some technical difficulties so I’ll be holding it down solo until she is ready to come back.

I absolutely love white nails on dark skin so I thought since we are well into Spring I would bring out my white. Oddly enough this color is called Lavender Cloud by Sally Hansen but it really does come off as white. I suppose if you look hard enough you will notice a very slight purple tint but not really.

Since I was all plain Jane last week I pepped it up a little with a gold accent nail. I used my fake gold flake better known as Too Fab by Orly. Can’t go wrong with white and gold!

Hey! The weather is finally breaking and I feel amazing.

I missed out last week because I made a mistake and pushed my cuticles back to far and evidently had a cut and I didn’t know it. My finger got infected and was swollen so big I couldn’t bend it. Lesson learned. Please make sure you are careful about these things. After a round of antibiotics my finger is back to normal and here I am with a pretty Spring hue.

No nail art this week. Just a clean, fresh and fun manicure. I used Rimmel’s 60 seconds brand in color 210 Mintilicious. I absolutely love this color. The only complaint I have is I think because it is a quick dry you have to move quickly getting it on your nail or it will turn kind of sticky on you. Most quick dries don’t do this but this one did and I wasn’t fond of it, but I’ll definitely use it again because I love this color.

Time to link up! Can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

Okay. I think I am finally back in the groove of doing my nails weekly.

This week I wanted to use a few colors that I picked up on clearance recently. The Sonia Kashuk I picked up from Target for $1.38 and the Revlon during a recent half off sale at Rite Aid. I can never pass up clearance nail polish. I mean like ever. It’s all fun and games until you have $15 worth of $1.38 nail polish…not that I know.

Sonia Kashuk: Tantalizing Teal

I’m not sure if I like the Muse on me but it looks really pretty in the bottle. This was my first time using the Sonia Kashuk line. It covered well and could completely get the job done in two coats and the brush was pretty awesome.

Your turn! I have started using a new linky tool that doesn’t require you to have a blog so feel free to link up and show your digits if you don’t have an online home. Can’t wait to see what you ladies come up with. Linky is open until Friday.

Just Another MANICure Monday

I am a little late to the party this week but between the fact that my daughter has Scarlet fever AND I lost an hour of sleep I think y’all will be understanding. Since I haven’t had a chance to do my nails this week I am sharing with you my top 3 tips for making your manicure last a week…even through cleaning.

Prior to these steps you want to make sure that you have cleaned, filed and buffed your nails really well.

DIY Manicure

1. Prime your nails: Much like the primer that goes under the paint on a wall, this step will make sure that the nail polish has something to adhere to, increasing your chances of a having your manicure weather the storm. I swear by Orly Bonder. There may be others but I don’t know about them. I only know about Orly Bonder and I love it.

2. Sandwich your coats: Sandwich? Yes, sandwich as in place very thin coats of a good quick dry topcoat between very thin coats of polish. On average I do at least 4 coats…Hey, I’m a mom! I will do two very thin coats, a thin coat of quick dry and another two very thin coats. Key word is THIN, if you make them thick they will bubble and won’t last.

3.Use a good topcoat: Unless you want to reapply your top coat daily I would suggest you shell out the $8-10 and get a good one. For good measure when applying your top coat, lightly brush a thin amount across the tip of your nail every 2-3 days.

Time to show off your manicure for the week. Next week I am going to use a linky that won’t require you to have a blog so everybody is welcome…Get ready!
