Me My Babies Week in the Life Of

Week in the Life Of….

Well another week has come to a close, and I must say it was rather uneventful. Productive you ask? Nope, I wouldn’t go that far but I did manage to get the laundry caught up…can I get a Woot Woot for that.

Last weekend, I went shopping for a few items for spring and did manage to find a few things that met all of my criteria: 1.) Must be on sale 2.) Must be “mommy” fly and 3.)  must be cheap

Lil Man was out of school Monday and Tuesday. Yes, he talked us silly. Bless his heart he has so much to say. I love him! I took them to the park everyday since the weather here has been holding steady in the 70’s and let him run himself tired…because remember when his eyes shut so does his mouth.

Addison slept well this week, but for some reason or another I am still on her waking every 3 hour schedule. Not.a.good.look. I am setting a bedtime for myself next week. Midnight..no blogging, no tweeting, no reading only sleeping. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Part of the reason I wasn’t sleeping is because I was reading a book. Not on the iPad but an actual book. Couldn’t put it down, each page was begging to be turned and I obliged from 12a to 4a two nights last week. It was for a good cause, the book was excellent. The name of it was Little Bee by Chris Cleave. My goal is to read at least 1 book a month so I was hardpressed to get it in before the end of the month but it was an easy read. So I am pushing my luck to finish another before next week. I am now reading, Jump at the Sun by Kim McLarin. I vow to read this book and adhere to my new bedtime schedule..as stated before I’ll let you know how that goes. I’ve even added a little widget to your left that will keep you in the know on what I’m reading.

Speaking of reading, remember when I went on and on about how much I loved magazines and I traded in my frequent flier miles for magazine subscriptions? Well this week a whopping 4 glossy mags found their way into my mailbox. Sad thing is I haven’t read the other ten that came in December and January.  I’mma get to them…juuuuuuust like I’mma get around to mopping that kitchen floor…one day.

Please note the 3 Cosmo's and 2 Marie Claires on the iPad *SMH*

Wait for it…Wait for it. Go Shorty it’s My Birfday..not today but on next Wednesday. On 3/2 I will be 32. I’m comfortable in my 30’s now, I just didn’t realize that my birthday was around the corner until everyone kept asking me what my plans were. I don’t know what I will be doing  but I do know it will involve drinking and a short dress #dontjudgeme. Okay, I am exagerating, more like a glass of wine since I am still a nursing mama, but hold me to my word on that dress. Now, do I celebrate this weekend or next, or both. Don’t worry you’ll get all of the deets and non incriminating photos!

How was your week? Any big plans for the weekend?

Lil Mama Lil Man Me

Did Ya Miss Me?

Yeah, I have been real janky about blogging lately. Not sure why, can you believe I didn’t have much to say, okay actually I had too much to say and for some reason the words wouldn’t come. No worries, I am back on blogging schedule becuase I just know you all look forward to reading my randomness!!

In other news:

Addison is sleeping better. I was beginning to feel a little undone with the lack of sleep I was getting.

Spring has been rearing its bee-u-tiful face lately. Delightful, but I am not fooled. I know cold weather is coming back around. For this reason I can.not wear sandals or any full spring attire. In the words of my mother, ” this is pneumonia weather, put on a jacket.” I can’t officially change over my gear until it has been consistently warm for at least 3 weeks.

Went shopping this weekend  for a few spring items. Found a few things. I am surprised at how cheap I have become. I have to rationalize everything before I buy it. I suppose that’s a good thing.

Divinitee is coming along. Not as well or as fast as I would like, and that would be because of my continuous lack of discipline. More problems with the printer, hopefully will have shirts mailed out this week. Sometimes I wish I had a business partner to hold me accountable, the thing is they would have to be ’bout their business and a drill sargeant and then I would probably get mad and tell them to kick rocks because this is “my” business. Y’all pray for me, I feel so defeated because I just can’t get it together. *sigh* or maybe it was the lack of sleep…or my son’s recent non stop talking binges..speaking of

OMG, Jesus please be the YKK on a zipper for Adrian’s mouth. I love my baby, yes I do but the talking has been NON STOP the past week. I mean NONSTOP. It’s like his eyes and mouth are connected by a string. When he opens his eyes in the morning it doesn’t shut until his eyes close for the night. I just figured out how to record on my phone and if I can figure out how to upload on here, I will let you all hear so you don’t think I am exaggerating. He is out of school the next two days, we will spend LOTS of time outdoors.

Enough.

How are you? I missed your comments on my brief hiatus. What’s going on in your neck of the woods? How’s the weather where you are? How are your babies? Made any strides in fulfilling your dreams? Read a good book lately? Something, tell me something….Calling all lurkers…Calling all lurkers!

Love Y’all!

Family Life Marriage Me My Babies

An Unlikely Love Story

*cue Mary J. Blige and Method Man “All I Need and loop in your head as many times as necessary to get through this post*

Once upon a time in June of 1998 I met a guy named A.D. Initially I was not impressed, he grew up very different from me and being as shallow minded as I was at the time I wanted nothing to do with a freshman college student who didn’t own a car, or who grew up in the mean streets of Miami, Fl. At the urging of a mutual friend of ours that actually went to high school with him, I agreed to ONE conversation. As cliche as it sounds the rest was history!

We dated from June 1998 to August of 1999. We decided to go our separate ways and rekindled our relationship in December of 2002. Amazingly during that time I never saw him more than two times and we lived in a very small town but people always said he would ask about me. We agreed to give it another shot prior to my graduating from college and moving from Tallahassee to Charlotte.

He graduated in 2003 and joined me in Charlotte

We lived in Charlotte for a year and a half before moving to Atlanta. About a year after moving here we got engaged..Woot Woot!!

Then a week later we discovered I was pregnant…After all those years, our luck ran out!

Shortly before Lil Man was born we got married at the courthouse.

You see my boy..Peace up, A town down

We had our own little family

Shortly after our trip to Disney in Summer 2009, We decided it was time to add to the roster

All of this because these two people fell in love….

Moral of the story is, if you haven’t found your “love” yet be patient and overlook the material things. If I had stayed hung up on the fact that he didn’t have a car and grew up in the projects this post would have never been!

Happy Valentines Day!

Fashion Frugal and Fab Me

Fashion Friday…Rain Boots

Rain boots on the brain. Why? Who knows, just recently everytime I see a pair I literally vocalize my desire to own some. I guess I have worn the Mr. out with my ramblings so much so that the other day,  he said to me and I quote, “Mimi, please go find you a pair of those ugly a*s rainboots, I’m tired of hearing about them.” Why thank you, I think I will! So being the responsible adult that I am, I have given myself a budget of $50 to find a nice pair. Hmmm I’m guessing these don’t fall in the budget…cry me a river

 Burberry

But I did manage to find some rather fab ones that fall within my price range….

Chooka

Chinese Laundry

Puddletons

Rainbops

Muck

I can see me now, no longer walking around those rain puddles that spring so graciously brings. I’ll be making a splash in my new boots. Hmmm…now I think I might need a matching umbrella and a rain coat.

Do you own a pair? I’m taking votes…weigh in. Should I go classic with the all black or add a splash of color?

Have a good weekend!!
