Children Lil Man Parenting

Paranoid

I have fond memories of being a child and spending my days outdoors jumping double dutch, running home begging for change when I heard the ice cream truck on the horizon and spending endless hours playing hide and go seek.

Our lives as children were so carefree in relation to the lives that our children our forced to live today.

The other day my son asked for permission to go outdoors. I said yes, with the stipulation that he was to come  back home if no one was allowed to come out. I normally call my neighbor to make sure he made it to her house, even though she is one house down. This particular day I decided to look out of the window instead of call. I tried to tell myself that he was fine but my intuition said otherwise.

As I looked out of the window I saw him standing by my neighbors house and they weren’t home. I watched for awhile to see if he would head home. Next, he wandered over to another neighbor’s house who also wasn’t home. I continued to watch. He was just out there standing and wandering. At the same time there was another boy playing on the basketball goal. I hate to judge, but something about this boy doesn’t settle right with me.He is in high school and for lack of better words reminds me of being a little off. He doesn’t speak, the other kids don’t play with him. I just don’t know about him…I’ve always said this.

I finally head outside and yell to my son “What did I say?” He looks at me and says nothing.

All I could think about is this could’ve been the day when the boy playing basketball could’ve taken him off somewhere and…..or someone could’ve driven in the cul de sac and grabbed him. My imagination can get very vivid. I was so upset with him, and he is now on punishment and is no longer allowed to go outside unsupervised.

I hate taking this freedom from him, but I just can’t live with the thought of something happening to him. It happens everyday. If he didn’t listen to me when I said come in the house, how will I know he will listen when I say don’t talk to strangers or run and yell if someone tries to grab you…Until I feel like he gets it, he can’t play outside without supervision.

Am I tripping? Not that your opinion will change how I have chosen to proceed but I would like to hear your thoughts. Do you allow your children to play outside unsupervised?

Wok No

You have stalked Pinterest, carefully meal planned for the week and are actually excited to try out your new finds when……you’ve been out all day, the traffic was awful, the kid got sick, you have a headache, Murphy’s law showed up and showed out and all of your planning is gone out of the window.

What do you eat? Like seriously.

I know we all have that one easy concoction of a meal that is the go to. Well, share yours. I’m tired of ours.

I’m too ashamed to tell you what one of them is but the other is usually chicken stir fry. I buy the vegetables already cut up in the bag. I throw it in the pot with some pre cut chicken strips, pour a bottle of teriyaki sauce over it while the rice cooker gets the rice ready and voila!

Welp, I think we can only eat so much chicken stir fry. What is your go to easy meal when you just don’t feel like cooking.

My family appreciates your generosity and sharing spirit in advance…trust me.

Weekend Wrap Up

Heeeeeeey!!

How are ya? Can you believe it is April already. Q1 completed. We’re moving right along.

My son is on spring break this week and to think that in a little over a month they will be out for the summer. *freaks out and runs in circles* what am I going to do with these children over the summer..another post for another day.

Anywho.

This weekend was kind of busy. I went out Wednesday night to a benefit for Atlanta Diaper Relief. It was hosted by Everywhere a local social media marketing firm. It was held at Nancy’s Buckhead where the food and Ciroc specialty drinks were flowing as we enjoyed a fun evening singing karaoke and collecting diapers for the diaper bank.

Of course my bloggy BFF Trina and I had to start the party off right with Poison by BBD. We did that.

From my understanding nearly 2K diapers were collected. Doing good and have a good time..yasssss!!

After that laid low until the weekend. Friday the new Toys R Us/ Babies R Us store opened in my neighborhood.  I was super stoked when I saw that the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba would be there. Seeing that Addison loves them, I had the genius idea to take her down there to see them. Well she acted a darn fool and this was the best shot I could get of her with Foofah and Plex. You should’ve seen the horror on her face when Brobee reached out to touch her. She may be scarred for life. Just maybe.

Saturday morning after grocery shopping and a few other errands I went to a Stella and Dot party at the home of Mattie of Mattieologie. The party was hosted by Gina of Mommy Posh. So great meeting her in real life. Her NY accent was all of that…I digress. Stella and Dot has some awesome pieces.

After chatting for awhile, Lil Mama and I headed over to Fridays to have lunch with Eboni, Lexi, Tish and Trina.

Came back to the crib and relaxed for the rest of the weekend.

What’s crackin’ or should I say what cracked in your hood or burb this weekend?
