Saturday, September 19, my family and I will be attending US Weekly’s Family Movie Night at the Avalon in Alpharetta, GA. Now that the weather is getting cooler in the evenings, I’m sure we will have a great time as a family enjoying a fun evening outdoors watching a family movie on the lawn. This fun, family event is also open to the public and we would love to see you there!
Since we won’t be in a traditional movie setting I’ll be bringing snacks and drinks for the children to enjoy during the movie. I think I’ll grab a pizza or sub sandwiches and we’ll have our dinner out there. Bringing popcorn is pretty much a given when it comes to movie watching.
I don’t normally purchase microwave popcorn but I did purchase Orville Redenbacher’s Theater Butter Popcorn. It popped up quickly and there wasn’t a ton of leftover kernels at the bottom of the bag. The popcorn was light and fluffy and there was just enough butter. My children enjoy popcorn and only get it when they go to the movies for the most part, so they are looking forward to this weekend’s trip to the Avalon.
We’ll have our dinner, popcorn, blankets and light jackets in tow for a wonderful evening of movie watching at the Avalon. Hope to see you there!

Nobody told me that having to get two children ready for school at the crack of dawn would be such a task. Last year they went at different times so it was a little easier. Now I don’t have the liberty to lay around and hit the snooze button, I have to hit the ground running. My mother never sent me to school without breakfast and that trait has stuck with me. As I slowly start weaning the house off of sugar….that is another post for another day, I’m trying to find better breakfast alternatives to cereal.
Enter my idea for heat and eat breakfast options. I knew you could bake eggs so I tried this recipe with the children’s help and they love them in the morning. Likened to a McDonald’s egg Mcmuffin these egg muffin breakfast sandwiches probably have about 3,972 less ingredients and are pretty yummy.
Literally these are the only ingredients you will need. There is room for creativity, whatever you like in your eggs feel free to add them in. Onions, bell peppers whatever you like.
We made these on a Saturday afternoon…..cause I’m trying to reduce screen time around here. Y’all know my little helper is never far off
Before putting the eggs in the tin you want to make sure to beat them a little. Don’t add in your additional ingredients until you pour your beaten eggs into the buttered muffin tins.
I let the eggs bake for about 25 minutes. Just make sure to check to make sure they are done. Once they were done, I removed them from the tin and let them cool a little more before packing them up to go in the freezer.
At this point you make the sandwich. Add cheese on this step if you like, or add later when you reheat. After you’ve made the muffin, tightly wrap in aluminum foil and place in a large freezer bag for storage. If you made different kinds, be sure to label them. The “S” on mine is for spinach.
Now….I tried to reheat these in the microwave and the oven. Loved the oven reheat better but it took about 30 minutes to heat throughout. What I do now is put them in the refrigerator at night to help thaw a little and stick them in the oven at 5:30 when I get up and they are ready when the children get up. If you don’t have that amount of time, the microwave works but just not as well…in my opinion.
Once heated add jelly or other toppings if you like and enjoy!

If making for a week use 5 eggs and 5 split english muffins. The amount of days you are preparing them for determines the amount of eggs and ingredients you will need.
Ingredients
6 eggs
6 whole wheat split english muffins (use what works best for you)
Butter
Egg Fixings (spinach, onions, bell peppers etc.)
Salt and Pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425. While oven is heating butter your muffin tin. Can use an alternate to butter but I like butter!
Crack all eggs into a bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Lightly beat eggs ( add a little water if you like)
Add beaten eggs to buttered muffin tins and add additional toppings if you like. Fill muffin tin only halfway. They rise a little as they cook
I’ve been getting questions on whether or not I plan to bring our weekend vlog series back and the answer is yes. I’m changing everything over on my YT channel now and either this weekend coming or the next I will start to incorporate our weekend vlog series back into the mix. I will say while I’m bringing the series back there will not be a vlog every weekend, but I will try for at least twice a month!
In the meantime, the past few weekends have been pretty normal. Every Friday, if the children have performed well in school I allow them a treat. Trips to Rita’s have been a regular.
My wardrobe is in dire need of a makeover. Went shopping for a few new things for Fall, she was not the hanging partner at all. She even asked for a stroller, I reminded her she spent a whole lot of time trying to get out of the stroller and now she wants to get in. That’s a life lesson for her, enjoy your seasons whether you like them or not. Sooner or late you just may long for them again. Sidenote: Anybody else have a plethora of half full water bottles in their car?
Mr. and I slid out for a grown folks birthday party.
Mr. and I took in a Friday lunch date while the children were in school
Soccer season is in full swing. First game was this weekend and my son’s first baseball game is this Tuesday.
Attended the One Music Fest and had the best time. It was an all day event, we got there around 4. I am a huge fan of hip hop and “ratchet” music if you will. We got to see Wu Tang, Bun B, Scarface, Janelle Monae and we closed out the night with Lauryn Hill. I know in the past Lauryn has gotten a wrap of being SHADY on her performances. I am blessed we didn’t get some of the shenanigans that I’ve heard about it. She was about 30 minutes late, the sound was off for a minute, she kept signaling the sound people and some of her hits were done to a reggae beat. In her defense though, I’ve heard that she is having some issues with the record label and doesn’t have rights to some of her music which is why they can’t be performed as she recorded them. I understand if that’s the case but I’m still a little salty that we couldn’t get Ex-Factor the way God created it. This was our first time going to the annual festival, and if the lineup is great next year we will be there again. The music, crowd and weather was great.
Wrapped up the weekend with a baby shower for one of my favorites! I still can’t believe Kelli is having a baby!
How was your weekend? Seen Lauryn Hill in concert before? Who is ready for crisp fall weekends, we got a taste this weekend and I can’t wait!
Fall, glorious fall is on the horizon. I am currently pulling out my décor from last year and mixing those pieces in with new things. Although the official first day of fall isn’t for a few more weeks, I am slowly putting things in place in hopes that on the 23rd, the official first day of autumn I can reveal my fall home tour post. On a recent trip to Walmart I picked up a few items including a few new candles from the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® collection.
Fall and winter are two seasons where I am a little weird about making sure my house is cozy, and for me that includes the way it smells. Keeping in mind that some people have allergies etc. I try to keep the fragrances I choose light and seasonal. I decided to go with the Fresh Apple, Sunny Sands, and Fall Harvest candles. I found these items at the very front of the store as well as on the home and candle aisle.
There were a variety of cost friendly price options for the candles with the highest price coming in at $14.93 for the 19 oz Large round and apothecary jar options. The 12 oz candles also come in round and apothecary jar options priced at $10.93. The 4oz. tumbler candles, 2.6oz fragrance beads and 1.75 oz votive candles are priced $4.93, $3.43 and $1.43 respectively. For a listing of the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® collection visit here.
These candles are constructed of premium grade paraffin wax and contain lead free wicks for a clean, healthy burn. Also be mindful of children when placing candles. Be sure to keep them out of the reach of children and animals.
To keep with the color theme of the kitchen I used a little painters tape and paint to decorate the Fresh Apple candle for the kitchen.
I have tried to refrain from lighting them until the official first day of fall because I’m a little awkward like that. These American Home™ by Yankee Candle® collection are not just getting my house smelling right for the season but are serving as decor as well.
Have you gotten a jump on your fall décor? What are some of our favorite fragrances of the season?
