October Musings

Oh October. Already? This year is surely getting by. Seems like just a few short months ago we met, and now I’m staring you in the face again a year older not sure the wiser but certainly thankful to see you again.

Here is my October chalkboard artistry for the month. I need to clean it up a little but for the most part this is it. The children love it, it really and truly is the small things with little people.

So I’m starting off the month in a personal funk. Lately I’ve been really second guessing my career path or rather lack thereof and really thinking about returning to work. To do what you ask? That’s a good question because I don’t know and it has me a little bit sad.

My husband is all on this kick that we really need to be saving more for retirement…and we do. Not to mention there are tons of things that need to be done around here and while we aren’t struggling, after saving etc. there isn’t a whole lot of extra to go around so that leaves me with the feeling and certainly not the desire to go back to work.

Problem is I don’t want to commute, I don’t want to relinquish my freedom, I don’t want my kids to not see me for days at a time because I’m traveling and I don’t want to do anything I’m not passionate about. I know, first world problems at their finest. All of this kind of keeps me up at night. Kind of has me with the for real sads and feelings of inadequacy that my little side hustles aren’t enough to make all of this madness a non factor.

Oh well. God is able and it’ll all work out as it should.

Excited for October and all of the Fall fun that it brings. Next week my kids are out of school for Fall break and my Dad will be in town so lots of fun in store I’m sure. We’ll be headed to the North Georgia mountains on Thursday for a day of apple picking. Hoping that with the few cool nights that we’ve had  some of the leaves will have started changing colors.

We’ll find our way to the pumpkin patch, do a little horseback riding, stumble our way through a corn maze you know the usual fall stuff.

You’ll notice a few minor changes here on the blog. A newsletter will be making its debut in the next few weeks. If you wouldn’t mind please sign up  below. PLeeeeeaaaaaaseeeeee!

    I signed up:)

Just keep praying and God will reveal his plans for you. Make sure in those prayers to make it plain on what you want and I’m sure you will figure it out. I read a blog post of yours a couple of weeks ago about praying for more work on the blogging field, or it may have been a FB status but I prayed that same prayer and God has been working it out…so I know he has something in the works for you because even though you didnt know it you encouraged me!

I definitely know how you feel. I Spent a significant time this year straight up crying questioning my career choice and path etc., but I just had to keep praying and asking the Lord for guidance. Faith is very important and just knowing that despite how I feel, everything will always fall into place. My Fall’s are always busy. The highlight of my October is finally going to my undergrad Homecoming for the first time on 5 years! I’m officially an old head lol 🙂

Ok I was where you are earlier this year, believe and pray that everything will come into alignment. I chose to return to work and for a while I was like what the heck am I doing, but now that I have gotten into the swing of things I’m enjoying it. This is not for everyone though, talk with your husband and decide what will work best for you and the family. I do miss not being home taking care of things that need to be taken care of and having dinner fixed

First off, your kids get a fall break? Wow, I’ve not heard of that. We only get Spring and Summer. I’m loving the October board.
Maybe God will reveal an answers about the job front in due time.

I’ve been feeling a lot of the same feels- and it’s especially frustrating not knowing what direction to go in. Mainly, I feel bad for how much my husband has to work and miss out on to keep us afloat. Then the other day I made myself sit down with a calculator and figure- if I went back to work making the same as I did before I came home (not likely- the company was overpaying me big time! I’ve had several HR peeps tell me so.)- after daycare and fuel costs and buying lunches, etc- I’d only bring home about $100 a week, which my husband can make in just a few hours of overtime. I was like, majorly sad face. It made me feel pretty bummed, but then I thought about how much value we get from me being at home. Better meals, a cleaner house, time at the library after school, all the memories. I can give up my lousy $100 a week for all this! I think this is the hardest season to be in for us because it can feel like we don’t contribute- but WE DO. You are an awesome mom! Just fold that up and put it in your pocket for next time you feel the sads coming on.

I needed to draft you this little word to thank you so much as before considering the spectacular basics you have shown on this site. It’s really strangely generous with people like you in giving unreservedly just what a number of people could have supplied as an e book to get some money for themselves, most notably considering the fact that you could possibly have tried it in case you decided. These thoughts also worked as a great way to recognize that many people have the same dream much like mine to know a whole lot more with respect to this matter. I am certain there are many more pleasant periods up front for people who check out your blog.
