Remember a few weeks ago when I blogged about finally going to get some good foundation. Well quietly that was the start of a very miniscule but growing love for makeup. I’ve always admired a person who was able to “beat” their face for the pure enjoyment of heading to the grocery store while I stroll around with uneven skin tone and thin lopsided eyebrows. Well thanks to YouTube and some beauty blog perusing I am trying to get better at perfecting my five minute face. I’m no where near there but I have been picking up an eyeshadow here, a blush there.
As a teenager I had awful acne prone skin that I constantly picked in. Who knew then that hindsight would be 20/20 and my dear Mama was right that my reluctance to “stay out of my face” would leave me with dark, crater like things on my face. I figured my fix for this would be to get a foundation primer…one day. Then the heavens opened up, or my mailbox depending on how you want to look at it and Revlon sent me two wonderful products to try out.
Some were sent lipstick and nail polish, however I only received makeup primerr and eye shadow.
Watch the video for my attempt at a five minute face. I don’t agree with using makeup to hide our beauty but rather enhance it, the point that Revlon is trying to push with their expression experiment.
Initially I was like what is this peach colored primer going to do for my skin *insert side eye* I put it on anyway and as you saw it blended it really well setting a good even slate for me to build my foundation coverage on. I was even skeptical about the yellow shadow and rightfully so. I think it did okay on my skin color but I wouldn’t purchase those choice of colors if it was up to me. Despite the color choice the product worked well for its price point which I contribute to the primer.

September 13, 2012 at 9:04 pmI’m still a novice at wearing makeup, but have taken an interest in it this year. I definitely go for a more subtle/neutral look when I wear eye shadow. I’m still afraid of color!!!

September 14, 2012 at 8:56 amI started playing in make up more and more since last year. I had an artist do my makeup in MAC a few years ago and been using their foundation since! YouTube got me back to it Beauty by Lee is really good and teaches to make it simple

September 15, 2012 at 6:05 pmMakeup? Not even in my vocabulary. I never learned to apply it, never had the urge as a teenager, and here I am at almost 30 years old and I’ve worn foundation/powder maybe twice in my life (wedding and prom)! Boorrrring!
I DO wear a little eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss every day, but probably need to consider branching out. I won’t have 20s-looking skin all my life!
