Weekend Wrap Up

I am exhausted. This weekend was a whirlwind.

Friday evening my son’s school had their fall festival and I volunteered the trunk of my car for the trunk or treat portion of the festival. Basically I was required to sit in my trunk and hand out candy as children came by.

By the way...does anyone know why Mike and Ike broke up?

Left the fall festival and headed to the grocery store with the Mr. in tow. Always nice to have him tag along on those trips. Came home and went to bed because I had to get up bright and early to help Trina with a fashion show that she was putting on.

The clothes were sponsored by the Gap and were fabulous. Such amazingly cute clothes for kids this season.

Bernetta ripped the runway as the pregger model. Sorry I didn’t grab a photo of her dressed up but her makeup is fierce here.

I even got a chance to walk the runway as well. Here are the babies and I before runway time

Addison decided to have a mini meltdown literally minutes before it was time to go on. Here I am giving her a little pep talk, which translates into promises of purple popsicles.

A little before show prep

The show was a total success. The kids did an awesome job. If you can imagine the amount of work that went into coordinating something with 25 kids and borrowed clothes and shoes…yeah.

Congratulations to Trina for a job well done! Make sure you stop by her blog sometime this week. I’m sure she will have the official photos so you can see all of the cuteness.

Sunday I laid low, cooked some dinner and thoroughly enjoyed my additional hour. Did you?

The pressure was definitely on this week to come up with something different after you ladies showed up last week. I thought and thought and as I was looking through my colors I thought I would finally try ombré. Not the fading kind but a different color on each nail. These are the colors I used:

Last week I ventured out a bit. That was the good part. The bad part is that I only had time to really pull out my tripod once and not to mention one of my all around lenses has been broken so you will have to deal with blurry camera and mirror photos. Sorry *shrugs*

Cirque du Soleil TOTEM

For quite some time I have had a yearning to go and see Cirque du Soleil. The acrobatics, the colors, the action just puts me in the mind set of it being a special circus just for adults. Yearly I pass the huge tent set up beside one of Atlanta’s major highways and I always say to myself we are going to go this year and we never make it.

Well if anyone cares I am extremely happy to announce that the Mr. and I are looking forward to a much needed date night on November 16 to go and see Cirque du Soleil TOTEM and I am stoked! The production will be in Atlanta from October 26- December 30. With shows following in Miami, New York and Philadelphia in 2013.

Looking at a traveling production such as this, I find it hard to imagine how all of the pieces work together. In case you were a little curious like me, here are a few fun tidbits of information to know about Cirque du Soleil and its travels.

Cast and Crew:

• The cast of TOTEM comprises 53 artists from 18 countries

• The crew is composed of 13 employees in the ARTISTIC SUPPORT team, 10 in PUBLIC SERVICES, 15 in TOUR SERVICES and 35 employees in the TECHNICAL department. The employees represent 10 countries

• There are 120 touring employees with 50 official accompanying members (spouses and family). So a total of 170 on the road!

• A total of 23 children are on tour between the ages of 6 months and 17 years old. Currently, the youngest tour member is 6 months and the eldest is 61!

• The tour relies on local suppliers for many essentials such as food, bio-diesel fuel, dry ice, machinery, food & beverages for patrons, banks, delivery services, recycling, and waste management—thereby injecting significant money into the local economy.

• During an engagement in a city, over 150 people are hired in each market for a variety of jobs, including ushers, box office ticket sellers, corporate hospitality hosts, food and beverage attendants. We also employ over 100 local laborers to assist with the site set-up and tear down.

• The school on-site has three full-time teachers and seven student

I’m sure there are good times for the children that get to travel with the show. I think that is pretty awesome.
