New Week…Same Hustle

Ever seen the movie Groundhog Day? Well, for those of you who have not, the man in the movie keeps living the same day over and over again. To say the least, I think we all feel the same way sometimes. The monotony of life can get overwhelming, having us wishing for an inkling of change. Sorry I can’t make the change happen but I have been finding myself thinking of ways to make the week run a little smoother. Recently I had a conversation with one of my besties regarding this and she summed it up perfectly, you have to be ORGANIZED!

Whether you have kids, or are just a kid yourself, organization is an absolute must for a clutter free life both mentally and physically. I truly believe this, now the execution of it in my world…not so much. So with one foot in front of the other, taking it one day at a time, I vow to “try” to implement some of the tips listed below. You can steal mine if you wish or make your own…I will let you know next week how it really went down! Have a great week.

Me, Myself and I

In light of the recent events with the “postal” flight attendant, you know the one who curses out the airline passenger over the intercom, proceeds to crack open a brew and then brazenly lets out the escape chute and takes a slide, it seems more people than not are quietly longing for their own Steven Slater moment.

We’ve all had that split second reaction when we just wanted to scream at the kids, the dog, or whoever was in wrath’s path but just couldn’t because it wasn’t the right thing to do. These moments come all to frequently for me ( I’m just keeping it “real”) but I have become the master at escaping from reality and mentally fleeing to the “Me, Myself, and I” spot in a New York minute.

“Me, Myself and I” spot? Glad you asked, in this space I control my emotions, and loud outbursts and cursing are not allowed! Being here allows me to edit my thoughts and strategically plan out my next move or spoken words. It seems as though when we lash out at others we are allowing them to secretly control parts of our being and that is not cool. Combating someone else’s foolishness with a calm head and a if we weren’t in this office, school, house etc. smirk lets them know who truly has the upperhand in the situation.

Having a mental and a physical “Me, Myself and I” place has saved many from a few choice words on more than one occasion. I have often counted down the hours until I can get to my tangible place. That place is a hot shower or bubble bath, where I can pray, think through my frustrations and leave them, reemerging with a clear head and refreshed attitude. I strongly suggest if you don’t have a ” Me, Myself and I” place, find one…it’s fab there!

Do share…where is your place?

Behind the Blog

Some would say you never venture far from home without an American Express card, however in my world the AMEX is replaced with my favorite tube of lipgloss and my daughter’s pacifier, thus the muse behind the blog name. I am a 30 something stay at home mother to two beautiful children…well make that three if you want to include my husband! I have a true love for all luxurious and fashionable items ranging from clothing, to home decor to accessories. Despite my expensive taste and love for fashion, on my best day, I would have dropped off to school, did laundry, taken care of an infant, picked up from school and had dinner on the table by six o’clock clad in my favorite jeans, a t-shirt and a well brushed pony…a long cry from my pre family days!!

Although I am completely devoted to my family, I find it very important to find time to devote to the things that make me happy. Two of my favorite past times include writing and socializing, so I thought to myself what better outlet than a blog. I am sure this blog will become very random at times, I have been known to be quite comical and all over the place so this blog will be a true indication of my likes, and dislikes, thoughts and reactions to things and events that I encounter in my roles as a wife, mother, friend and most importantly being myself
