Faith

….the substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen. Not the singer

We would all like to go twirling through life with no issues and know where every piece of the puzzle will land and the precise time at which it will do so.

Not so.

If you follow me on Instagram, on Sunday you may have seen the photo I posted of us picking out the lot for our new home. No, it was not the one I posted last week and at this time I have decided to only reveal bits and pieces of this process because this has been the result of MANY years of praying and crying and wondering why it was happening for others and not me and finally getting to a place where I was comfortable being happy for others and thanking God for where I was even if it wasn’t where I wanted to be.

I am still in such awe that this is actually happening and there are yet two major hurdles in front of us that we are believing God for. As we cross those hurdles I will share as a testimony and not as a look what I am getting. So many of us are going through and just need to see God working in other people’s lives to be reminded that He sees after His children cause God knows I had to learn to appreciate God moving in other people’s lives to learn to be happy with my own life.

The next 5 months of my life are going to be a true testament to what looks impossible. We’ll all rejoice on December 14, 2012. I don’t how we’ll get there but I’m believing. That’s all I can I do.

While I was driving the other day I heard “Nothing Yet” and  it came back to me today and I couldn’t remember who sang it so thanks to Latorsha over at Life is Hard, Laugh Anyway for replying to this tweet…

…and just in case you need to hear it..here you go!!

and a huge thanks to Amber at The Yeyo Diaries and Erika at Blulabel Bungalow 😉 I was having an awful day and these ladies were on it. When you don’t have sense enough to pray and believe you need some folks on your team that will get you back in line. I’m grateful.

What’s been pushing the limits of your faith?!!

NOT Living Vicariously Through My Son

My son decided he didn’t want to play football this year.

I really wanted him to.

Remember last year my endless ramblings about how those 3 times a week practices were wrecking my flow and how every time we turned around they needed $10 for socks and $30 for a sweatshirt. Remember?

No? Well go back and read there’s some good stuff the further down you scroll. I digress.

Well the thing is I was looking forward to football season. Chatting with the other moms at practice,  starting out the season baking in the sun during practice and totally appreciating the cool breeze as the fall progressed. Wearing my shirt….All of that.

..but he doesn’t want to play. It was my thought to make him play when the Mr. put his foot down and reminded me that he is old enough to know what he likes and doesn’t and that if he doesn’t want to play, we won’t be making him.

<insert sad face>

As parents there comes that time when our children become independent and can really tell us what they want and it really tests our limits of parental superiority. Sure we could make him play but then he would be miserable while I’m eating funnel cakes, chasing Addison around and shooting the breeze with the other moms.

So I’m off to find him another fall sport and hopefully I’ll bond with the other moms on the team. After all that’s the main reason why I wanted him to play in the first place. I’m so selfish, but isn’t that the basis most of the time for us pushing our agendas on our children.

I should probably speak for myself!!

Here’s some news though…He will NOT be quitting piano. I mean that. See, he plays so well doesn’t he?!!

Have you ever made your child play a sport or instrument etc. against their will. What was your rationale?

Weekend

Weekend Wrap Up

Hey!!!

How was your weekend. The heat here was sweltering. From the sounds of it the weather has been hellacious all over so I don’t think there is a person reading this who isn’t counting down to fall. I know I am.

.

&*%$#@!@$ its hot

We are seriously in the process of looking for a new home and have been getting serious about finding which side of town we want to be on and we found something that we both agree on. At this point the home would need to be built but I’m not really in the mood to do a whole lot of looking. So for now this is the floorplan we chose. We will be looking at a few other homes in the coming weeks but if we don’t find anything this will be it. I hope we don’t find anything else!!

House

After leaving the subdivision I headed over to the mall to have lunch with my Cali  blog sister Krissy. She was in town for her family reunion and I got to see her IRL!! For some reason we forgot to snap a pic of the both of us together but we managed to get one of our girls! It was just like we were old friends…I mean we do read each others business on the daily.

.

Left Krissy and headed over to visit a good friend of mine who just had the sweetest little baby. I think I want another baby…sometimes.

Saturday I headed out to the Jill Scott and Kem concert with my bestie and her husband. Yes, I was the third wheel since the Mr. didn’t want to go and at $150/ticket I wasn’t complaining. OMG!! Can you say hot and crowded. I had the nerve to be sipping on some Sangria, but I was flushing it down with water. I wanted no parts of any passing out. Jill was AMAZING as always. If you haven’t seen her in concert put it on your bucket list.
