Bye Dirty Grout + My Lofty DIY Laundry Room To Do List

For someone who loves a good Rehab Addict marathon, and gets anxious about trying DIY projects I have had a hard time seeing past that nasty grout in the laundry room. DIS.GUSTING.

I’m thinking did the people who lived here previously ever mop the floor. I’ve scrubbed, I’ve probably tried every clean grout solution I could find on Pinterest to later come to the conclusion that  below the filth  the actual grout color was dark to begin with.

Ugh.

Laundry Room Makeover

In an identical wrath of fury, as demonstrated previously regarding the burgundy wall in the kitchen.  Friday evening I set about getting this grout together.  On one of the many posts I have written complaining about the grout a few folks reached out to me and suggested I try something called Grout Renew that I had also seen on Young House Love. $11? Sign me up.

It worked. IT WORKED!!!!!

However, let me not let my overwhelming joy leave you in the dark. The process is long and tedious. See that toothbrush peeking out at the bottom. Yep, that is how you have to apply it to the grout and then meticulously follow behind with a wet cloth to remove the excess from the tile. It’ll be a minute before I finish but my goal is a few squares a day.

Per the bottle I was supposed to scrub the floor really good with some special cleaner that I purchased. After reading other reviews I decided the $12 I spent on that would be better placed somewhere else so I just swept and mopped the floor really good before starting.

So now that I am back on the ball of getting these little projects done around here, I thought I would do a little list like others I’ve seen around the blogosphere. Every time I COMPLETE a task I’ll cross it off. Somebody keep me motivated.

Finish renewing the grout

Hang art and drying rack on the wall

Clean out and paint both closets

Organize cleaned and painted closets

Clean out and organize cabinet under the sink

Deep clean and dust the baseboards

Touch up wall color and trim paint

Paint over Addison’s artwork on my cabinet drawer

Put drawer pulls on

Put flowers on sink

DIY or purchase a blind for the window

Attach wallpaper to open shelving

I just released the longest sigh ever but the journey of a thousand steps started with just one………..is that how it goes?

I’ll update you on each item on this list once it is complete with a little sneak peek and hopefully before Christmas I’ll do a full reveal.

Has anyone seen that new show on HGTV called Fixer Upper? Loooooove that show. Maybe if I was doing less watching and more doing….nevermind.

What home improvement projects are you working on? Please feel free to send your well wishes in the comment section, I need them.

I’m a Sprint Mom + HTC One Max Smartphone Giveaway

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.”

Hey there!

Hope your weekend was well. Mine was eventful but that is another post for another day. Today I am proud to announce that for the next 10 months I will be participating in the Sprint Ambassador program and will be bringing you  the scoop on Sprint devices and services.

For the past two years I have been a devout iPhone girl, and was leery of making the switch so I am looking forward to trying out new devices and sharing my true feelings and thoughts  with all of you who are just as scared as I am of trying something new. I have been a Sprint customer since 1999. I’ve never stepped out or cheated. I’ve been down since Sprint PCS days and I don’t ever think I’ll change my service provider. I love Sprint for a number of reasons one being the affordable plans and my unlimited data. If you saw how much data I used in a month. Ridiculous.

framily plan

While we were in Miami a few weeks ago my husband dropped and broke his phone and before we could sit down for dinner we found ourselves in a Sprint store. After a few questions we ended up placing my husband, stepdaughter and a few other family members on the framily plan. I am out of the “framily” circle because I have need of unlimited data while the rest of them use minimal data making this plan a great option for them. Now there is an option that allows unlimited data for an additional $20 month, I will likely be welcomed into the framily soon!

Our phone bill was nearly $200 and with the switch we are saving nearly $70 a month by switching. Here are a few of the standout details regarding the framily plan

  • Up to 10 friends, family, neighbors, employees, or just about anyone can join a Framily
  • The bigger the Framily, the bigger the savings
  • Separate bills, no annual service
  • Unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data each, while on the Sprint network
  • contracts, no early termination fees

For a limited time, new customers who bring their number to Sprint and sign up for a Sprint Framily Plan can receive up to $300 in credit  for their current phone and a Visa® Prepaid Card worth up to $350 to cover switching fees. This offer is available exclusively at Sprint stores and online at Sprint.com from April 4 – May 8.

What better way to enjoy the framily plan than with a new phone! I’m giving away an HTC One Max Smartphone

The HTC One Max smartphone offers users a massive screen with a 5.9 inch display and amped speakers for watching videos or viewing pictures on the go.  The feature rich camera offers users the ability to take photos with a fun, artisitic flair, and gives users news recommendations based on likes on social media, for breaking news that matters most to them.

Mary Mac’s Tea Room + {OOTD}

I have sufficiently informed y’all that I intend to spend the remainder of this year chilling with the homies every chance I get. I’ve had enough of “making” myself too busy to spend time with the people I love. I am at my best laughing , eating and having a cocktail or three with the people who know, get and support me. I’m telling you it’s good for the soul and I implore you to make a few adjustments in your life to make room for these special moments. Life is short.

I digress.

Tuesday morning one  of my best friends called  and asked if I wanted to grab something to eat. Two short hours later we were sitting at Mary Mac’s Tea Room,  a renowned restaurant here in Atlanta. While I’m not a true born ATLien I’ve been here long enough to be quite shamed that I had never been to this iconic restaurant. I found the food to be delicious. You know it can be hit or miss with southern/soul food. Mary Mac’s Tea Room was a hit indeed.

Since we only had a short time we quickly put our orders in, not an easy task. I settled on the highly recommended fried chicken and added sweet potato souffle and macaroni as my sides.

So. D&*n. Good.

I’m not a big eater but if it’s good and in front of me…come on now.

Children Parenting

Take Me Out to the Ball Game….Like Every Day

When we have children, maybe I’ll speak for myself.

When I had children I just couldn’t wait for them to get of age to get involved in extracurricular activities. Piano lessons, sports, dance lessons etc. I wanted my children to be just as involved and well rounded as I was growing up.  I surely wasn’t thinking about  the logistics required to have two children involved in multiple activities. Every day of the week we are gone and don’t mention the weekends. Saturdays start early and end late.

The baby is taking her first foray into sports and is playing Tee Ball this year. Talk about something hilarious. Either everyone is running for the ball, including members of the batting team or my child is pointing at the ball as it rolls by. Baseball

Moments in the dug out are spend socializing, not at all paying attention to the game.

I will say she will get out there and give that ball a real whack….with her Hello Kitty bat that I had to go to 3 Targets to find. Anything for my baby. She’ll run as well, maybe not to the correct base but those little legs move.

IMG_1112

I am a fan of children playing sports because it teaches them sportsmanship. She has to learn that every time won’t be her turn. Remember those days of being impatient because you wanted it to be your turn. She’s on that. She earned this trait honestly. I won’t tell you how many times my Mama got me together on the field because I was being a poor sport.

IMG_1109

As tired and ragged as I feel I wouldn’t have it any other way. I read somewhere the other day that we may complain now about how many activities our children have, or how messy they are or about the 238,038,581 questions they may ask in a day but the truth is one day they will grow up and we will look back on these moments and long for them.

I guess.

Where my sports Moms at? Do you have snacks packed in your purse to nibble on? Do you talk to the other Moms? Are you the Team Mom?
