40 is My Magic Sleep Number

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit a local Sleep Number store in my area to try out some of the mattresses and do the assessment to figure out my personal sleep number. I have never seen so many mattresses in my life! From single mattresses to queen mattresses, I just couldn’t wait to try them out!!

I went into the experience knowing very little about the products except that the bed came with two remotes and it seemed like something that was pretty neat to play with. I had an idea that the cost was probably something that was out of my price range and as a result I never went in the store until I was presented with this review opportunity.

My first impression of the store was that I was utterly surprised that they sold more than just beds. There were sheets, comforters, pillows, and customizable headboards. I was sent a Coolfit Foam Pillow in exchange for my review and it is like the pillow of all pillows. We have dubbed it the “cloud” around here because that’s what it feels like. We fight over it and whoever falls asleep first is likely to get jacked of it. There was also state of the art bed linens that can detect when your body is hot and will draw the heat away to make sure you sleep comfortable. Just a whole bunch of bed linen awesomeness to be had.

I finally ventured to the back and laid on a mattress where the employee set the number as high as it would go and then she began lowering the numbers and asked me to tell her when I felt uncomfortable. From that point she raised it back up to the point where I felt most comfortable. That number was 40, my sleep number.

In addition she pulled up this state of the art analysis of the pressure zones in my body on a screen at the end of the bed that reminded me of plexiglass. I was able to see where my pressure zones where and how they turned from red to blue as she lowered me back down into my sleep number.

For lack of better words when I was laying at my sleep number it felt like I was being cuddled. If you’ve ever felt memory foam, just imagine being hugged by a memory foam man. I didn’t realize how much you really feel your pressure points when you lay on a regular mattress until I laid on the M9. I just wished they would loan me one for like a week so I could get the entire experience.

My store experience would’ve been a total WOW if I didn’t have to keep peeking up to make sure my children weren’t tearing up the store. I digress

After my analysis was complete a print out of the mattress type, costs and additional options were provided to me. Yep, my jaw dropped but keeping in mind that we wouldn’t have to purchase another mattress for 20 years we have decided to purchase one when we get ready to move.

Yes, the pricing is a bit more than what you would pay for an average mattress but the value is definitely there. The average mattress lasts about 7 years, you won’t have to replace this one for nearly 20. There are different price points and mattresses some more affordable than others but the investment in my eyes would be totally worth it. Before I bought a mattress, I read some articles like this one to make sure I was getting a good quality mattress.

If you do nothing but take a trip into the store and take a look around I think you will be surprised…just don’t take your kids *side eye*

Building The House…Episode 6

Much has changed since my last post. Not so much on the construction end but from my mental space regarding this process although I am sure it will change again. However at THIS moment I am in a good space.

Ultimately I know that in MY life all things come from God. ALL things. With that I have to leave this process in His hands and do what I can. Letting go is such a necessary evil, and these past few weeks have shown me that in more ways than one. I’m forcefully having to accept and swallow this horse pill but I’ve been praying and this week has been good.

The bank finally responded and basically approved us for the option to skip three payments. Once we skipped those three payments they would consider us for the short sale.

Nope. Not an option. We can’t miss any payments. After that news I got in contact with another agency that specializes in short sales and I was ready to send them our paperwork when the sales agent called to say she had been swamped and profusely apologized for her lack of attention to our file and that she would be contacting the bank on our behalf to complete the process.

We have decided to let her proceed putting our faith where it belongs and hoping for the best. Our lot still has not been graded but building is well under way in the first phase. It is really looking like January for the foundation to be poured with a closing date sometime in March or April. We need all of the time we can get!

Christmas Holidays

Handmade/Small Business Holiday Gift Guide

I know I should’ve had this up for Small Biz Saturday but….no time better than the present.

In my dealings and perusing on the inter-webs and the streets of Atlanta I come across some pretty unique and useful things. As Christmas is upon us I thought I would highlight some of these businesses that I have patronized and love.

 1. Pretty Girl Bow-Rettes by Antonette: I love her hairbows. I MAY or may not have bought some to give as a gift and kept them for myself…don’t be like me.

2. Expressions by BTS Events Inc.: She plans events and makes invitations and stationary by hand. She is currently running a Christmas card special. For $40 you can receive 20  one of a kind Christmas cards with your photo of choice. Pricing includes envelopes and shipping.

3. Bernetta’s Body Butter Blend: You all may be familiar with Bernetta from her blog but she also whips up the most ash busting body butter. I have used it on my skin, and the baby’s hair. I’m hooked.

4. D’Lish Soap Factory: I’m not sure how I came across this brand but I purchased some as a gift and was real tempted to keep it for myself. FYI, you can’t eat this, it’s soap!

5. Wrist Soiree: Once again one of my incessant late night internet sessions dropped this shop in my lap. I love these bracelets and I love the pricing on them even more. How unique are these

6. LaLynns: Efie doesn’t just blog but runs an accessories shop that has some very unique statement jewelry pieces. Whether you are in search of something for a special event or for everyday wear she has something for you.

7. Nineteen Pieces: I love jewelry can’t you tell. Nineteen Pieces also offers up some unique handmade pieces that are made to look like their more expensive counterparts.

I was not provided any compensation for this gift guide. I just like to share the love  and give you somewhere to start in the event you were stumped on what to get me the people on your list for Christmas!!!!!!

Beauty Nail Polish

Just Another MANICure Monday

Hey!!

I haven’t been feeling very creative lately but I’ve been dying to try out some polka dots on my nails. Seeing that this was my first time I thought I should keep it to two nails so I did my accent nails with a few dots. I love how they turned out.

I used:

Sally Hansen/Onyx: Essie/No Place Like Chrome

The party is happening over at Lalynns this week. Go link up and show off your MANICure!
