going gray gracefully?

The other day I was in the store and the lady behind me in line jokingly says, ” You know they make dye for that.” I turn around and ask, ” Dye for what?” Her answer? Your hair.

My response? Word. But she couldn’t leave it there, she had to go on about how young I am and why would a pretty lady my age want gray hair.

My response?  It’s mine and I’m fine with it actually, and gave her a look like say one more thing.

My respect for old folks is top notch, which is why she didn’t get it like she should’ve but it led me to think that as people some of us are really all about trying to fight nature.

I mentioned in the post after my new haircut that I am making peace with my gray and am choosing to let nature sprinkle my crown with glitter, those little icicles you put on the christmas tree, platinum strands or whatever you want to call gray hair these days.

I’ve had more than my fair share of opinions on why said “voicer” of opinion could never go gray at this age, as if I asked. I politely listen and stand firm on my belief that I love my hair just as it is, and because it’s on my head I have that right.

At this age my mother was completely gray, and I can’t say that if I was completely gray at this age that I wouldn’t be dying but these little streaks of gray are gradually “salt and peppering” my hair and I’m here for it.

In this era where there is  dye, a pack of hair, eyelashes, brow powder and a plethora of other options to fix those things about us that we aren’t fond of is it that hard to understand a person just wanting to be natural and let nature take its course.

Have we become numb to embracing the inevitable when it comes to our appearances? I’m asking for a friend.

Not me. I don’t even wear foundation and stuff and have been talked about for it. My response is, I have great genes and don’t need it. Let my skin be natural. Like you, I tell people if my hair starts graying I’m gonna let it do what it do. I love getting older.

You’re better than me, my side eye probably would’ve prevented her from even going further with the questioning lol!!!!! 🙂 but I guess I’m kind of on the fence… I think gray looks great but I still kind of freak out when I find one. I love how my moms looks but she despises it. I’m not about dyeing and doing the most when mine starts changing though.

I’ve been struggling with my gray lately. I have been gray since I was 17 and now it’s in full force. I’ve gone back and forth about what to do with it.

Ugh… why do people feel entitled to tell others what to do with their lives? I love your new cut. It’s pretty chic and popping.

I have a love hate relationship with my gray. My husband likes it. I’m not a fan of it but i won’t dye it. So I guess I’m slowly embracing it.

I’ve been slow to embrace mine also. I think one of the main factors is the cost of keeping color up especially when my hair grows so fast. I have other things I would rather do with my money than give it to a salon!

I grayed early and I grew to love it. I get lots if nice comments and I always tell people I consider my salt and pepper hair God’s natural highlights. I tried color for about 9 months but that almost destroyed my hair. I’m glad I have it up. Embrace graceful graying. It’s a beautiful thing.

Yes! I colored once and it turned them an ugly yellow color. I’ve finally embraced this part of my life and it feels good to not be concerned about it although everyone else is!

Why must people always give their opinion? Ugh. You look gorgeous love. I have a few grey strands and I think they are cute. Heck we earned them!

You go girl! I love your gray and love your stand on it.
I have been going back and forth with my gray for about a year now.
    One day… one day.
