What I Wore

Last week I did manage to get out without my skinny jeans and Uggs on.

Tuesday evening I ventured over to Nancy’s Pizza to party with Tami for her annual Christmas party.

Tunic: Thrifted Necklace: Thrifted Vegan Leather Pants: Forever 21

Bracelet: Macy’s Belt: Thrifted Shoes: Ross

Friday, I volunteered some hours at the Alliance Theater with the Pajama Program and then headed over to mingle with a few of my favorite bloggers for a party sponsored by Just Fab. No, your mind is not playing tricks on you. I indeed have a snowflake painted on my face. During the time I was  volunteering there was a face painter onsite and to get in the spirit and encourage the children to participate I decided to get mine done #youcare.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Headwrap Tutorial & Giveaway

Being well put together sometimes comes down to merely your accessories and other small touches that make a huge impact.

Earrings, necklaces, and even headwraps can turn a plain t shirt and jeans into a major statement. I have been in love with headwraps for quite some time and could never quite get them to work for me until recently.

In a little over 2 minutes my headwrap, earrings, necklace and sunglasses provided just the right amount of fab to turn my drab outfit of a plain shirt, jeans and Uggs into something I like to call “kick around chic.”

I received a lot of requests to complete a tutorial on how I managed to get my headwrap to look like that and I against my better judgment have submitted myself to the Youtube gods and created a video. I kept it simple and hopefully it will help someone.

In the video I explained the key to creating this look is to make sure your scarf is sizable enough. Lucky for y’all the scarf I am wearing was made by one of my good friends who owns My Head Tie, and she has been generous enough to provide me with three scarves to giveaway. They are not only good for headwraps but double as night caps. Made of imported silk they work wonders in maintaining your hair while you sleep. They are even available in smaller sizes for children. They get better with every wash. Like the silk becomes so soft and pliable and I can’t really explain it but I freaked out when I lost mine. You know how folks are about their head scarves!!

The giveaway will run for one week. Three winners will be selected on November 21. Good Luck!!!

Bebe Stores #GirlsNightOut

Atlanta based fashion blogger Eboni of Fashionista Next Door was selected to host an uber fab party at the Lenox Mall Bebe store here in Atlanta. I was pretty stoked when she asked me to be one of the bloggers who got to roll to the event with her in a limo.

Eboni, Trina, Jazmine, Tia, Charee and I all rode to the event in style, laughing and chatting it up in true girls night out fashion.

Upon our arrival to the store we were met by some of my favorite Atlanta bloggers. We drank, ate and of course shopped. We were bad influences on one another but I have you know I practiced discipline and kept my spending to a minimum. I even stayed below the budget I set for myself after my giftcard was spent.

Britt, Charee, Yours Truly, Lily Kai, Jazmine

I actually purchased the scarf that is in my hand, and I am still kicking myself about not getting the leopard print one that is around my neck…I should go back and get it.

I also purchased this hat. Although you can’t see it that well in the photo you will be seeing it around these parts..Don’t worry!

I had been having a rough week with the children. Nothing in particular but I was pretty sure if I didn’t get a break I was likely to start pulling my hair out.  This was right up my alley and fed my craving for a little girlfriend/adult interaction.

Seeing that I carry fun in my clutch, I decided to sprinkle some on Trina and we had a good time playing in the mirror at Bebe

Overall we had an awesome night. The clothing that is now in Bebe stores is perfect for the holiday season. If you are looking for that perfect outfit whether it be formal or casual, consider Bebe. They have a little of something for everybody and every occasion from clothing to accessories.

I wore:

Black jumpsuit/Belt/Jacket/: Thrifted Scarf: Bebe Earrings: Mommy’s

Nineteen Pieces Jewelry Giveaway

I got something for y’all.

I took to Instagram one day and put up a photo of a very expensive pair of earrings that I loved and shortly after I received a tweet from Hannnah. Hannah is the creative genius and jewelry maker behind Nineteen Pieces. She offered to send me a very similar pair of earrings to the ones I was gawking at that she had recreated for her line.

Social media is AWE.SOME

I have worn these earring to death and it is very likely that you have seen me with them on. I get tons of compliments whenever I wear them.

I am always curious as to how business owners get their start so I asked Hannah a few questions regarding her business.

1.) Is your background in jewelry design? If not how did you find your passion for making jewelry?  I have a long background in design. I started off getting my bachelor’s in graphic design from Northeastern University. Then realized I HAD to transition into the fashion industry and move to NYC. So the decision was made and I started school at Parsons the New School for Design in the heart of Manhattan. I graduated with a degree in fashion (apparel) design. I then worked in the industry, designing clothes for major companies for about 4 years. During those 4 years I had an epiphany that I had to design jewelry. I have always been the type of woman that can throw on a tank and jeans and pair it with the hottest earrings or necklace, etc., and my outfit would come together. Gaining this clarity into what I really wanted for my life was amazing. I hit the ground running, formed my own company, and the rest is history. Accessories make the outfit complete no matter what. That’s my motto, anyways.

2.)How long have you been creating and designing jewelry? Around 2 years focusing only on jewelery.

3.) How did you come up with the name Nineteen Pieces?  Nineteen has always been “my number”. As corny as it sounds, it has. I wore this number on every jersey I wore, for every sport I played. When I started messing around with jewelry and designing, it came to my attention that many of my designs contained nineteen components. So it was fate, Nineteen Pieces was born.

4.) 5 years from now where do you see Nineteen Pieces?  In 5 years, Nineteen Pieces will be a major contender in the Accessory business. Nineteen Pieces will bring you funky, unique, on trend jewelry for an affordable price. It will be women’s go to brand because women love to be unique and find items that stand out. All without paying too much. I always say women dress for other women, not for men. It’s usually women who notice! I plan to retail in major department stores, as well as many boutiques across the country. I also plan to grow my online business continuously. Online shopping is the best.

Now for the fun part. I am giving one of you up to $35 to spend in Hannah’s store. My own money. That is how much I appreciate you all for coming by here and reading. Here are some items from her new fall line.

Good Luck!! Giveaway will run for one week.
