Holiday Travel Essentials

I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas. We won’t be traveling as a family for the holiday, but I may be scooting out to New York for New Years weekend to kick it with the homies. The few times that we have traveled during Christmas, I feel like my nerves were a complete wreck by the time we got where we were going.

You know, we have to get the kids stuff together, and our stuff together, and clean the house, and wrap presents, and fit said presents in the car. It’s so much to keep up with.

When traveling during the holidays, it is really hard to predict what will happen with delays, lost luggage etc. so as they say, stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. Whenever I travel, I always keep my essentials with me in a carry-on. I  include a change of clothing, something to read, my phone, laptop, chargers and any personal items I may need.

Personal items to include: deodorant, feminine hygiene, soap, lipstick, bobby pins, scrunchies, you know those things that can turn a situation with lost luggage into something that you can work with.

While I don’t experience bladder leaks, the reality is nearly 1 in 3 women do, and that number increases to 1 in 2 for African American women. If the possibility of holiday travel shenanigans isn’t a reason to keep the protection you need in reach, I don’t know what is. If you suffer from bladder leaks, Always Discreet offers extraordinary protection that you can barely feel, leaving you protected and comfortable as you go about doing all of the things, and traveling to all of the places.

Normalizing our body changes… hello 40, I see you, should be discussions women are having in the open, and in our private circles. Here are a few statistics on the reality of bladder leakage in women: of the 25 million adult Americans suffering from some form of urinary incontinence, 75-80% of those are women. In fact, 1 in 3 women have experienced bladder leaks. So, spoiler alert – a little leakage is something most women have or will experience at some point in their lives, but it doesn’t have to disrupt your fabulous life.

Always believes body changes are part of being a woman, and that as you move about in the activities you enjoy doing, you shouldn’t have to worry with having the proper protection that you are comfortable in.

You can pick up Always Discreet at Walgreens… and if online shopping is your thing you can purchase at Walgreens online.

Tech Gifts for Busy Women

Thank you to Intel for powering/sponsoring this gift guide.

Time management is a huge component of being successful as a busy women and/or mom on the go. “No time wasted” is one of my mantras and it simply means that every minute of my day needs to be devoted to something to ensure my life runs as efficiently as possible, and I can climb in my bed at a decent time.

Products that are easy to transport and have the power to connect to wifi/bluetooth wherever you are can turn those downtimes while commuting, waiting on a lesson, or at a game entertaining and productive.

Here are a few tech items that make great gifts for the women in your life that are constantly on the go.

1 | Intel Lenova 920 Yoga This is the gift that keeps on giving. Whether for a mom on the go or any member of your family, the versatility of this laptop and the speed of the 8th Gen Core processor makes light work of traditional work actions, streaming and powering other high tech apps and products that they may already own. Based on its performance capabilities, the Lenovo 920 Yoga makes subsequent gift giving a little easier during the year. Just keep gifting tech products that will work seamlessly with the laptop.

It’s wifi/bluetooth enabled so you can easily download images and HD recorded video to your computer for editing or sharing from wherever you are. You will capture great memories with 20.1 megapixels and HD video capabilities. The camera is also touch screen.

3 |Bohm Headphones The sleek look of these bluetooth/wireless headphones are head turning. These are great for listening to music or your favorite podcast while on the go.

4 | Streaming App/Magazine Gifting an online subscription to a magazine or streaming service whether it be for books, music or movies is a great gift. I love Real Simple Magazine, and my sweet neighbor has gifted me a subscription for the past two years. Most print versions of magazines now come with a free online subscription that can be accessed from any phone, tablet or laptop.

5 | Stylish laptop bag Protect the laptop with a stylish and functional carrying bag. This one from Kate Spade is a classic.

If you’re into gaming or know someone who is, you may consider buying a league smurfs account, I’ve heard amazing things about it so check them out!

And to go along with that, my friend recently looked into improving his broadband speed. He wasn’t exactly happy with his service so he looked to change providers. He found a fantastic quote through Usave. On top of saving money, he has the service he has always wanted. If you were interested in getting the right broadband for yourself, find more here.

Elf on the Shelf Finale

Bella and Charlotte have been a Christmas tradition in our home since 2013. Just when I thought I would move on to another tradition and let everything out of the bag, today I was excitedly informed that Addison had gotten word that Bella and Charlotte are busy at the North Pole packing their suitcases to come see us.

I think the elves moved a whole 5 times last year. Now I’m left holding my plan in shattered pieces. I am committing to making this the best year ever for her memories. There will not be a next year, Bella and Charlotte will turn into regular Christmas decor in 2018 and find themselves placed amongst the nutcrackers and garland like everything else.

Maybe I’ll come back with a printable and a fun list of places to hide them to share with you by Wednesday. Please don’t hold me to this.

Excuse me, while I go try to remember where I put them.

Christmas Food

White Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Cookies

I’ve been sick. Like under the bed sick, open one eye in the morning to assess whether I feel like myself before pulling the cover back over my head 3 days in a row type of sick.

Yesterday, I managed to salvage a part of my normal existence and baked some cookies with the babies. Poor things have been trapped in the house since Monday being my nurses. I grocery shopped this weekend and purchased some bananas that needed to be used so I thought I’d try banana bread cookies for my contribution to the tasty #HousefulofCookies blog hop happening over at Houseful of Nicholes.

The cookies surprisingly came out very well. The consistency was very much that of banana bread but in cookie form.

I was feeling adventurous so tossed in a cup of white chocolate morsels that I had on hand.
