The Case for the Romper

Tobi compensated me for this post. Black and white is my favorite color combo, this collaboration was the yin to my yang

My goodness, who knew one piece of fabric that easily impedes ones ability to use the restroom but garners much love especially when one tells her friend, ” Girl, it even has pockets!”

You are not initiated into that romper life until you have squatted over a toilet in a public restroom with the middle of your romper bunched and held together with one hand whilst trying to balance yourself with the other.

Romper

Yoooooooooooooooooo! Women are amazing creatures, we stand in solidarity with our sisters we see out at public events rocking her romper cause……that struggle is only for the well skilled.

All jokes aside rompers are that piece of clothing that you can easily dress up or down with merely a change of shoes, and accessories. Their level of comfort is a SAHM/WAHMs dream. Cute and comfortable is a wonderful combination when you’ve been locked in a house for days at a time and dare to venture to Target or the kids school or wherever  attempting to look like somebody.

Romper

This romper here is one of my absolute favorites. Why you ask?

Hello black and white stripes, slip on and go dopeness.

What are your thoughts on the whole RompHim situation? Personally I could care less, this romper life is comfortable and cute, why must we be selfish and not share what we’ve known for years. That being said I assure you my Mr. won’t be rocking one, how about yours?!

Motherhood Moment | Relinquishing Fashion Control

Thank you to Gymboree for partnering with Unlikely Martha. I was compensated for this post. Children grow like weeds. This collaboration fit well…no pun intended.

The saying ” The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” totally applies to shift dresses, denim and chambray. A few weeks ago as I was cleaning out Addi’s closet I took notice that somehow I have subconsciously curated this child’s wardrobe to be a mirror image of mine.

Her wardrobe is  void of color and all of the sparkle that she seems to love that ails me so. Now that she is on the brink of being 7, I’m pretty sure she is going to start challenging my tendencies to urge her away from the color purple and other shiny, sparkly things that I don’t care for.

I’ll calmly try to step back and let her take control of her fashion future. I’m in that stage of motherhood where I am coming into the season of watching these little people grow into their own personalities. Albeit a little saddening I am truly enjoying seeing her become her own person. Sometimes I look at her and still see that tutu, you know the one we snuck and threw away all those years ago? Now we enjoy true mommy and me moments together that I treasure. She asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day, I told her to be left alone. She  told me she would sneak  my breakfast in while I’m asleep.

She totally gets it.

My girl is full of life, personality and energy and her clothing needs to reflect that. Gymboree is a great option when it comes to colorful and fun children’s clothing. The folks at Gymboree sent her a box of colorful and fun goodies that I she was able to work with. The classic shift dress, stripes, color and sparkle kind of did it for the both of us.

I really loved the shoes. Hi tassel.

Apparently the similarities don’t stop at clothing. We both need a pedicure.

OshKosh B’Gosh Spring Fashion for Girls + $50 Giveaway

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.”

Anybody else feel a sense of excitement when stores start putting out Spring fashion. Bright, cheery pastel colors, new styles and accessories have you wishing away the totally awkward transitional period from cold to warm so you can put your arms and legs out.

Addison will be 7 in a few weeks and I am thrilled that she is now of the age where she is transitioning out of little girl clothing into kids fashion styles that are a little more fashion forward. This is also the time where she is starting to assert her opinions on what she likes and wants to wear. Thank goodness her style is pretty much on par with the things I would purchase for her so the transition has been smooth so far.

Knocks on Wood.

Speaking of asserting herself, she loves this hat. I purchased it thinking it would be good for Easter and she wants to wear it with everything!

OshKosh B’gosh is one of my favorite places to shop for her. I love OshKosh for their age appropriate stylish clothing and accessories. My number one love for the brand is the fact that their clothing washes well and lasts for a long time. My girl can be so hard on clothes so I don’t mind paying a little extra for style AND quality. Coupled with a coupon, I can always get more bang for my buck shopping with OshKosh B’gosh.

A few weeks ago I journeyed down to OshKosh to pick up a few Spring items for her and fell in love with the Fields of Fun line. I love how the Fields of Fun  items coordinate with one another allowing you to create a sort of capsule wardrobe of kids fashion that mixes and matches well allowing you to buy a few pieces that can create multiple outfits. Again, more bang for your buck.

Spring into Style with Denim + Nordstrom Gift Card Giveaway

Here in the South we have experienced a taste of all four seasons in the span of one week. While temps  easily hit the 70s for a week straight in February, I am old school and subscribe to the fashion theory of dressing for the season and not the weather. I will not be caught dead in sandals before the end of April and pass not one morsel of judgement on those who do. As I am truly unbothered about what you choose to put on your body.

eshakti

So you can imagine my  fashion theory has left me a little perplexed on how to dress for this crazy, sporadic weather. I figure you can never go wrong in Spring with layering your clothing, rocking a little denim and throwing on your favorite flats.

Oh, and please don’t forget your accessories. They can easily pop a plain outfit.

I customized this denim dress on Eshakti, by selecting the length, neckline, and sleeve length. Once I received it, I realized my Summer body had not completely arrived and it was a little snug buttoned up, so I opted to wear it as a duster.

….or a cloak, as my son calls it.

It’s weighty enough to keep me warm on cool mornings and evenings but light enough to act as a layer for warmer days.

Did I mention I’m tired. Between dance and track four times a week, I’m just trying to look like somebody with minimal effort. I’ve worn a variation of this outfit more than I care to admit but it’s easy and makes me look a little put together.

If you too are grasping for Spring outfit inspiration I’m teaming up with Take Time for Style for a fun collaboration of stylish moms sharing how we do Spring Style. Be sure to visit every day  for some Spring style inspiration. For a chance to win a $150 Nordstrom Gift card enter HERE!
