Wordless Wednesday

{kinda} Wordless Wednesday

My camera was broken.

I just thought I would put that out there in the event anyone was wondering what happened to my 365 Project. I went to take my lens off my new camera one day and it wouldn’t come off. Stuck I say. With so much going on with our little housing situation I kind of pushed it off to the side and this week I was finally able to tackle the issue.

I called Canon and they informed me it would be about $400 to get it fixed if it was the lens and not the camera. I mentioned the options to the Mr. and he gave me that look like, “oh well.”

Well it turns out my cheap little nifty fifty had a plastic casing and after it took a tumble one of the plastic pieces unfortunately got lodged in the place where the camera releases the lens. How did I know this you ask? Google. After the Mr. said nothing but “oh well,” I knew it would be a minute before I could get the repair done so after some research I decided to tackle the repair myself. I know…

Once I knew it was likely the lens and not the camera I dislodged the lens from the casing and after a few expletives and a bloody knuckle I was able to to detach the lens and salvage my camera. I took a risk and it paid off..this time. I would rather spend $80 on a new lens although I will likely just save up and get the 50mm 1.2 that I had been putting off but that’s another story for another day.

So about an hour after I completed surgery on the camera my neighbors and I took the babies to a semi farm/zoo called Noah’s Ark not far from our house. It is a refuge for animals who no longer have a home. I suppose they were in the circus or things of that nature and were no longer wanted and this place takes them in and takes care of these animals based on donations only.

I guess I failed at my Project 365….I’ll blame it on Murphy’s Law.

Have you fixed or dismantled anything lately? Been to the Zoo? Seen a Peacock in real life?

Life Me Random

Let’s Catch Up

Hey!

I feel like this post will be like that moment when you finally sit down to have drinks and dinner with your girl after a long hiatus of not speaking regularly.

*waits for you to order your food and drink*

Giiiiirl. Things have been crazy to say the least.

So, the baby is slowly entering the treacherous threes and refuses to wear anything but a frilly dress or tutu without a major melt down

My blood pressure was spiraling out of control so I finally decided to lace my running shoes back up and within just two weeks my blood pressure is averaging 120/88. Still need to work on the bottom number but at least I got started. I’ve been drinking a ton of water and wouldn’t you know these old creaky knees haven’t been bothering me at all. Water really is a nasty cure all. I have been reminded that I truly love running and it feels good to be back on the pavement…now to stay there. A half marathon is on my bucket list so I am training for the Thanksgiving Day half marathon. I should be ready by then. In the meantime I plan to run a few 5K and 10K races to keep me motivated.

…or a dog is chasing you! This is my motto as I’m striving for a 10 min mile

Well, they cancelled the contract on the home we were building and instead of waiting on the paperwork we needed to reinstate it we decided to continue looking for a new home and we came up on our dream home. Like the home I always envisioned. Before we were slightly settling but moving into this home would make me feel like I settled for nothing and that all the past drama was just leading us to the perfect home. We put in a contract today. We have to wait until Wednesday at the latest to see if it is accepted. There is a little bit of drama with it as we don’t think it will appraise for the selling price, so we attached a love letter to hopefully encourage them to honor the contract and sell us the home for the appraised value in the event it is lower than the offered price.

I’m pretty sure I am going back to work. After much deliberation I have decided to possibly start looking for work with a long list of must haves. One being I must be able to work from home. Wish me luck, and if you know of anything holla at ya girl!!

I haven’t been blogging as much because I have been asking God to provide me with the ability to make steady income while not jeopardizing my ability to be available to my family. We have decided there is no need for both of us to run the hamster wheel and if I go back to work I need to be at home. What I realized is that I am asking for a promotion but I haven’t mastered the basics and that is putting my family ahead of everything, everyday. So now I have to take care of them and my home first and blogging has been getting put on the back burner as I struggle to balance both. I think I have finally found my groove so I can start back posting and commenting regularly. I may be visiting some of your virtual homes rather late at night so leave the porch light on…K?!

Blogging

I am trying to line up activities for the summer. I can’t even believe that there is just over a month left in school. I promise it seems like it was just the first day of school.

My son is doing really good with baseball. I know I mentioned how worried I was about him in the beginning but he is really shining. We did get the private lessons and they have indeed paid off. I think he has truly found a sport that he likes.

I guess that’s all for now. What’s good in your hood?!!

Painting with Disney and Glidden Part II

My post here detailed our excursion to Walmart to select a paint color and a specialty finish for Addison’s room. After much deliberation we decided on “Butterfly Fly By” for the wall color and “Ready, Set, Glow” for the specialty finish.

