Living Random

I’m Just Livin’

Life around here has been quite uneventful *knocks on wood*

A great deal of my time has been spent working on some personal projects and schlepping my kids to their activities. I’m low key stressed at the fact that school will be out in a little over a month. I can’t even fathom the fact that this school year is already over, and I need to get serious about planning our Summertime activities. Can’t even.

I’ll do a house update sometime this week. There is so much that needs to be done around here that I need to take the time to write it all down and create a plan of attack….kind of like they do on Young House Love. The kitchen is improperly painted, the baby drew on my newly painted cabinets with a pink Sharpie…you know those little things that will drive you batty if you let them. I’m going to create a to do list, post it here and require y’all to hold me accountable.

I’d been moaning and groaning about wanting a rocking chair to put on the front porch but was too cheap to buy one. Finally found one in my price range. Placed it on the porch and now it just looks empty. Headed to Hobby Lobby the other day to get materials to make a wreath. Must’ve walked circles around that store for nearly 2 hours and ended up leaving with a large S. That’s all, not even a candy bar. Please don’t ask me what I am going to do with this S, I imagine at some point it will become a monogram wreath. I’ll keep you posted.

Apparently the front porch needs more than a rocking chair.

Outside of obsessing over what to do with a large S, and a Sharpie emblazoned cabinet I’m really feeling this whole gardening thing. Who knew? My babies are growing well and when I find time this week I am going to finally put them in their permanent homes. It’s going to be like container heaven. I’m taking the deck over instead of raised beds. I just want to make sure the area where I want to put them will get enough sun.

Peter Som for Kohl’s Must Have Staples + $100 Giveaway

* I have been provided compensation to facilitate this post via the Kohl’s Ambassador Campaign. All opinions are mine. You already know!!*

Sadly this is my last post for the  Kohl’s /Peter Som ambassador campaign. I hope you’ve enjoyed my outfit pictures and gotten a good idea of the amazing fashion at affordable pricing that Kohl’s has to offer.

This week I picked up two last items and while I could’ve gone crazy I stuck with the basics. Basics should never be underestimated, as they are the blank canvas that gives our accessories and statement pieces the arena to shine.

I couldn’t leave without picking up the white Moto jacket. It is everything on. I’ll admit on the hanger I wasn’t impressed but I’m sure glad I tried it on. The fabric is perfect to cover your arms at the movies or for a walk on the beach at night. I thought it had a lot of potential and I’ve dressed it three different ways.

With the whole talk that it is okay to wear white year round, while not totally on board with this new fashion rule in the event I feel the need to run full speed to catch that train this jacket is my ticket.

I think the gold accents on the jacket are just enough to subtlety add a  little bling for people like me who like to keep it classic and simple.

Skincare

Silk’n FaceFx

* I was provided product  and/or compensation to facilitate this post. All opinions are mine. You already know!!*

Beauty product blogging is not my strong point.  I love perusing the aisles of Target, Sephora, Ulta etc. like most women but I’m not a product junkie. Unless something that I’ve been using no longer works or a product comes with a strong suggestion I won’t buy it….but I sure will spend hours looking!

I was sent a Silk’n FaceFx product to review and initially I wasn’t really sure what the product was about so I read up on it and decided I would give it a try. While it is slated to reduce the signs of aging and wrinkles, I wasn’t so concerned with those claims but when it said reduces the size of large pores…why yes, sign.me.up.

Silk'n FaceFX

The product comes with a base and an adapter that allow for easy and quick charging.

Silk'n FaceFX

The top of the unit has tiny circles where the warm, gentle heat is administered through. About two swipes over my entire face is all I do.

Silk'n FaceFx

So here’s the real deal. I started to utilize the product while Jack Frost was consistently present so my face was extra dry. Prior to using the Silk’n FaceFx I would slather coconut oil on and then use. WRONG.

After a few days I noticed that my skin was starting to peel, like a sunburn. It finally dawned on me that I was probably frying my face with the coconut oil and the thermal heating from the product. I stopped for a few weeks to give my skin time to heal and because I like to live on the wild side once my skin was back to normal I decided to give it another try  moisturizing my face AFTER using the Silk’n.

What a difference.

I don’t use the product daily, I only use twice a week and I have noticed a huge improvement with the texture of my skin and the size of my pores.  I’m not telling you to run out and buy this product if you are not on the hunt for something of the sort, but if you are this is a viable contender. Visit the Silk’n website to gather more information and read the reviews.

A Few of the Benefits:

  • Diminishes the appearance of wrinkles
  • Improves skin texture
  • Brightens skin color
  • Reduces pore size
  • Professional results at home
  • Long-term anti-aging solution

The product has garnered positive reviews, but I would encourage you to do your own research before purchasing as I can only speak for my skin type.

Do you use any type of facial product outside of cleaners and moisturizers?

Forced Technology | Where is the Drive-Thru Teller?!

This is a Rant.

This morning, after getting the children off to school I find my way to the bank for my first errand of the day. I saw this, and it stopped me dead in my tracks…..

Ummm….where is the teller?

I have so many issues with this. Like most of you, I can’t vividly recall the last time I pulled up to the teller to handle my transactions…okay it was last week at the Credit Union. My point is while I don’t use the drive thru teller often I enjoy having the option. Multiple transactions or the desire to not have my money spit back at me multiple times because the automatic feeder didn’t accept it sits aloft  on my list of reasons to forgo the ATM and utilize the teller.

Let’s take convenience out of the picture. What about the disabled  or Sweet Mama who likes her independence but would prefer not to go in the bank due to her bad knees and makes her weekly trek to the bank to deposit her check via the drive thru.

What about the person that can’t really read but knows enough to sign their name and slide their ID along with their check into the vacuum and send it on its way where the sometimes friendly teller awaits on the other end to do the majority of the work.

Maybe I’m reading to much into it, but to me it is just a show that personal interaction will eventually be non existent in exchange for positive bottom lines and more efficient business practices that only benefit corporate while the rest of us are left in long lines behind the car of the person trying to figure all of this out, or waiting for a parking space at a banking center that already doesn’t have adequate parking because Sweet Mama now needs to take her precious time going in the bank.

I don’t know. I’m “Ranting and Rambling” at this point. What are your thoughts? Is forcing technology a good thing?
