Before the end of the year we will be moving to a larger home. In the meantime, we are busting at the seams in this one. Initially I thought I would wait until we moved before I would start putting some organizational tactics into use but the more I look around this place there is no better time than the present to get things in order…besides it will make it easier when its time to move.
But I don’t wanna…I’ont even know where to start. There is so much unnecessary stuff in here that I have to start somewhere. I have been watching that new show on Style called The Amandas and they have managed to inspire me somewhat. Inspired me to peruse Pinterest and that’s about it.
So my goal this weekend is to attack one project and purchase the materials one project at a time. That stuff is expensive. As much as I would loooooove to hit up the Container Store on some “oh money ain’t a thang” making it rain in exchange for shelving, bookcases and closet organizers, I can’t even make it sprinkle up in that joint.
Here is my first project to tackle.
Let me say. My magazines are an extension of my family and throwing them out is NOT an option. Not.At.ALL #magazinehoarder
To add insult to injury I’ve challenged myself to find solutions at the goodwill or other discount retailers because I’m not sure what the decor will be like in our new home so I would rather not spend a ton right now. I just need to get the job done and then we’ll replace with the fancy stuff when we move. I’ll show you what I come up with next week.
…but if my dolla, dolla, bills y’all were real discretionary I would be on some of this right here…

Who knows The Goodwill gods may work in my favor and with a little elbow grease I may end up with something spectacular. We’ll see.
Have you started spring cleaning? If so, what have you done?

March 28, 2012 at 12:32 pmI haven’t really started yet but I like you, I was thinking about starting this weekend. I think I will start with cleaning out the closets and then I will move to getting rid of some the kiddos old, broken and unused toys. Then who knows where I will go from there. I refuse to buy anything else, including storage/organization stuff for the home. I just think I need to throw some stuff away…lol

March 28, 2012 at 12:35 pmMy desk is such a challange! Made a few changes but it is still a hot mess! I need like a amoire (?), you know a cabinet desk to close up and hide things!

March 28, 2012 at 2:41 pmI need to reorganize my closet. Maybe I’ll be able to wear some of the things that are hidden in between/behind others. Once I’m organized I feel calm so looking forward to that.
I love and keep my magazines as well. I look forward to seeing your progress.

March 28, 2012 at 3:21 pmI love magazines but I throw them out after 6 months that’s a main reason I want that ipad so I can just order my magazines on there to save paper. Looking forward to seeing how you organize

March 28, 2012 at 3:44 pmHonestly, we pretty much got rid of everything with our recent move! So much that by the time we are in the house, it’ll be empty! lol
It is good to purge sometimes. Happy cleaning and organizing. 😉

March 28, 2012 at 7:18 pmCheck WalMart and Target. Ours has some of their organizing containers on sale on the clearance aisles. And don’t forget eBay. Lots of hidden treasures on there.

April 1, 2012 at 9:39 pmI’ve been spring cleaning as well. In my head. But I have goals written down somewhere so I think that is a start! 🙂 I really would like to do my closet, and I had started to rid myself of clothing that I will never ever wear again, purging is great for the soul.
