Hi Ladies!! My name is Eboni, and I’m coming to y’all from my blog, The Fashionista Next Door. I am so honored to be guest posting while Mimi is away…and I thought it would be fun to talk about one of my FAVORITE things – LEOPARD PRINT! Lol! My readers already know I consider leopard print to be a neutral. And to prove it, I thought I’d share a variety of looks from my blog’s archives to demonstrate my point. Hopefully, if you don’t have a closet full of leopard print accessories already, you’ll consider adding a few after you read this post…I promise, they’ll change your life. (okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Hehe!)
The Leopard Print Scarf
A leopard print scarf is sure to punch up any look…especially those comprised of casual fabrics, basic silhouettes, or subdued color palettes. And of course, leopard always look stunning paired back to solid bright colors as well…and for the daring among us, try a little print mixing by pairing a leopard scarf with polka dots or stripes.
The Leopard Belt
If you only have ONE leopard print item in your entire wardrobe, I’d say get a belt (although I think it is actually a three way tie with a leopard shoe and a leopard bag…depends on how often you wear belts, I guess…plus a skinnier belt make a smaller statement than the other two if you’re not as big on the print). The thing about a leopard print belt is it goes with all your shoes…I don’t necessarily have belts to match every color shoe in my closet, so when all else fails, usually my leopard belt does the trick! Remember, leopard is a neutral.
The Leopard Shoe
I treat my leopard shoes pretty much the same way I treat my leopard belt…when all else fails, I just throw them on…I think a major difference between how I utilize my leopard print shoes vs. the belt, is I often wear my leopard print shoes with other prints…especially if the print is on my upper body. (that is also a great tip for mixing prints…if the two prints are far away from each, it’s easier to pull o
The Leopard Bag
A leopard bag is another go-to for me when I don’t have a bag that matches my shoes. I actually have three leopard clutches, and I am in the market for a good leopard print shoulder bag. Unfortunately, all my favorites are way outside of my price range. Grr.
So, are you convinced yet? Is there anyone out there that is obsessed with leopard print like me?
XOXO,
Eboni Ifé

May 9, 2012 at 10:49 am*waves hands in the air* – me, me! I am too obsessed with leopard and have just as many items. I even have a FAB pair of button leopard earrings that I wear with darn near everything. I’m with you, leopard is a neutral, but there is caution as it can go all the way wrong (lol). A great visual would be to see the “right” and “wrong” way to wear leopard, so those who don’t believe can see the big difference!

May 9, 2012 at 3:27 pmGreat post! I love all the animal prints & totally agree that they are all neautral! LOL
May I ask on another note, what products do u use in ur hair for your curls.
I’m a curly girl too. But I don’t like product in my hair that makes it heavy &/or sticky. So I usually just flat iron. If I air dry eventually I’m a frizzy mess!

May 9, 2012 at 8:13 pmHey Antonette! I totally know where you’re coming from. I have only mastered the art of air drying my wash-n-go in the last month, believe it or not. Currently, I am using Kinky Curly “Knot Today” and it is AMAZING! it totally tames the frizz, but it is super light weight, and not sticky at all. I love it!

May 9, 2012 at 9:32 pmYes, Yes, YES!!! Leopard print is DEF a neautral and goes with just about anything. Love the way that you have paired the outfits with the perfect splash of leopard. I have seen my share of “too much” leopard at once and it can definitely be a disaster

May 10, 2012 at 8:41 amGreat ideas! Right now, I only have two items in leopard print: a scarf & a purse. I am more of a classic-stylelista, so I tend to use leopard print as my statement piece. My next purchase will be leopard print shoes, I absolutely adore them and the pair your rockin in the pics are FAB!! 🙂
