Family Hair Lil Mama Lil Man Week in the Life Of

A Week in the Life Of….

This will more than likely become a weekly feature where I outline all of the normal, crazy and just down right foolishness that I may encounter during the week. Please note: MY week runs from Sunday to Thursday. On Fridays I do nothing…other than change diapers, and pick up from school. With that being said….

Last weekend we travelled to Tallahassee for my stepdaughter’s birthday party. Glad to say everything went well. Who said blended families can’t work out…although at times our “situation” seems more like a pureed family. Geesh, there has to be a cut off..I’ll give deets sometime next week.

I got a mani, pedi AND my eyebrows waxed..that’s EPIC

My son’s teacher sent home a note stating that the children MUST address their valentines. I’m thinking she didn’t give thought to the fact that preschoolers write very slow and and with 20 envelopes to address that could become a day long task. We’re starting on Saturday, we should be done by Thursday.

Tuesday, I straight up needed a do over. But that’s not how it works. What I don’t do is wallow in pity…and that’s all I’mma say about that.

Wednesday, I received a PSP from Klout. Woot Woot, I got Klout!  I’m moving up in the blogging world.

After practicing piano everyday last week with my son ( something that I NEVER do) he got to lessons today and played like he had never seen the music before. *sigh* Not to mention she gave him his recital music. OMG..I think I am going to have to take lessons just to practice that piece of Mozart with him.

Addison : Sleep :: Oil : Water….testing your SAT skills! In a nutshell Addison is back to not sleeping. She is teething again.

Adrian has somehow managed to put a hole in FIVE pair of jeans..FIVE. Some of the jeans have holes in both knees. I hate to send him to school with holey jeans but we dont’ have it like that. Headed to Walmart this weekend for some knee patches.

HOLEY MOLEY

I have an astronomical amount of hair and getting it done professionally is at least $80..nope, no funds for that so I have tried many products that didn’t work but I came across Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie. OMG, this stuff worked wonders on my hair. I picked it up from Target for $9.99 and I am hooked. All of the below pics were taken after my hair has been like this for a week…be forewarned the Mr. and I were being playing photog and model, nevermind us!

Get a Clue

I was watching the news the other day and could do nothing other than shake my head at a story regarding a young lady who led the police on a high speed chase because she was going to be late for her internship. Are you kidding me. According to the report, the police officer was attempting to pull her over for driving alone in the HOV lane. For those not familiar, HOV stands for High Occupancy Vehicle and are reserved at all times for vehicles transporting two or more passengers.

This chick crosses SIX lanes of traffic and nearly side swipes another vehicle that had been pulled over by another officer. She finally exited the interstate and when she was finally stopped, started crying and pleaded her case to the officer that she was trying to get to her internsip on time. Enough, I can’t. This is sheer stupidity, she could have injured or even killed someone. I’m just not sure who is to blame here, her or her parents.

So after listening to that foolishness, I started thinking about the show on VH1 called “You’re Cut Off.” Anybody seen it? Clueless, this show highlights young women who have been pampered all of their lives and all of a sudden their caregivers have become tired of their obnoxious ways and are “cutting” them off.  In an effort to provide them with the life skills necessary for them to fly the coop, each week they are presented with a challenge. If they complete the challenge they pass for the week, if not they fail. Boy, I tell ya some of the things that come out of these girls mouths, literally have me dropping mine.

As a parent, I am always worried that I will protect my children too much from the things of the outside world that they need to be familiar with in order to survive. There is truly a thin line between pampering your children and crippling them to the realities of the real world. I understand some parents want their children to have what they didn’t, myself included but there needs to be a limit. Its a shame that people think they are above the law or better than others because of their financial status. One things is for sure, if they live long enough, they will undoubtedly learn that life can and will spank that boo-tay. Too bad some people don’t realize until they are getting their mug shot done. How unfabulous.

How do you feel? When is enough, enough when it comes to spoiling and pampering children. Should expected things likes good grades, and behavior be rewarded?

Use Your Resources

Awhile ago I highlighted one of my very good friends Niya and her business Candy Cake Co. Since that post, Candy Cake Company has grown by leaps and bounds. Niya has been relentless in building her clientele and she is certainly beginning to reap the rewards of her hard work. Last week was epic for her business and she has some faaaaabulous things in the works. One of which required some professional photos of her treats…on very short notice and even shorter dollars.

Fret not. This circle of besties make it happen. I mentioned a few posts back that my dad sent me his old camera, so Niya, my other bestie Erika over at Blulabel Bungalow and I went to work…okay, I kind of stood around and ate cake pops but whose counting. We, make that Erika and her keen eye for detail and decor took the camera and got some really awesome shots. Once the work was done we played around and shot a few fun pics of Addison and us. We worked it out, and had fun at the same time. For real, it is absolutely necessary to fake it till you make it..sometimes.
