Really and truly as I watch children these days I feel a sense of sadness that they don’t know what its like to play outside and not want to come in until you were trying to beat the streetlights. Not knowing the joy of running in the house breathless asking for a jar to store fireflies in just seems wrong.
As parents we can turn things around and give our children those childhoods filled with outside play and teamwork. I love this new campaign “Play Like a Girl” that encourages us as parents to implement not only fun but health and exercise back into the lives of our children.
Here are a few statistics supporting why we need to #bringbackplay
Today, more than 12.5 million American girls are overweight or obese. Millions more are physically inactive and missing out on sports which have been shown to contribute to higher test scores, less risky behaviors, increased likelihood of college attendance, higher earnings potential and reduced risk of chronic disease.
