Christmas Holidays Weekend

Weekend WrapUp

Hey!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

This weekend was slightly busy but in a good, non stressful kind of way. A few weeks ago a couple of my girlfriends from college and I thought it would be a good idea to do a gift exchange and cookie party for our children. On Friday evening, we all gathered at the hostess’ house and helped the children make cookies, and ornaments. We then ate pizza and exchanged gifts. The entire time we were doing our festive activities I just kept thinking how did we go from passing out and holding each other up in the club to baking and making Christmas crafts with a whole bunch of kids…I know. God is able.

Saturday we took it easy and around 4 o’clock we drug ourselves out of the house to do some grocery shopping and get our Christmas tree. Get home, put the groceries up, and the children are so excited to decorate the tree. After searching high and low for the ornaments for at least 20 minutes I conveniently remembered that I threw them all away last year with the intent to buy all new ones. Please don’t judge me. To appease those babies I let them recklessly string lights on the tree until I can get to Walmart today to get some new ornaments. I said don’t judge!!!

Sunday was a busy day. The first stop was to a local tweet up with Motions haircare. The event was hosted by Danielle of The Style and Beauty Doctor and Lexi of Lexi With the Curls. We went around discussing our natural hair journeys, and exchanged tips on how to style our hair for the holidays. I got some great tips and some great products. More detailed post to come later in the week.

Left from the tweetup and headed over to Ammazza a new pizzeria here in Atlanta. There is a group of mothers here that go by Georgia Social Media Moms and the event here was our first Christmas Party. Everyone was welcome to bring their families but I went solo...cause I needed a minute to myself. The pizza was amazing, and the atmosphere was equally magnificent. I will definitely be headed back there with the family in tow. Unfortunately my camera and phone were dying by the time I got there so I don’t have many photos but the ambiance was amazing. If you are in Atlanta check them out.

For Sunday’s festivities I wore:

Shirt: Thrifted Jeans: Thrifted Belt: Thrifted Shoes: Target Clearance $5.98!!!!!

Overall an awesome weekend. How was yours? Are your Christmas decorations up? Is your Christmas shopping done, almost done or are you still waiting on the spirit of Christmas present to move you?

My Camera and I…A Rekindled Romance

If you have been reading over here for awhile you remember a time when I was obsessed with my camera. I was  taking lots of pictures and really immersing myself into learning more about photography and then….

Life got in the way. Okay, I won’t blame it solely on life because shortly after I returned from Blogher I discovered that one of my kit lenses had broken and it totally took the last bit of photo taking breath in me when it died. Not to mention I was discouraged that I wasn’t able to create some of the prettier pictures that I had seen other bloggers taking so I decided I would wait until I got a new camera before I picked up my hobby again. EX.C– USES

Well, I am happy to say that last week my new baby was delivered. I have the shutterbug again. I even joined Clickin’ Moms. You have been warned, there will be lots of pictures from here on out until the newness of this camera wears off.

I was determined to get some fall photos of my babies so I went out with my old camera a few weeks ago and snapped these after having to use the manual focus on the lens. What a struggle. These aren’t  that great, but they served the purpose. However, I guarantee the Christmas ones will be amazing.

Weekend

Pajama Program Jammy Jam

This past Saturday I co-hosted a charity event along with Sojourner, Tiffini, Raisa and Bunnie to benefit the Georgia Chapter of the Pajama Program. The Pajama Program is a national organization that collects and distributes pajamas and books to children in need that are often housed in shelters and foster homes.

The event was held at KIPP Strive Academy here in Atlanta. We had a bounce house, face painting and games for the children. We collected a total of 77 pair of pajamas which means that 77 children will sleep warm and that makes me sooooo happy!

Tiffini was the face painter for the day

A huge thank you to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and their Strong4Life campaign for sending over gift bags

Young Masterminds of Atlanta was there. Awesome summer camp resource

P.J. Tuttles was also a sponsor. Great party décor for little girls of color

 Hostesses and Sponsors

Of course some of the ever supportive Atlanta bloggers came through to show their support. ALWAYS appreciated

The lovely Tia and her babies

Efie was in the house.

Even Mama Bernetta came through!!

Another blogger named Kita was also there but she refused to be photographed *issues a major side eye*

The event was great. Glad to be able to have helped so many children get something that we often take for granted. Stay tuned for the next event 😉

Beauty Nail Polish

Just Another MANICure Monday

Happy Monday!!

Hope your weekend was well. Honored to be your hostess with the mostess this lovely Monday.

This week I kept my manicure a little simple because I had a crazy weekend and by the time I was able to sit down and do my nails I was two sheets in the wind mentally and physically.

This week I used:

Sally Hansen/Pumice: Orly/ Too Fab: NYC/ Matte Me Crazy

I painted with the gray, added the glitter top coat and then finished off with the matte polish. The effect is pretty neat. I wasn’t able to successfully convey it in the photo but it is completely matte and the gold flakes add a little bling against the matte polish…and yes, I probably should’ve put a little lotion on before I took this photo :-/

Time to link up. Linky will stay open until Friday. Show us what you got!!
