Me Weekend

Sisterly Love

*drumroll* If you didn’t catch a clue from the title of this post, I went to Philadelphia. One of my very good friends Keysha was celebrating her 30th birthday and a surprise party was being thrown in her honor. Keysha made the trek for my 30th so I was definitely going to make the trip for hers..

My action packed weekend started on Friday night at the Tastmaker Magazine launch party. The party was fabulous and took place upon the rooftop terrace of the Renaissance hotel here in Atlanta. I got there around 8pm with the intention of leaving at 10pm in order to get home and ready for my 6am flight..so yeah, that was a bust I didn’t get home until 1a. The party was fantastic, I was there with my girls Niya, Erika and Trina from Baby Shopaholic.

Hot Mamas

As if winning the shoes wasn’t enough from the event here..She won a HP smart phone at this event. The weird thing is she told me that she is known for winning things at every event she attends. Hmmmm at this point she is 2 for 2. I hope some of that magic rubs off on me!

So then I rush home and pack. Needless to say I didn’t go to sleep at ALL. Left the house at 4:30a for a 6a flight.

We got to Philadelphia around 8 and headed to Keysha’s house. She was in Atlantic City when we got there. We helped with some last minute preparations and oddly enough when she arrived we were upstairs getting ready. We ended up rushing outside without combing our hair or changing our clothes. We just hung out like old times. I miss my girls, it was great to have us all back in the same place..its been awhile. Anxiously awaiting my next girls meetup out of town. Did someone say Vegas?!!

Children Lil Man Weekend

Fun Friday

I did it. I survived the summer. It’s over.

This has been one loooong summer. At times it feels like it slow poked and at others it flew by. But I’m going to say the general consensus is with no less than four children in my care at least a week at a time with breaks here and there when they switched and went to my inlaws, this was the summer that I thought would never end.

Last night my stepdaughter went home and I went to Lil Man’s Kindergarten orientation..it’s official! Monday, school bells ringing.

Soo, I’ve decided not to let Lil Man ride the school bus. After I spoke with his teacher, who I loooove by the way she confirmed my thoughts that the bus is super rowdy and if I am able to drop and pick up to do that. I’ve also decided on packing lunch..saw the menu..say no more.

Now things can go back to normal. I can start blogging, taking photos and grocery shopping once a week instead of everyday trying to feed these kids. I feel like August 1 is a new beginning and I am treating it as such. Time to get back to work on my endeavors..I’m planning a mom’s night out event here in Atlanta…deets coming soon!

The fall for me is action packed. Time for shuffling Lil Man to piano, football practice and the newly added Tae Kwon Do two days a week along with my marathon training and I am going to be busy. We will be doing quite a bit of traveling. I am looking forward to fall my favorite time of the year. The living room is going to get a makeover and I want to do a few decorative things around the house via thrifting and DIY projects..Lawd. It will all be blogged. Promise.

Welp, tomorrow its going down. I’m doing a flash mob. Yasssss….Meeeeee.  Just one of those things to say you’ve done. Cross y’alls fingers that the Mr. comes out and tapes it so I can post here for your viewing and laughing pleasure.

Have a great weekend…What’s on your agenda?

Weekend

New Week..New Direction

*Blogged over at Mami 2 Mommy today. Make sure to stop by. Thanks to all of you who have been visiting  both places *

It’s Monday! How was your weekend?

Our weekend was busy, busy busy.

Friday night was a much needed date night. The Mr. and I headed over to the arena to watch the Hawks and the Heat play. The Mr. is an avid Miami Heat fan and the moment Lebron was moved to the Heat was the day he got the tickets. Game was great, not a basketball fan but seeing LeBron and Dwayne Wade made the night worthwhile. The Hawks got beat down, I was hoping they would as much as those tickets cost.

After the game we headed over to Silk for dinner and sushi with one of our favorite couples who also joined us at the game. Food was delish and then off to pick up the babies.

Saturday morning, Lil Man and I got an early start and headed out to see a pre-screening of the new movie Hop (I’ll review it later). Got a chance to see the lovely Shellie and the cutie pie stars of her blog H2 Whoa!, snacked on popcorn and drank soda (although I gave it up for lent). I enjoyed spending time alone with my son, I need to make that a priority now that Lil Mama is getting older.

Sunday, we headed out to a birthday party. There was a bounce house present. Enough said. Jumped himself silly. Love those parties where all of the besties are present in one place. Shot the breeze, caught up on everybody’s business and headed home after dragging him, kicking and screaming out of the bounce house.

*In other news*

In case you hadn’t noticed the expanded menu bar at the top. Its purpose stands to renovate my tiny “mommy” blog into a “mommy/lifestyle” blog. Don’t go unsubscribing. This will NEVER become a giveaway/review type blog. In an effort to branch out into the freelance writing world, I am looking to expand the type of writing that I do. You’ll see recipes, book reviews etc. Just something to expand the scope of this place a bit. It probably won’t be consistent knowing me…

What’s good in your world?!

Family Weekend

Is it Monday Already?

*Its Monday, I’m blogging over at Mami 2 Mommy today. Head over and check out the post*

Hi!

How was your weekend? We didn’t do much of anything. Can you believe I didn’t get out and shake my groove thang to end off my birthday week? Well the weather here was less than fab, cold and rainy to be exact. Hard to rock that short dress when it is fuh-reezing outside. Because I am who I am, I am extending my birthday weekend celebration until next Saturday when I can pull out the hot mama dress!

The weekend was spent hanging out with the family. Saturday morning we headed out to my nephew’s kiddie basketball tournament. It never ceases to amaze me how into these games the parents get.  When little man played football this is about as into it as I got.

No yelling at referees or running on the field. This is supposed to be fun for the kids, not some outlet for parents to let off aggression. Hmph, maybe I’m still a newbie to this whole team mom thing. I’ll let you know how Spring football goes.

After the game, I cleaned out my closet and donated a ton of items to a local clothing drive. It makes my heart smile to donate, and to think alot of what I gave had only been worn once or twice. I was surprised at how hard it was for me to let some of that stuff go. Seriously, I had to set a rule, if I hadn’t worn it in 6 months it needed to go. Typical, I was all attached to stuff I hadn’t worn in forever. Got over myself and put all of it in a bag and rushed it down there as soon as I could. The aftermath…my closet is empty. Goes to show I only wear the same things over and over again. I am sure those things will be put to better use than hanging in my closet. So if you see me wearing the same things in pictures on the blog give me a pass okay.

The remainder of the weekend was low key. I got a bit of rest, and the Mr. helped me deep clean the house so I am starting off the week with a clean slate. I am optimistic about attacking my to do list and getting things accomplished this week with the business.

What did you do this weekend? Big plans for the coming week?
