We finally have a menu and it was absolutely none of my doing. For the past four years we have hosted at our home and I have taken charge of planning the menu and doing the shopping but I’m happy to announce that this year the table has turned and my husband is taking over the festivities this year. He is headed to the farmers market in the morning to gather our trimmings.
Everyone including me has been assigned their dish via group text. I was assigned the cranberry sauce. Yes, I shall open the can, tip it over until the cranberry sauce slides out, and the remainder of the time I will be seated with a glass and decorating my house for Christmas.
Did I mention we will be eating off of paper plates and drinking out of paper cups. We are skipping out on fancy this year, and I am truly looking forward to our laid back gathering of friends and family.
I’m thinking of coming up with some fun games like charades and maybe amp every one up to go Christmas caroling. I may get crafty and create some type of silly place settings I’m still thinking through some non traditional things we can do to really focus on being thankful for what this year has given us, specifically each other.
I’m starting to feel flustered at all that must happen in the next four weeks but I’m just breathing through and tackling one day at a time. I encourage you to do the same.
How is your Thanksgiving planning going? Are you cooking or washing the dishes?

November 21, 2017 at 4:43 amI’m on greens duty. Das it. I’m cooking up a gumbo today for the mister since he has to work on Thanksgiving but otherwise it’s chill city.
People are asking for cakes and pies. Don’t think it’s going to happen. Maybe Christmas, maybe not.
