Mary Mac’s Tea Room + {OOTD}

I have sufficiently informed y’all that I intend to spend the remainder of this year chilling with the homies every chance I get. I’ve had enough of “making” myself too busy to spend time with the people I love. I am at my best laughing , eating and having a cocktail or three with the people who know, get and support me. I’m telling you it’s good for the soul and I implore you to make a few adjustments in your life to make room for these special moments. Life is short.

I digress.

Tuesday morning one  of my best friends called  and asked if I wanted to grab something to eat. Two short hours later we were sitting at Mary Mac’s Tea Room,  a renowned restaurant here in Atlanta. While I’m not a true born ATLien I’ve been here long enough to be quite shamed that I had never been to this iconic restaurant. I found the food to be delicious. You know it can be hit or miss with southern/soul food. Mary Mac’s Tea Room was a hit indeed.

Since we only had a short time we quickly put our orders in, not an easy task. I settled on the highly recommended fried chicken and added sweet potato souffle and macaroni as my sides.

So. D&*n. Good.

I’m not a big eater but if it’s good and in front of me…come on now.

Peter Som for Kohl’s Must Have Staples + $100 Giveaway

* I have been provided compensation to facilitate this post via the Kohl’s Ambassador Campaign. All opinions are mine. You already know!!*

Sadly this is my last post for the  Kohl’s /Peter Som ambassador campaign. I hope you’ve enjoyed my outfit pictures and gotten a good idea of the amazing fashion at affordable pricing that Kohl’s has to offer.

This week I picked up two last items and while I could’ve gone crazy I stuck with the basics. Basics should never be underestimated, as they are the blank canvas that gives our accessories and statement pieces the arena to shine.

I couldn’t leave without picking up the white Moto jacket. It is everything on. I’ll admit on the hanger I wasn’t impressed but I’m sure glad I tried it on. The fabric is perfect to cover your arms at the movies or for a walk on the beach at night. I thought it had a lot of potential and I’ve dressed it three different ways.

With the whole talk that it is okay to wear white year round, while not totally on board with this new fashion rule in the event I feel the need to run full speed to catch that train this jacket is my ticket.

I think the gold accents on the jacket are just enough to subtlety add a  little bling for people like me who like to keep it classic and simple.

Shop the entire collection online and if you didn’t have any luck winning the contest last week you’re in for a treat. I’m hosting another giveaway this week for another $100 Kohl’s  Gift Card!!

Peter Som for Kohl’s in Stores Now + $100 Gift Card Giveaway

* I was provided compensation to facilitate this post as a Kohl’s Fashion Ambassador. All opinions are mine. You already know*

I’m not a big online shopper and one of the prominent reasons is I have a hard time imagining what a fabric might feel like or actually look like when I have it in hand. I’ve had to return one too many items because at some point my  thoughts on what I should receive and what I actually got somehow got lost in translation.

I said all of that to say I didn’t have any particular expectations for the Peter Som collection. I knew there were quite a few pieces that I’d seen online that caught my eye but I wasn’t sure if the photos would translate into real life. Oh, but they did. I was impressed with the fabrics and how easily the separate pieces mixed and matched with one another.

Before I knew it I was headed to the fitting room with nearly one of every pre-sale item.

I took an Instagram and Facebook poll on these dresses and it was tied. I did end up purchasing the colored one but upon getting home I’ve decided to possibly replace it with another item.

I was hoping this set was available during the pre-sale but it wasn’t. I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on this. Can’t. WAIT. Y’all should know by now I’m all about fashion and function. I need these pieces to serve multiple purposes and this set here is just my style.

Peter Som Black and White

While I had a bit of a miss with the dress I did pick up these very versatile pants. I purchased them because I knew they would look just as good with flip flops as they would with heels. I actually wore them to my son’s piano recital on Sunday.

Fashion Mama Style Summer

Dress Shopping with Kohl’s

*Screaming* Spring is finally here!

The weather  finally broke here in Georgia and I am crossing my fingers that we have seen the last of  freezing temperatures for awhile. Now is that awkward time in your wardrobe life where you aren’t quite ready to pull out your summer clothing but it’s too warm for your winter things. Kind of like that pregnancy phase where you are too small for maternity but too big for regular clothes. Feel me?

Dresses are a great way to combat this wardrobe tight rope walk. Putting on a dress and layering it with a jacket or throwing on a pair of tights underneath are great options to start bringing a little Spring and Summer into your wardrobe. Little peeks, like those budding bushes are just enough to keep you anxious for consistently warmer days.

I took a trip to Kohl’s recently and again they did not disappoint when it came to a great selection of dresses to start the Spring wardrobe transition. From maxi dresses to party dresses I was impressed. Not only was I impressed, I wanted ALL of the dresses.

Since I couldn’t have ALL of the dresses, I chose 2 dresses that I thought would have potential for me to style in different ways. That’s layman terms for I wanted to be able to get every bang for the buck out of the dresses I selected. I wanted them to be able to transform from playdate casual to date night fab.

My first selection was this coral maxi dress. Yesssss! I loved the color immediately on my skin tone. Unfortunately I won’t be wearing it without my Spanx but I know I’m not alone in the battle of the belly bulge.

Play date casual, quick run to the grocery store, run an errand is what I call this look.

A Day at the beach, my hair isn’t up for lookers, and lunch with the homegirls. I have options with this one.

Kohl's

I only have date night on this one. Nothing too fancy, just a little night out on the town.

Kohl's

I rarely go with short dresses, so I took a walk on the wild side and picked up this to the knee number. I think I am loving Coral this season.

Night out with the girls, date night, a wedding….

Dresses are certainly an easy way to look fab instantly. Add a few accessories a headwrap and some shoes and you are out the door.

For those of you that follow me on Instagram…I did say yes to this dress. I just need that real good pair of Spanx to rock this one. You’ll see it again soon. I promise!

Kohl's Jennifer Lopez

Are you a dress girl? Will you take my advice and take a walk on the wild side and show a ‘lil leg this season? Are you a maxi dress girl or do you prefer short and sexy?