To get some ideas for the application of “Ready, Set, Glow”  I journeyed onto the Disney Paint website to get some inspiration and decided to go with stenciling as they had done on the video demonstration. Sad for me I couldn’t find the exact Tinkerbell stencils used so I found something just as whimsical.

Disney Glidden Ready, Set, Glow

I tried to let Miss Addison help but I found her help to be synonymous with making a mess so when she laid down for a nap I set out on a mission to start stenciling. I’m not sure what I was expecting but I was surprised to find that the specialty finish went on just like regular paint. It applied like regular paint, however the smell was minimal and when I say minimal I really mean practically there was no smell at all.

I had to do some major tricking out of my camera settings to get this shot of the paint actually glowing

So, let me say my first few stencils weren’t that good. I don’t follow directions well and instead of dabbing the paint onto the stencil I wiped it and it didn’t come out as clean as I would’ve liked the first few times.

Disney Ready Set Glow Paint

After awhile I got my groove and they started to come out better. Lucky for you, you won’t see the finished product until the little shindig we will be throwing the weekend of May 3 where we will reveal the design of the entire room. Although we won’t be in this home much longer, Addison is afraid of the dark and what was once our voluntary co-sleeping arrangement has turned into a burning desire for her to start sleeping in her own bed. I am hoping the glow in the dark design will encourage her to stay in her own room *crosses fingers*

One more absolutely lovely thing I loved about the specialty finish is the fact that you can’t see it during the day. It basically takes on the color of the wall so it is very non intrusive to any other design elements you may have in the room. I had to struggle to get the right angle for you to see.

Disney Ready Set Glow Paint

I can’t wait to see the look on her face when I put her in the bed this evening because she has no idea!

I encourage you to take a look on the Disney Paint website where there is a virtual room painter that will allow you to try out various combinations of paint and specialty finishes to help you make an informed decision. This tool is invaluable seeing that painting and repainting and repainting and ……is no fun. Trust me!

Building the House Episode 12

Here we go.

Since my last update we had been finally been assigned a short sale negotiator after oh, 8 months of trying. It was requested that we submit another 4,096,028 pieces of paperwork to start the final process. I gathered all of the paperwork and reached out to the assigned negotiator and he is magnificent. After he reviewed the paper work we submitted he sent over a list of contingencies that we had to meet that just consisted of faxing over bank statements and a letter or unemployment for myself and per the letter he stated once that information was received along with the appraisal he would forward the application off for approval.

Did you read that?!!! APPROVAL. God is so good. I literally broke down in tears. I cannot put into words what this process has taught me about faith and believing and pushing even when the outcome looks unfavorable. Just keep going. The appraiser will be out this week and hopefully he will hit a number very close to what the asking price was and there won’t be a ton of negotiations with the buyer since he already offered above asking and is a cash buyer.

Then…you know God will always send trials to test our faith and sanity.

So my first issue is I specified on the contract that I wanted a third soffit window on the roof and they only put two. My problem is the agent submitted the wrong contract and has yet to do what she said she would do as in asking for this situation to be rectified as in getting my new window added. As a precautionary measure I looked at the contract we had and we were charged for a cabinet upgrade yet she submitted the contract to the builder with the wrong cabinets. My husband called her to see about that getting fixed and her response was that she would be getting back to him regarding that situation. Nothing. As I type this I am steaming, but I prayed this morning for peace regarding the situation and I am leaving it to my husband to handle because he said he would.

Theeeeen.

Yesterday they decided to cancel our contract because they didn’t have any details on where we were in the short sale process. Please take note that my husband was told they needed this on Saturday when HE called them. Come Monday, contract cancelled. *Chews blood pressure pills like Butthead did on that plane in Beavis and Butthead do America*. Then they had the nerve to say they are not sure they will be able to reinstate the contract at our current pricing.

So we have decided to continue looking for another home. This may or may not be the house for us but seeing that my SIL is a freshly licensed real estate agent it sure won’t hurt to start looking at other options.

In the event this is our home here is the construction progress:

So this is where I wanted that third window. See the two fake ones at the top I wanted another one over the far right window. *waits*

I wanted them to put the window in before this step but alas…*waits some more*

The race is not given to the swift but to the one that endures. It’s almost been a year and I’m tired!
I’m going to pretend I’m Musiq and say AIJUSWANNAMOVE and at this point I don’t care where. My prayer is that the Lord lead us to our forever home and keep us sane in the process.

Keep Praying..The saga continues.
