Dreams of Domestication

*Please excuse the dust. For the next week or so I am going to be playing with the layout of the blog a bit. I really want to pay to have it done, but I can’t part with the $$ knowing if I put my mind to it, I can do it myself and save that money for a new pair of shoes..Also if you would be so kind to click the Networked Blogs link to your right..I’ll love you forever. It’s all apart of the journey from blog to brand..Thank you for your support*

NOW…

How was your weekend? Did you catch the VMAs? My weekend was low key nothing special, so I won’t bore you with the deets, but instead will let you in on the new epiphany that I had this weekend.

I’ve decided I want to be a domesticated goddess. Hear me out. See, I was thinking about my mother the other day and I came upon fond memories of  her baking, trying recipes, and crafting when I was my son’s age. The house always smelled of food. Her dedication to the home brings me warm and fuzzy feelings of her.

It hit me. I want my children to have those same memories of me and the home that I provided for them. While I’ll never be my mother, with fall and winter the coziest seasons upon us I’ve decided to give crafting and baking a try…for my kids sake. Don’t laugh.

I may hang out and wear stilettos and skinny jeans but I want my kids to say I provided not just a house but a home for them in a somewhat “traditional” sense of the word. You’ll see the Domestic Goddess emerge, mess up and succeed on this journey. However, most importantly my son will no longer have to remind me that his grandma used to make cookies with him because he’ll be making them and memories with his own mother.

Now….which apron do I choose.

I bake and craft! I didn’t realize until you asked though, I don’t follow any blogs about it! I should probably remedy that, since I skip over 75% of what’s in my reader anyway! I like the 1st apron better, but hobby lobby has super cute apron kits!

Great minds think alike! I was just thinking the other day that I need to be a little more “domestic” and work harder toward making our home a little more homey.

I love to bake – yeast rolls, muffins, quick breads, etc. I get a lot of my inspiration from foodgawker.com

I also make jewelry – simple bracelets and earrings – when the mood strikes.

That first apron is too cute!

I love doing all things creative. From cooking, crafting, making jewelry, decorating…….I check out a few blogs but not sure of names because have them as faves on computer. It’s really hard dishing out that money for blog designs. I like change so much I feel it won’t be worth it. Can’t wait.to see what you come up with.

I love baking and doing crafts but in the past, my schedule has sort of preventing me from doing those things as much as I would have liked to. Now, I have more time and I’ve been cooking up a storm.. trying all types of recipes. LOL.

I like both aprons. Get both.. 🙂

I have a 1000 or so blogs ( kind of) that I use for inspiration but my fav. right now is I Heart Organizing ( for organizing inspiration) and Prudent Baby ( for crafts)— they both rock so I hope you enjoy!

Yay!! Welcome to the world of crafters! I would recommend sites like Martha Stewart, Family Circle and a blog called The Green Submarine. They all have pretty simple crafts that anyone can make and have step by step directions with pics. Looking forward to your posts.

-Btw I like apron number one. It’s so fashion chic!

Love the first apron. Way too cute. I’m not a crafter or a baker but I do have fun with the cooking.

I bake mostly, no real crafts–yet. Trying to get myself into sewing, but it’s hard to do when my little 2yo helper.

I like the 1st one better, looks very cute.
