Show Your Disney Side Party

Happy Monday!

Hope your weekend was well. Can you believe we are headed into the last week of February? Time is surely waiting on no one.

Anywho.

This weekend we hosted a Disney Side party at our house and Addison was in complete “Turn Up” mode!  Although she knew it wasn’t her birthday you would’ve thought it was by the way she was acting.

We hosted about 12 children and their fab moms at our home for an afternoon of fun and all things Disney.

It just so happens that a few of our guests will be visiting Disney this summer including us so we headed to the basement to watch the Disney vacation planning video. Unfortunately the adults couldn’t hear because the children were screaming in excitement at the Disney characters on the video.Disney Side

After they were done with the movie they headed back upstairs for more playing and fun….and cupcakes.

What an awesome time celebrating with friends and learning more about Disney and what it has to offer. I am hype about our trip to Disney this year. I’ll have to go back and watch the video to make sure I get some tips. I’ll be sure to share them with you.

Anybody else headed to see Mickey Mouse this year?! Did you have cupcakes this weekend?! How was your weekend?

Weekend Shenanigans

Unless you’ve been under a rock, last week the entire city of Atlanta was crippled unnecessarily by a mere two inches of snow.

Atlanta Snow 2014

I’ll spare you the details because I’m pretty sure the lack of resources, thousands of people that were left sleeping in cars on area interstates and children slumbering at their desks overnight has crossed your timeline or TV screen so I’ll start with the thaw out.

This weekend as the ice finally melted and the city came back to life I was happy to venture out of the house after being iced in for nearly a week to attend my first Metro Atlanta Founders Day (MAFD). MAFD is a luncheon where all of the local chapters of AKA get together to honor our founders. Had a great time seeing faces I knew and meeting a few new people.

This weekend I also volunteered to keep my friend’s children so her and her husband could go off for a weekend getaway. While I was gone having lunch and fun the Mr. was at home with 4 small children. I came home expecting him to be frazzled but he was holding things down. As soon as my toe hit the threshold it became a barrage of Mommy I need this, Miss Mimi can we…..Y’all know I love the kids so I came in and took over.

This weekend was also spent so called putting the last touches on the laundry room until I took down the bar light in the ceiling and realized that two gaping holes were staring back at me. Like two big eyes. After much debate and the reading of many horror DIY tales on the interwebs I had some what comfortably come to a decision that I wouldn’t take on scraping the popcorn off the ceiling…until yesterday. I mean if it has to be patched, sanded and painted to hide those holes may as well scrape…right? I sure hope this turns out well. It’ll be a few more weeks before the reveal. I’m sorry, I’m sure you care.

Weekend Shenanigans

Happy Monday!

This weekend was rather busy. A sick child derailed my plans to complete a service project for Habitat for Humanity with my Sorors on Monday. Poor thing, he got struck with the infamous stomach virus that has made its way around. I thought we were in the clear but apparently not.

Friday evening my SIL came in town with her besties to look for a wedding dress. They ventured down to Bridals by Lori as in “Say Yes to the Dress.” Unfortunately I was unable to attend because I had already committed to helping out with a fundraiser my chapter was having for our Debutantes. She found her dress and it is GORGEOUS and I had a great time with my line sisters.

Saturday evening I was scheduled to attend some events but my husband needed to use the car and I was just plain tired. At some point everyone laid down for a nap and I awoke while they were still sleeping. I used that very RARE and precious time to spend some time alone comfy on my couch watching a Cosby Show Marathon. Sometimes it truly is the small things. It only lasted about 2 hours but it felt like an eternity.

Sunday, I woke up early and placed some dinner in the crock pot. My SIL and her besties were headed out again to find bridesmaids dresses. My SIL is one of those people that managed to master the makeup videos on YouTube and while she was “beating” her own face I asked for a slight “beat” and she obliged.

My Chapter was hosting a Sisterly Relations activity at No Mas Cantina, a local Mexican restaurant downtown for some fellowship and food. After I was all made up I headed out to No Mas. I looooooove my Line Sisters. WE take advantage of all opportunities to take photos!

Sunday evening, I made it home and relaxed, and had movie night in the theater with my SIL and her friends. Finally watched The Butler. What an awesome movie.

So, that was my weekend. Did you make Monday a “day off” or a “day on?” How was your weekend? Has that nasty virus found its way to your house?
