What’s in My Daughter’s Hair Caddy

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of As I Am® Naturally. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hair wash day can be quite the ordeal around here dependent on the day and how the wind is blowing. The days where she is not tender headed while excitedly perusing Pinterest  for cute hairstyles are slowly starting to outnumber the days where there are tears and repeated requests to hold her head still. I am finding that good hair products as well aid in making the process go smoother.

Controlling her behavior toward getting her hair done is nothing I can totally control outside of making sure I am as patient and gentle with her as possible. I’ve managed to speed the process up by making sure I have all of the products I need in one place and corralled together to keep the area under the sink tidy.

We have two baskets one for washing products and one for post washing.  Her washing basket contains any shampoos, conditioners and oils I use when washing, conditioning and detangling. Currently in her basket is the entire line of As I Am Born Curly, honey, coconut and castor oils, hair clips, and a detangling comb.

We are currently using As I Am Born Curly  products, and my hands down favorite is the Avocado Cowash. It has essentially been on repeat for the past few weeks so much so that I haven’t tried any of the other shampoos.  The Argan Leave-In Conditioner and Detangler has also been working wonders in helping with detangling and the retention of moisture post wash.

The As I Am Born Curly line was created for babies and children up to age 10.  Born Curly is certified organic and carries the NSF seal of approval; anything without that seal can’t be certified as being truly organic.

When it comes to products I rarely throw around the words “must have” but from now on I must have the Shea and Coco Butter Balm.

This stuff is amazing. It can be used on the hair or body. I’ve mixed it in with her regular conditioner as well as used it daily. The consistency is like a whipped butter but a little harder, it melts into a light oil when rubbed between your fingers or hands. No build up with daily use and the smell is light. I’ve also been using it on my hands and it leaves a nice moisturized glow to the skin without looking greasy.

The other products in the line include, Rosemary Vanilla Twist Defining SmoothieNourishing Hair & Body Oil, Aloe Shampoo & Wash and  Argan Curl Defining Jelly

First Day of Fall Fun

The anticipation of our annual trip to the apple orchard makes the days leading up to Fall break extremely exciting for my children. The memories of having the same giddiness as a child amplifies the fun we have on our yearly trip to the North Georgia mountains.

This year we did the major sites of the North Georgia mountains in a matter of hours. We started out a little later than we wanted but that did not hinder us from doing a speedy drive by of the most popular attractions in the area before heading home.

We did the apple orchard.

Make sure to read the sign. I loved it!

We traveled about 20 miles down the road to Amicalola Falls. The elevation was high and the weather was glori0us . We sat and listened to the water fall for awhile. We’ll head back once the leaves start changing hopefully.

We passed these huge pumpkins on our way to the falls and decided to come back and take a closer look after we were done. I’d heard of Burt’s  Farm and how crowded it can be during the Fall season. Glad we happened upon it in it’s calm state. The selection was amazing and totally affordable, we picked up a few before heading home.

Another Fall trip in the books. I am really hoping to plan a trip back there once the weather cools down and bit and it really starts to feel and look like Fall.

Handmade Jewelry Basket

Thank you Pottery Cool for sponsoring this post. Visit Walmart, Target, or Toys “R” Us to pick up this innovative sculpting studio!

It’s Fall Break around here. Seeing that it is still hot as the first days of Summer playing outside isn’t really an option so I’ve been taking some time to enjoy activities with the children indoors.

We’ve made it out to SkyZone and took some shopping trips to the norm like Hobby Lobby, Target, Michaels. However, I still have to work and make money so keeping the little one occupied can get to be a test of my patience. She loves to craft so I set this Pottery Cool set on the table and let her get to work.

Because she can read now she didn’t need much of my help getting it set up so she sent me on my way. My pleasure.

Being able to independently create her own jewelry holder was right up her alley and although she had to be reminded to clean up she didn’t need my help with that either.

The process to create was pretty easy. You put the clay on a mold that attaches to the wheel. While the wheel is spinning you spray water on the clay and mold it with your hands.

The key is you have to let the pottery dry before handling and painting. If you have kids you know hearing can be selective at times so she destroyed her first creation but was happy to pull it out and start again.

You can find  Pottery Cool at Walmart,  and it’s a great way  to pull children from in front of the television and let them express their creativity and independence.

Shoot, I even pushed her to the side for a few to play with the clay. Might I add it was a little therapeutic and gave me thoughts of the movie Ghost.

As we start moving toward the holidays this would make a great gift for the babies in your life who like being creative.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of CLEVER and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Fall Fashion

Functional Fall Fashion

I’m a mom with very busy children, and while I love fashion it needs to be functional for what I am doing.

I’m known to have to sit for hours at a time waiting on ballet lessons or outside at baseball games not to mention all of the errands I try to sneak in where I can and the gym.

Functional fashion is important to me, this week I’m linking up with a fun series called “Moms Do Fall Fashion” to highlight some of our favorite fall fashion looks.

This is a look I will be consistently rocking in some variation or another because it makes sense for my lifestyle.

Since I’ve been trying to hit the gym at least 3 times a week, by Wednesday my hair is not at its best so a cute baseball cap is the way to hide that!

Monogrammed Baseball Cap

I can’t say it or scream it anymore but I am all about the classics. I’m pretty sure if you are fashion challenged a button down, jeans and jacket will make you look instantly put together.

I love a crossbody bag. I need my hands free to hold my phone and to also be forced not to carry my entire life with me wherever I go.
