What I Wore

I promise moving forward I am going to try my best to do these weekly….or well ummmmm….whenever I go somewhere that is worth putting clothes on for.

Had a pretty busy week. From an event Trina hosted at the Shelli Segal for Laundry showroom in the Apparel Mart (detailed post later in the week) to lunch with a friend I had a pretty busy week. I wore.

Thursday I attended an event previewing Laundry’s Summer 2013 line. Eye candy to come later in the week.

I am also linking up with Mama Style. A part of the linkup is to describe how motherhood has changed your style. I am glad to say that motherhood hasn’t totally changed my style , except for the fact that I am more price conscious. I don’t feel the need to break the bank to look stylish because there are more pressing priorities but I think it makes my style all the more special because I’ve done it on a budget. Anyone can dress nice breaking the bank but doing it on a budget takes some skill! I would like to think I have mad skills son when it comes to fashion!

Put Some Color on Your Gams

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of No nonsense for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Shortly we will make the transition from Winter into Spring and personally I can’t wait.

Spring introduces a  rebirth of color and with the cool/mild temperatures what better time than to throw on some colorful leggings or tights to slowly transition your winter pieces into spring as well as start to slowly incorporate spring pieces into your wardrobe mix.

I have a hard time defining my style because I like a little of everything but I love a mix of funky and conservative…if that makes sense. I have shown just two ways that I would totally rock a pair of colored tights. I am not afraid to take SOME risks when it comes to fashion. However,  I know some people won’t even consider risky behavior when it comes to dressing themselves. Let me give you a few tips that may or may not work for you.

  • Find a piece of printed clothing. It could be a skirt, dress or blouse and from that pattern choose a pair of tights/leggings that pull out one of those colors.

Dress: Thrifted Tights: No nonsense Shoes: Steve Madden

  • For a really bold look don’t be afraid to put on a contrasting shoe and/or blazer/sweater that are close in color

  • If you are a little more conservative, try pairing your colored tights with a pair of shoes and a matching blazer or cardigan for more of a monochromatic look. This combination minimizes contrast and places the focus on your printed clothing article.

So if you know me, you know I rarely break the bank for my clothing and accessories. I received two pair of tights and a pair of legging from No nonsense, and I will say for the price they are extremely sturdy and well made. Sometimes when you purchase tights that are of a lower price point they don’t tend to hug the leg as well and by the end of the day you have some ugly slouching and stretch. Not with these. I wore them all day under a pair of jeans and they fit just as well at the end of the day as they did at the beginning.

Many of us are busy career women and mothers so if picking up a fashion item takes us out of our way we will likely pass it up. Fortunately No nonsense tights/leggings are easily found in your local drug store and mass retailers AND they are way affordable.

Can you say the two As: Affordable and accessible.

Jill Martin who is the co-author of New York Times Bestselling book, “I Have Nothing to Wear” and the New York correspondent for Access Hollywood will be teaming up with No nonsene in the near future as a Brand Ambassador. No nonsense Marketing Director Andrea Angelo had this to say about Jill, ” She is stylish , modern and knows how to make the most out of every outfit in her closet without spending a fortune.”

Hmmmm……sounds like the majority of us. Please make sure to check out No nonsense on the Web > No nonsense tights and leggings, and  on Facebook > No nonsense on Facebook

Have you tried the colored tights/legging trend?  Do you think you will give it a whirl?

Wardrobe Wednesday: Headwrap Tutorial & Giveaway

Being well put together sometimes comes down to merely your accessories and other small touches that make a huge impact.

Earrings, necklaces, and even headwraps can turn a plain t shirt and jeans into a major statement. I have been in love with headwraps for quite some time and could never quite get them to work for me until recently.

In a little over 2 minutes my headwrap, earrings, necklace and sunglasses provided just the right amount of fab to turn my drab outfit of a plain shirt, jeans and Uggs into something I like to call “kick around chic.”

I received a lot of requests to complete a tutorial on how I managed to get my headwrap to look like that and I against my better judgment have submitted myself to the Youtube gods and created a video. I kept it simple and hopefully it will help someone.

In the video I explained the key to creating this look is to make sure your scarf is sizable enough. Lucky for y’all the scarf I am wearing was made by one of my good friends who owns My Head Tie, and she has been generous enough to provide me with three scarves to giveaway. They are not only good for headwraps but double as night caps. Made of imported silk they work wonders in maintaining your hair while you sleep. They are even available in smaller sizes for children. They get better with every wash. Like the silk becomes so soft and pliable and I can’t really explain it but I freaked out when I lost mine. You know how folks are about their head scarves!!

The giveaway will run for one week. Three winners will be selected on November 21. Good Luck!!!

Bebe Stores #GirlsNightOut

Atlanta based fashion blogger Eboni of Fashionista Next Door was selected to host an uber fab party at the Lenox Mall Bebe store here in Atlanta. I was pretty stoked when she asked me to be one of the bloggers who got to roll to the event with her in a limo.

Eboni, Trina, Jazmine, Tia, Charee and I all rode to the event in style, laughing and chatting it up in true girls night out fashion.

Upon our arrival to the store we were met by some of my favorite Atlanta bloggers. We drank, ate and of course shopped. We were bad influences on one another but I have you know I practiced discipline and kept my spending to a minimum. I even stayed below the budget I set for myself after my giftcard was spent.

I actually purchased the scarf that is in my hand, and I am still kicking myself about not getting the leopard print one that is around my neck…I should go back and get it.

I also purchased this hat. Although you can’t see it that well in the photo you will be seeing it around these parts..Don’t worry!

I had been having a rough week with the children. Nothing in particular but I was pretty sure if I didn’t get a break I was likely to start pulling my hair out.  This was right up my alley and fed my craving for a little girlfriend/adult interaction.

Seeing that I carry fun in my clutch, I decided to sprinkle some on Trina and we had a good time playing in the mirror at Bebe

Overall we had an awesome night. The clothing that is now in Bebe stores is perfect for the holiday season. If you are looking for that perfect outfit whether it be formal or casual, consider Bebe. They have a little of something for everybody and every occasion from clothing to accessories.

I wore:

Black jumpsuit/Belt/Jacket/: Thrifted Scarf: Bebe Earrings: Mommy’s

I was provided a gift card from Bebe. All thoughts are solely my own. You already know!!!
