Christmas Décor Holidays NaBloPoMo Rant

No Christmas Zone :-|

It’s November 10. To say I’m a little perturbed by the fact that in the matter of a week it has jumped from Harvest Season/Fall to Christmas/Winter. I need a buffer.
The buffer is Thanksgiving.

I was in Bath and Body Works the other day and Christmas carols were playing. We went shopping on Friday night  at the Tanger Outlet Center and it was decked out as if St. Nick would be making an appearance any day now. In actuality that any day now is is well over a month a way. Not to mention I keep hearing the question how many days until Christmas from my kids.

I promised myself that I wouldn’t purchase anything Christmas related until after Thanksgiving. Then I saw pretty stuff in the dollar spot at Target that I knew wouldn’t be there so I bought a few things…I know.

Christmas Decor

In buying those few things I think I am slowly coming out of the Scrooge Bah humbug, no Christmas before Thanksgiving mode and am getting a little excited for my favorite time of the year.

I’m not buying anything else Christmas related until after Thanksgiving and I’m telling you if I hear Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas…

A. DAY.  before Thanksgiving I’m flipping over a table.

…and truth be told the egg nog is calling my name but I shall not succumb. Let the inaugural egg nog sippin’ of the holiday season commence on Thanksgiving. It’s going to be hard though. Real hard.

Southern Comfort

Are you a fan of this new extended holiday season? Do you quietly wish we had this extended season that our kids get that we didn’t?!

Sigh. You know I love Christmas but I’m so disturbed at the lack of respect given to Thanksgiving!!

Christmas before Thanksgiving absolutely kills me. Even my daughter mentioned in the grocery store that there were, ‘Three different holiday decorations up.” I have started Christmas shopping for the kids but I won’t do anything decor related until Thanksgiving evening. Every time I drive by Garden Ridge I’m tempted to stop but I just say, “Get the behind me retail devil” and press the gas, LOL! I’m in there after Black Friday though!

I love Christmas, but they started putting decorations up October 17 and in Houston it was still literally 90 degrees. Give it a minute. Christmas will come.
But kudos for grabbing dollar bin items lol.

I live for October and to see Christmas things out while I am trying to get my birthday and Halloween on? No, just no. But as soon as the calendar said November 1…I was ready for it. And the more I thought about it, I realized that if I wait until Thanksgiving there is too much of a rush and I do not get to enjoy the Christmas season. I start off okay and then get bah humbag halfway through December. So this year I am in it. I have started listening to the music, I am thinking about putting the tree up. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Thanksgiving but I think you can be ready for the Christmas season and still enjoy all that November offers. 🙂

Ummm, I have two bottles of Egg Nog (that stuff is good, LOL). Years ago my teacher told me about one in a can that I will be in a lookout for after Thanksgiving.

I was born November 1st and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I wait until the first day of Autumn to do any decorating. I don’t like doing things early. But I can’t wait till this weekend when I can break out the pumpkins! I also wait until Black friday to take down the Thanksgiving stuff. I always hold Thanksgiving dinner at my house on that day so in laws can celebrate with their family on THE day and it gives me a day off to get things ready (I don’t do Blk Fry shopping). So Friday or Saturday I start putting up Christmas decorations.
I’m frustrated that people are so big on celebrating Halloween – which is all about evil – and brush off the holiday where we are supposed to Thank God! ugh. But anyway, my philosophy is that you should still be able to sing Christmas carols even in January and any time it snows. Why put up Christmas stuff when it’s warm out but then suddenly stop celebrating once Christmas is over? I personally keep everything up till at least the Day of Epiphany. It only makes sense.

By the way, love that porch light pic with the pine cones. Thanks for the inspiration!!
