I’m Organizing…in my head

Before the end of the year we will be moving to a larger home. In the meantime, we are busting at the seams in this one. Initially I thought I would wait until we moved before I would start putting some organizational tactics into use but the more I look around this place there is no better time than the present to get things in order…besides it will make it easier when its time to move.

But I don’t wanna…I’ont even know where to start. There is so much unnecessary stuff in here that I have to start somewhere. I have been watching that new show on Style called The Amandas and they have managed to inspire me somewhat. Inspired me to peruse Pinterest and that’s about it.

So my goal this weekend is to attack one project and purchase the materials one project at a time. That stuff is expensive. As much as I would loooooove to hit up the Container Store on some “oh money ain’t a thang” making it rain in exchange for shelving, bookcases and closet organizers, I can’t even make it sprinkle up in that joint.

Here is my first project to tackle.

Let me say. My magazines are an extension of my family and throwing them out is NOT an option. Not.At.ALL #magazinehoarder

To add insult to injury I’ve challenged myself to find solutions at the goodwill or other discount retailers because I’m not sure what the decor will be like in our new home so I would rather not spend a ton right now. I just need to get the job done and then we’ll replace with the fancy stuff when we move. I’ll show you what I come up with next week.

…but if my dolla, dolla, bills y’all were real discretionary I would be on some of this right here…

Who knows The Goodwill gods may work in my favor and with a little elbow grease I may end up with something spectacular. We’ll see.

Have you started spring cleaning? If so, what have you done?

Mimi’s World

Let me first say, thank you for all of the love on the It’s Time post. The comments were inspiring and let me know that I’m not alone on the pursuit to personal goal attainment and entrepreneurship. I really appreciate it.

NOW….
They say when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Well over here failure is not an option, but completing the tasks on my to do list are. Here’s to a new week and completing everything I set out to do. I figured I would share some of my tasks with you to hold me accountable. I would hate for you all to see what a slacker I can be!!
1. Remember the post here? Well that has been nearly a month ago and sadly I have yet to clean out my car and as life would have it, the inside looks much worse than it did before (I’ll spare you the agony of looking at updated pics). This week, I plan on cleaning it out and having it detailed.
2. The Mr. and I are headed to the mountains for an annual couples retreat the first weekend in November. Being that I am nursing I have to pump a whopping 110 ounces of milk for lil mama before I go. I am a little less than halfway to my goal. I have 59 ounces to go. Here’s to pumping 42 ounces this week :-/
3. Soooo…with the pumping comes the challenge of increasing my liquid intake…no less than 4L of water per day 🙁
4. Finalize production arrangements for the shirts, hopefully have the website up and running by next week
5. Fold ALL of the clothes this week
6. Finish my fall mantle…speaking of, I found this great vase at Ross for the “low low”

$6.99…Can’t beat that!

How was your weekend? Did you come across any awesome and most of all CHEAP finds?!! What do you have planned this week…I’m nosey, I wanna know!!

I Think I’m Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter

The other day I had a fleeting thought about how absolutely fantastic it would be when I get to Walmart and forget what I came for, or pull up at the bank drive thru only to realize I left the check at home, or when my son is talking non stop,or when I am trying to make some sense of the 50 million things running through my mind at any given time, that clad in my skinny jeans with my lipgloss poppin’, I could stop WHEREVER I am (spectators welcomed) and do the Wonder Woman twirl. As I’m twirling my wrist cuffs would emit super powers to magically exonerate each task on my to do list, and even quiet a crying or overly talkative child.

Yeah right. Fast forward to a post by Mama Locs regarding her practice of keeping a pen and paper handy to jot down the things she has to do, and another post by Being Mrs. Jones about what she would like her day to look like, I embarked on a journey to find a journal that could fit in my purse and keep my to do lists and daily plans neat, and in one place. Lo and behold I found this at my local Walmart, on clearance!

How Fitting!!
So now..let’s just hope it serves its purpose, and the pages aren’t torn out by a 4 year old, or I don’t write my name 100 times in different penmanship styles (yes, I still doodle)! Here’s to my new journal, and my first step…next week, on the journey to becoming better organized. Will you join me!!!
Do share your tried and true tips for organization, or will you be joining me in trying to organize the mind and tangible clutter in your home and life?!!

One Step at a Time…

Last Monday’s post regarding my struggle with making my week run smoother, and my need to organize has started to become a reality. Although none of my “try” to do list got completed last week, I did start off this week with a bang. Okay, I won’t lie the bang came with a little help from the Mr., as we took a few hours on Sunday to thoroughly clean and dust the house.

With me delivering the baby via C-section just three months ago, I have only been up and about for the past month, and my house totally needed a deep cleaning. So I was very thankful for his help and now I can implement my new weekly cleaning schedule, that I have yet to come up with. So now that the house is in order, I am totally starting to think about buying a few new fall decor items and fragrances for the house. Did I mention I love fall!

House is clean, I finished all of my laundry, I’m feeling good about it all until I drive through the car pool line to pick up my son, and now I am embarassed at the fact that the line helpers are looking at this as they open the door to let my boy in..MY CAR IS A WRECK!!
My favorite slingbacks and a baby shower invitation from 3 weeks ago *SMH*
Don’t judge me…Bet you can’t find my lipgloss!!
These are all things that I need in the car..I’m just sure there is a better way of storing them

Can you guess what’s on my to do list for the week…Does your car look as bad as mine, and if not what do you do to keep it clean?
