spring cleaning checklist | the kitchen

I like to deep clean at least twice a year, in the Spring and before school starts. Both times I would rather use my broom as a guitar and belt out show tunes at the top of my lungs on my front lawn with my neighbors driving by.  Since the temps will be reaching nearly 80 for the entire week  I’m happy to open the doors and windows to let in some fresh air and get started on the inevitable.

Yes, it’s that time of year friends.

Despite every good intention to stay on schedule keeping my house clean, I fell off the past few weeks and I am not ashamed to say my house is in complete disorder. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I have decided to take it one week at a time focusing on each area, and I encourage you to do the same. The key is once you’ve cleaned that area make sure to keep it on the weekly cleaning rotation to maintain order.

This week I am focusing on the kitchen. I’m just going to go ahead and get it out of the way first. I’ve organized my pantry, coffee and junk drawers so all they need are tidying up. All of the other cabinets, need M A J O R love.

Here is a printable checklist of the areas to include in your kitchen Spring cleaning. I’m going by this and hopefully I’ll be back on Sunday to highlight at least one of the best transformed spaces.

I would say don’t worry so much about making things pretty, the main focus is to get rid of the clutter, organize and take inventory of things that need to be thrown out and replaced.

I’ll join you because I have to get this place clean and ready for us to hand over the keys. Look at all those cabinets behind you! I need that kind of storage.

I finished cleaning out my pantry yesterday. It had been way too long since I took everything out, washed the shelf liners, and wiped everything down. Next I need to clean out the fridge.

I so need to do spring cleaning. I have been working so much and had so many things to do on the weekends for the last couple of months. Barely able to do just superficial cleaning. I love to have printable checklists for motivation.
