She So Random

Hey!!

Yes, I know I was M.I.A. again. Those that follow me on Instagram and Twitter know I was on vacation in Washington D.C. We had a great time sight seeing and enjoying my family. I’ll post some pictures of our adventures next week. Last time I was there was 4 years ago for inauguration…I know, I have to do better about seeing my side of the family. We always go with my husband’s family but there will be a change from now on. It was so refreshing spending time with people who knew my mother and me as a child. I needed that connection.

In other news:

I have decided to open an online boutique and link it to the blog with some of the finds I come across when thrifting. I am not sure if I want to build up inventory or just start putting up pieces as I come across them. I will have all sizes and it is likely that nothing will be above $30 unless it is a high end label…Stay tuned

Divinitee is coming along. At this point I have decided not to rush a summer line but put out a spectacular fall/winter line. That process is in the works. I’m excited.

My son left from DC and went back to Las Vegas with my dad and stepmother…via car. No. 3 days in a car? I’m sooooo good. I wonder if he talked their ears off

I quietly want to move back to D.C. We discussed it and the Mr. isn’t against it but the cost of living…I say the cost of living.

I’m going to get back to doing my weekly thrift vlogs starting tomorrow.

My husband is up for a promotion….pray for him please. This could really set us up and allow us to pursue the things that we have been dreaming of.

My stepdaughter is here for the summer. I love her!!

These kids have taught the baby to say 2 Chainzzzzzz except she says 2 Trainzzzzz….. I’m not sure who’s to blame, my kids or the kids in the neighborhood. I promise it wasn’t me…this time.

Bath and Body Works is having their Semi Annual sale. Am I the only one worked up about cheap Wallflowers, scented oils and 3 wick candles. I am? Oh.

I have been using the pure coconut oil on the baby’s hair like so many people have suggested and it is working!!

I have been having these awful headaches on one side of my head. I’ve been avoiding the doctor but I think its time I go 🙁 My self diagnosis says its either dehydration or blood pressure..but I’ll tell you what the doctor says.

So You Know its Real?

If you’ve traveled the blogosphere you are well versed in the reality that different people blog about different things. Some lead fantastic lives and live in dust free homes, while the rest of us just move the clutter out of the way , choose to see the light at the end of the tunnel even if its only a pinhole, and others are just Debbie Downers

..and that’s fine.

One thing that baffles me is when people get upset or express their disdain for people who don’t *does the quotation thingy with my fingers* keep it real in their tweets, or on their blog.

This is the thing. If you’ve walked this earth long enough you know there isn’t a person alive that hasn’t seen sorrow and trouble as well as triumph and happiness. Not everyone chooses to dwell on those things. Writing and pining over those things does nothing for me. I’ll read yours but I choose not to put my energy into those things other than trying to find a resolution when it comes to my own life.

If a person wants to write about rainbows and unicorns…let them. If you’re so caught up in your realness that you can’t be happy for someone else…don’t read.

What’s real to one person isn’t another person’s reality and the REAL is not everyone lives a sad and awful life, some of us are living and rolling with the punches no matter how hard they hit…I don’t know about y’all but I bobs and weaves in my skinny jeans and wedges…and I don’t care what anyone thinks about it.

Yeah, I have obstacles. I stumble. I trip. I fall dead on my face. You’ll never know. I’ll share what I feel, but it will never be so anyone else knows its real. I know its real.

*slams the piano shut*

fab’rik Vinings…#BloggersandBubbly

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to attend a blogging panel hosted by Mattie and the Atlanta Style Bloggers at fab’rik.

The panel consisted of Cath, Eboni and Cathy, the editors at Asian Cajuns, The Fashionista Next Door and Poor Lil It Girl respectively

The panel discussed some key tips to blogging successfully. Some of the key points were

Take your blog seriously and don’t accept every PR opportunity offered to you. Be selective.
If you want to be taken seriously as a blogger, make sure your blog sets the tone via its appearance
Find ways to freshen up your content. Look for inspiration in your everyday life.

I absolutely loved the decor of the boutique, and the prices were reasonable. If you are in the Atlanta area this is a store worth visiting…I would say tell them I sent you….but

Summertime Natural Hair Struggle

I despise hair. Absolutely nothing about it sparks my interest and seeing that I have an astronomical amount of it is proof that God has a sense of humor.

I have no idea what type of hair I have on that little natural hair chart and I have no interest in figuring it out. I’ve watched videos and they bore me and the styles don’t work for my hair so I’m stuck with what to do with my hair during these hot, humid months ahead. I like my hair straight, but the humidity and pop up showers in the summer would make me a fool for spending an hour a week pressing it so I turned to pinterest for some inspiration on what to do with my hair.

These are two of the styles that I plan on adding to my usual twist out regimen. I’ll let you know how it turns out
