Boys Fall Style with Osh Kosh Bgosh

I participated in a Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’Gosh. I received an OshKosh B’Gosh gift card to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.” “

If you are a boy mom you fully understand the struggle that is finding affordable and fashionable clothing for boys. My son is so hard on clothes, as a result I have no issue paying good money for high quality clothing because I will just find myself purchasing the same things over and over and over and……

I am always on the lookout for affordable, high quality clothing that will withstand the playground, and one of my go to brands is Osh Kosh Bgosh. My son is in a size 12 currently and they have a great selection of fall items that we picked up to add to his fall wardrobe.

Might I add, my selections are no longer sufficient and he has to make his own clothing selections. I’m so not ready for pre-teen years.

For boys and girls, jeans are a must have staple and for years I have purchased Osh Kosh Bgosh jeans because they wash well and the style and fit is great for my son. We picked up quite a few pair of jeans, some in the same colors and we he was able to easily mix and match them with other fall items  making a capsule wardrobe that he was happy to sport to school.

If you are ready to head out shopping here is a coupon for 25% off a purchase of $30 that is good until September 30. Need to find a store near you? Click here.

Now that I have some of his fall wardrobe under control I wish I could get his appetite under control! When he gets home from school it’s like he hasn’t eaten in years. One quick afternoon snack I give them is one my mother used to call “bumps on a log.” My kids enjoy making them and the peanut butter usually holds them over until dinner. They are really simple to make, spread peanut butter on cut up celery stalks and add raisins. Easy peasy.

Knowing that jeans are a staple of every wardrobe, OshKosh B’gosh wants all kids to have what they need for school, from blue jeans to books! That’s the inspiration behind the national launch of the “B’gosh Jeanius Campign”.

  • OshKosh B’gosh, in partnership with K.I.D.S./ Fashion Delivers, Inc., and DonorsChoose.org will give customers the opportunity to donate a new pair of jeans or make a cash donation to a students in need this school year.

Unlikely Martha is Live

First let me say how is it September 1st already. Per my Blogiversary post, I stated  on September 1 I would be changing the name of this blog to better reflect where I am in life right now so Unlikely Martha has been born.  As I mentioned in that post I am very different person from who I was when I started this blog 5 years ago. From hating laundry to rushing to fold warm laundry fresh out of the dryer, from being a disorganized mess at all times to having to consult with my planner before making any decisions,  from whining every day at having to cook dinner to having well thought out meal plans prepared two weeks in advance  I would say my priorities have shifted and I think the name says it all.

Lashawn came by and took a few photos for my new site. What do you think?!

What to expect from this “new” site? Glad you asked, content will be mostly the same but at least once a week…or at least I am going to try to provide a fashion, home and recipe post mixed in with my personal life shares. You will find better photos, more writing and just better thought out and presented content overall. Same Mimi just a different name and a little more polished. All sponsored content I bring here will be well thought out and include brands that I think would be helpful to you or your families because they have been to  mine.

Well, I’m off to volunteer at the book fair at the kids school today. I want to say thank you for those of you that have been here and have supported this blog over the years and give a big hello to those who are new. Change is good, I’m excited to see what’s in store!

Sips & Sews

This post is sponsored by Wayfair. All opinions are my own.

Back to school shopping and getting back in to the routine has been exhausting to say the least. Getting back into a routine has been welcomed but also tiring and has required some adjustments. I’m so glad to finally have things running in order so that I can take the time to get my own schedule in place and have the time to do some things that I like to do.

Wayfair is celebrating moms and the entire process that we go through getting these folks back to school by encouraging us (or the people who loves us) to purchase something that we enjoy or need as a consolation prize for not losing it on somebody in Walmart during the back to school frenzy.

I decided to gift myself with something that I wanted and something that I needed.

Before school got out my son broke the carafe to my coffee machine and while I had my  eye on on a specific brand of coffee maker I just couldn’t part with the coins needed to get one, yet I was spending about $2.30 a day at Dunkin’ Donuts on coffee. I mean do the math on that.

Anyway I decided the first thing I would get for myself would be a coffee maker. I needs my coffee in the morning. NEEDS so this was a necessity. After reading the review I ordered the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew on Wayfair.

It takes K cups and when I get tired of purchasing K cups I can use regular coffee as well as loose tea and place in this basket. Yes, this coffee maker serves double duty.I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks and I absolutely love it.

I had the hardest time picking out the one thing that I wanted. I suppose always putting yourself last when you want or need something takes its toll. After thinking for a few minutes and reading hundreds of reviews on TeachYouToSew advising me what is the best sewing machine brand, I decided I wanted a sewing machine. I didn’t get the top of the line but based on reviews for a compact starter machine  I went with the Sunbeam Large Compact Sewing Machine. I broke that bad boy open and just knew I was going to get to sewing…NOT

For some reason I can’t figure out how to thread the bobbin and needle together…but when I figure that part out, my first project will be fall pillows for the sofas and chairs.

The machine came with this kit, that I’m sure is nothing to an experienced seamstress but is everything to me. I can’t wait to make time to start sewing.

Got my coffee, and my sewing machine. It doesn’t take much to please me these days.

What was your back to school present to yourself?!

{#OurProject52} Patterns

When I hear the word “pattern” I see it as two ways, a design on clothing or decor items, or a way of doing things. This picture I captured on Instagram gave me a little of both. Running a house with two children a husband and working from home has really blurred the lines for me. I feel like I don’t get much separation of anything. In an effort to gain more balance I’ve been taking out the time to get my children in a pattern of cleaning up their rooms daily to give me a break and keep the house organized.

This day, she was charged with vacuuming her room and surprisingly she was happy to do so. This new pattern of pick up after yourself is really helping keep my sanity and budding level of OCD about needing order around here.

Now onto all of the patterns between the curtains and her clothing.  Who doesn’t love a good mixed print!

Photography just like words holds different meanings and perspectives. Use your imagination when shooting, it’s the differing perspectives that make photography the art that it is.

Be sure to head over and see Lashawn’s take on patterns this week!
