Christmas Décor NaBloPoMo

Getting Ready for Christmas

Every year it seems that Christmas comes sooner and sooner, this year being no exception. Between reading blog posts and seeing decorations around town my anxiousness has been brewing for some time and I think today it finally came full circle. I can’t wait to put our Christmas decorations up and this weekend I  plan on going down in the basement and pulling out our  decorations to take inventory of what we have and what we need.

My first project that I’ve been thinking about is our mantle. The fireplace in this house is far more substantial than our old house and I have visions of a well lit mantle with a fire going on the inside with the lights off and us enjoying Christmas movies. I headed to Pinterest to get an idea of how I want the mantle to look and I came up with these inspiration photos.

Werther’s Caramel Apples and My Kids

Disclosure

Something about the fall and the holidays makes me want to bake and craft and just do all of the things that I normally don’t do. The kids love this time of year because they love to help in the kitchen and there seems to be enough projects during this season to keep them busy and in my way.

Werther’s sent over some of their new baking caramels and I thought the kids and I would make some caramel apples. They were determined to do the majority of the work on their own so I just stood and ordered and supervised the process.

We first gathered some Granny Smith apples. I’m sure you can use any kind but like I’ve said before I have NO love for mushy apples so the crispness and the tartness of the Granny Smith variety seemed to be best.

Quick Dinner: Chicken Alfredo

* I was provided Pompeian olive oil in exchange for this review. All opinions are mine. You already know*

I think every busy Mom is always in search of that quick meal that gets folks fed and in the bed. One of my go to meals is Chicken Alfredo. Sometimes if I am in the mood I will make the sauce from scratch…that’s not often though.

The ingredients are minimal. Olive oil, chicken, broccoli, sauce, and fettucine.

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was busy for sure.

Started off Saturday serving with my Sorors at the Atlanta Community Food Bank sorting can goods to be distributed to needy families within Atlanta. Our efforts help feed nearly 15,000 people. What a great way to start off a Saturday.
