Motivation Monday

Happy Monday. Hope your weekend was well.

Friday, I got a last minute call from Trina asking if I wanted to head down to the Blogalicious event being held downtown. Although it was last minute I threw on some clothes and met her down there. Glad I did. Got a wealth of information regarding how to brand and monetize a blog..Armed with this knowledge, I have decided to brand my blog. Details to come. After networking, having a mojito, and catching up with other area bloggers I headed home to get ready for early morning kick off time.

Lil Man’s first game was Saturday morning. Pleased to announce they won. Gooooo Wolfpack. It was super hot out there, I am counting down the days until cooler weather.

Mr. and Lil Mama

The Mr. coaches his own pee wee team so after the game he took Lil Man with him to his team’s game and Lil Mama and I headed to do some shopping. I needed to get my stepdaughter some school clothes and Lil Man some jeans. Last week he may or may not have gone to school “flooding”. Can’t have that. Was happy that Old Navy was having a sale for $10 kids jeans. I love their jeans because they wash well and last pretty long. I bought a ton of jeans and a few other things and headed to Goodwill. I have taken up thrifting lately and boy some of the finds I have found….I’ll do a post later in the week with some of my finds. After a long day of shopping we headed home.

Sunday was chill day. I slept in. The Mr. took the morning shift. Then I woke up and took over so he could nap. Restful day.

This week I have a few goals that I need to accomplish.

Miles: This week in training for the half marathon, I need to run a total of 14 mi.

Meals: I get texts daily from Martha Stewart Living with daily meal ideas. One day last week one for Pineapple Stuffed Jerk Chicken came through. I am going to try this one day this week. OMG, sounds so good. If it turns out well, I’ll blog about it. You know your girl is kitchen challenged!

Piano: I have been slacking on practicing with Lil Man like I should. He needs to practice every day this week…*sigh*

Raise the Roof

Please stop bobbing your head singing the Luke version to Raise the roof in your head. This blog post isn’t about dancing and fun times, but is about raising the roof in a more literal sense. As in get your arse on a ladder and raise some of those shingles on top of the house…dance to that.

Got a letter from Allstate last week, that as of some date in September our Homeowners Insurance policy would be terminated unless we made some repairs to the siding on our house and get this the roof. For real, you send this to me last week and September is a few weeks away. Called Sean Buckley’s office…nicely, I have you. Questioned the intent of the letter and wouldn’t you know the information on it was accurate.

Hmmm…now what. We need a new roof. What to do, what to do? Welp, just a bit perturbed at the fact that my next door neighbor whom my son hits his house throwing the ball..he’s that close to us, got his replaced by Allstate for hail damage but we got denied. Shaaaaaaaaaady!

Not worried. You know me, too cool for that. We have money saved away and if need be we will have to touch it..don’t want to, but its there and I’m thankful. However, I have faith that God will fix it and when the adjuster comes back out, they will approve our claim and we can keep our rainy day fund in tact.

This is the first major improvement we have had to make to the house in 5 years. Have you had to make any home repairs. All horror stories welcomed. Make sure to tell how it worked out for our Debbie downers out there to understand that no matter how much you stress, things ALWAYS work out just how they are supposed to 🙂

*drumroll* If you didn’t catch a clue from the title of this post, I went to Philadelphia. One of my very good friends Keysha was celebrating her 30th birthday and a surprise party was being thrown in her honor. Keysha made the trek for my 30th so I was definitely going to make the trip for hers..

My action packed weekend started on Friday night at the Tastmaker Magazine launch party. The party was fabulous and took place upon the rooftop terrace of the Renaissance hotel here in Atlanta. I got there around 8pm with the intention of leaving at 10pm in order to get home and ready for my 6am flight..so yeah, that was a bust I didn’t get home until 1a. The party was fantastic, I was there with my girls Niya, Erika and Trina from Baby Shopaholic.

As if winning the shoes wasn’t enough from the event here..She won a HP smart phone at this event. The weird thing is she told me that she is known for winning things at every event she attends. Hmmmm at this point she is 2 for 2. I hope some of that magic rubs off on me!

So then I rush home and pack. Needless to say I didn’t go to sleep at ALL. Left the house at 4:30a for a 6a flight.

We got to Philadelphia around 8 and headed to Keysha’s house. She was in Atlantic City when we got there. We helped with some last minute preparations and oddly enough when she arrived we were upstairs getting ready. We ended up rushing outside without combing our hair or changing our clothes. We just hung out like old times. I miss my girls, it was great to have us all back in the same place..its been awhile. Anxiously awaiting my next girls meetup out of town. Did someone say Vegas?!!
