Imagine, a flock of beautiful birds flying in sync making beautiful formations in the sky while people stop and stare in amazement, when out of nowhere a pigeon tries to join in. Uh no…talk about confusion!!
This visual came to mind the other day while I was attempting to rationalize where the saying birds of feather flock together came from after a very productive conversation with one of my very good friends. I reached out for her opinion on a situation I was dealing with. As usual, she kept it truthful and honest with me even if it was what I didn’t want to hear but would ultimately serve in my best interest (that’s a sign of great friend, in case you didn’t know).
It is so important that we remain selective about who we let in our circles. People add as well as subtract from our greatness. Who needs the negativity and foolishness. Cherish the great people in your life and make a concentrated effort to remove those who only take but never give. How can you soar when you are trying to fight off those that aren’t in sync with you and where you are trying to go. Who has time to compete with others for your appointed position in life, flying should be effortless, and those who try to get in the way should be grounded!!

When it comes to friendships QUALITY always trumps quantity.

September 1, 2010 at 10:16 amAbsolutely. I find it an interesting challenge to add new people. People's roles change in my life as we grow and mature. Some will always be friends, but we just aren't quite headed in the same direction. I've come across a few people (some new and some old), and I think we could be mutually beneficial. It can be tricky adding a new friend as a grown up…I could just go old school!
Will you be my friend?
Circle one: Yes No
