I needed to take one thing off my plate, so I decided to make that one thing cleaning the kitchen in the evening. I’ve recently introduced my daughter to wiping the counters and sweeping the floor while my son is in charge of the dishes. She is so proud of her duties which lets me know that children will learn to love cleaning if you introduce them early. She really takes pride in her new job and does it without me having to ask. I wonder how long that will last!
Tip: To get a blur denoting motion in a shot slow your shutter speed down and focus on something in the background that is stationary to really get a contrast of the movement against the still item.
Thanks for linking up last week! Be sure to go visit Lashawn to see what is in motion in her life! See you next week for “Eyes.”

February 5, 2015 at 8:40 amLove this! My kids loved helping out when they were little. My mother-in-law bought them handheld vacuum cleaners, their own buckets, etc. She really got them into it! And they were happy.

February 5, 2015 at 10:37 amI really need to give my six year old a daily chore. He has moments where he likes to clean, but he also has days where he doesn’t want to help at all. I think it would help if he had one consistent chore vs. something random wherever I need help.

February 24, 2015 at 10:54 pmI’m telling you with those consistent chores it takes a minute for them to do it like you want but when they get it, it takes one thing off your plate.

February 5, 2015 at 3:43 pmI haven’t had my daughter help with kitchen cleaning yet. Unless unloading the dishwasher counts. I’m still working on getting them to pick up after themselves.

February 5, 2015 at 9:31 pmThat is so true. They will like it as a group activity. Noah goes and get any wet wipe he can find to clean. He starts with his toys lol. Right now he likes to help me unload the dishwasher and hold the dustpan. I hope he keeps it up well into his later years.

February 24, 2015 at 10:55 pmAddison loves wet wipes. That chick will use a whole container if you let her. I think its wishful thinking to think the love of cleaning will extend into the teenage years.

February 8, 2015 at 3:32 pmLook at your baby girl. What a great shot. Zoe helps with sweeping now. Lets just consider that a wide interpretation of help but she tries. She is also responsible for cleaning up her toys and putting her clothes in the hamper. Oh and bringing items to the trash and cleaning up her dishes. OMG, I’m a militant. LOL. But the earlier the better.

February 23, 2015 at 11:46 amI’ve introduced chores to my children last summer when I just couldnt handle chores, summer school, teaching, & working full time. Trying to do all left me too tired, cranky, and overwhelmed to enjoy my days. They loved it. I was shocked — especially when it came to my son. Lol! They do such a wonderful job, I just wish I would have started this sooner.
