MANICure Monday is going on hiatus for a few weeks until I can fully get my bearings around here. I am still unpacking boxes and doing my nails right now makes no sense. Efie may want to hold things down until my return. I’ll check with her and let you know next week.
How was your weekend?
Nothing to call home about over here. The county was to host their annual Jamboree to kick off the football season but the weather didn’t cooperate so instead we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, watched some movies and just kicked it around the house.
Early Saturday evening the baby and I headed out to do some accessories and paint shopping for the laundry room.
Lawd. WHY does picking paint colors have to be so stressful. The truth of the matter is if it doesn’t work, there is nothing that a few coats of primer and a new color can’t fix but when you are there it is like you are making a life or death decision. I took a look around the paint counter and on every side someone was standing there with the same look on their face, like if I pick the wrong color this could be the end of things. *sigh*
After asking a poor lady who was sitting on the paint swatch display looking vexed her opinion on the middle color pairings I decided on something of the sort for the laundry room. One for the cabinets and the other for the wall..
I dare someone to ask me if I left the store with those paint colors. Who’s scared?!
After spending 1 hour looking at paint samples I decided I needed some additional time and instead left with white paint to start on the trim and possibly the doors. I know. I know. Maybe next Saturday I will be able to pull the trigger.
After leaving Lowe’s somewhat satisfied that I came there for half of the things on my list I bumped around to a few other stores in search of a rug with no luck. Ended up at Target where I did my dry goods grocery shopping. I always figured their pricing was a lot more than the regular store but really most of the things were cheaper.
Sunday, I finished up my grocery shopping and unpacked a few boxes and did hair. Hair is like an all day thing on Sundays. I am new to this doing hair on Sundays gig. When she wasn’t in school I didn’t bother but I really don’t have time to rush in the mornings so I would rather take the few hours on Sundays and not bother with it for the rest of the week.
I fried some chicken and kicked it for the rest of the evening.
How was your weekend? Are your babies just heading back to school? If your babies have been back to school how is your routine going? Can you believe it’s almost September?!!!

August 19, 2013 at 9:20 amWell I stayed in the entire weekend cause let’s face it, the weather sucked! As for picking paint, I highly suggest buying a sample first especially if painting a room without windows. I had the worst experience with that, we chose a light greenish slate for our powder room and it ended up looking deep, dark grey on the walls…not what I was going for. Now on to this couple of hours on Sunday to do hair statement…that’s how long it takes????? I would have zero patience and that poor girl would probably be going to school everyday with a puff and headband lol.

August 19, 2013 at 3:31 pmWe had a scrimmage on Saturday in the rain….and they played from 1 to 5….did I mention we were in the rain. The hubs is trying to make me keep him in football but I am ready to pull him out. Sunday I did hair also I can’t braid so I have to get up in the mornings to do hair but it doesn’t take me as long since I straighten it out. I don’t do paints I let the hubs pick that stuff out decorating is not my thing and never will be good luck choosing colors.

August 19, 2013 at 10:41 pmThat’s just way too much hair.
I completely understand about the paint colors. When we were moving in here, I had all of these swatches and samples. And I’ve done nothing with any of them. I don’t know why paint scares me. SMH
My weekend was pretty quite. Ended with a bang.So i guess the quiet before the storm?

August 20, 2013 at 5:48 amI know the feeling when picking out paint colors. It usually takes me hours, and several trips to Homedepot.

August 20, 2013 at 12:06 pmHmm, now I m thinking to myself that we should have thought out the paint colors. Honestly, we say that we want to paint the room, and we at who turn is to pick it, and then we let them pick (usually the same day if we want to change the color of the room). Personally, I like colors in the blue/purple family and Mr. C likes colors in the red family. I guess anything other than while is good for us. Hahahaha

August 23, 2013 at 12:43 amSunday and Wednesday are going to be our hair days. Moo is such a rough sleeper that her bonnet always comes off so we have to do hair twice a week around these parts. I don’t mind though because she’s getting used to it and things move along smoother. Pre-K doesn’t start until after Labor Day, but we still have to wait for her screening appointment to see if she tests out of Pre-K or not before they will assign her a school.
I think it’s just nuts that a child can be deemed too smart of Pre-K and penalized for it by having to stay out until their kindergarten year. I wish we still lived in our neighborhood where her private school was but we’re 45 minutes on the other side of town (and that’s with light traffic). Oh trials of parenting and education. Sigh.

August 26, 2013 at 4:44 pmHair, Hair & HAIR! Story of my life in my house! LOL
I do Karrington’s hair the night before & tie that head up.
In the mornings I add her hair bows.
I braid it & put beads on it sometimes.
But it only lasts 3 days!
