Me Organization Sanity

I Think I’m Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter

The other day I had a fleeting thought about how absolutely fantastic it would be when I get to Walmart and forget what I came for, or pull up at the bank drive thru only to realize I left the check at home, or when my son is talking non stop,or when I am trying to make some sense of the 50 million things running through my mind at any given time, that clad in my skinny jeans with my lipgloss poppin’, I could stop WHEREVER I am (spectators welcomed) and do the Wonder Woman twirl. As I’m twirling my wrist cuffs would emit super powers to magically exonerate each task on my to do list, and even quiet a crying or overly talkative child.

Yeah right. Fast forward to a post by Mama Locs regarding her practice of keeping a pen and paper handy to jot down the things she has to do, and another post by Being Mrs. Jones about what she would like her day to look like, I embarked on a journey to find a journal that could fit in my purse and keep my to do lists and daily plans neat, and in one place. Lo and behold I found this at my local Walmart, on clearance!

How Fitting!!
So now..let’s just hope it serves its purpose, and the pages aren’t torn out by a 4 year old, or I don’t write my name 100 times in different penmanship styles (yes, I still doodle)! Here’s to my new journal, and my first step…next week, on the journey to becoming better organized. Will you join me!!!
Do share your tried and true tips for organization, or will you be joining me in trying to organize the mind and tangible clutter in your home and life?!!
My Babies

Defense and Daddies

Ever heard of Toddlers and Tiara’s?…Yup, that is where I am going with this post.
My husband and brother law coach a pee wee football team of five year olds, and on any given day and I can’t help but feel as though they are reliving their youthful days on the football field through these babies. The Mr. is at the park five days a week between coaching his team and taking my son to practice. On one hand, I appreciate the Mr.’s dedication to some of the young men on the team who don’t have a father figure. For these boys he serves as a mentor and a coach. While I would like him home at a decent hour at least two nights out of the week, I understand and support his dedication to the boys on the team. However, my concern is that they are pushing a little too hard for this age group. It is my thought that at the age of five, organized sports stands as a medium through which they are introduced to the concepts of teamwork, sportsmanship and hard work. I do not believe a large amount of pressure needs to be placed on winning at this point in their lives. They will spend the majority of their lives competing for one thing or another, and I think it is our job to protect their innocence for as long as we can.

Mommy’s sweet face offensive line tight end
Mommy’s bruiser…Let’s go Wolfpack, let’s go!!
I told the Mr. I thought they were going a little hard on them and that if they want to compete on that level they should probably try to coach an older group of boys next year. The Mr. responds that football teaches them the basics of life (?) and discipline. Whatever..I asked him if he thought half of the boys on the team actually loved football or were they solely out there because their fathers were on the field yelling at referees and slapping helmets on a good play. He says yes..I say..ugh not so much. I believe our children to a certain extent are predisposed to be interested in the things we like to make us happy, but does that really mean they want to do it. My son is playing football this year and he really doesn’t seem interested. I will give him one more year and if not we will try another sport.

Am I overreacting, should children be learning the importance of competing to win at such an early age, or should they be allowed to have fun without the pressure of winning while learning the importance of sportsmanship and the basics of the game? At what age is serious competition welcomed?

One Month in the Blogging Game

Just a month ago, I embarked on this blogging journey, not really sure if I would be able to keep up or even have anything to write about that would remotely interest other people. Well, just a short month later, and with a few loyal followers I am hooked and I’m here to stay!  With that being said, as I have taken time over the last month to visit many of you and other blogs, I would really like to get serious about my new found hobby. In the next few weeks I will be making some changes to the face of the blog. I hope you’re on for the ride. Thank you so much for reading and commenting, I really appreciate it!

"Fall"ing For New Decor

Fall is almost here!! With its pending arrival, I have been giving quite a bit of thought to economical ways in which I can redecorate my home for the new season. The major focal point in my living room is the fireplace, so naturally adding some autumnal pizazz to the mantle will add some color and warmth to the space. I have a heart for design but often the pieces don’t come together effortlessly for me so I either seek the advice of my bestie..check her out, or I search for images on the Internet until I find something that I like and can reasonably copy by re-purposing some items that I already have. Here are some images that I plan on using for inspiration in creating my fall mantle. Stay tuned for pics sometime next week, or the week after!!

Thinking about replacing the circles with candle pillars and candles in earth tone colors and yummy fall scents
